This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

I don't really like the quote on the Giant Spider page. The term "giant spider" is in it, but the quote is more about the rumored fifth superman movie and its director than it is about the trope. It's fine for the quotes section, but it shouldn't be the main quote. I'm actually surprised that, apart from a fanfic one, there aren't any other quotes, considering how omnipresent the trope is in fantasy and horror.
Edit: The quote in question -

For we shall slay evil with logic...Yeah, that's not very good.
Google's not helping much...A lot of MST 3 results on Giant Spider attacks, though.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettMight be something from Harry Potter or maybe some Magic: The Gathering flavor text.
Edit: There are many versions of Giant Spider in MTG, all with different flavor text, but they're not really usable.

For we shall slay evil with logic...How about,
- "But still she was there, who was there before Sauron, and before the first stone of Barad-dûr; and she served none but herself, drinking the blood of Elves and Men, bloated and grown fat with endless brooding on her feasts, weaving webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her vomit darkness."—The Two Towers
Or if we are to abuse ellipses to pick the most relevant bits of that passage, maybe more like,
- "There agelong she had dwelt, an evil thing in spider form... She served none but herself, drinking the blood of Elves and Men, bloated and grown fat with endless brooding on her feasts, weaving webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her vomit darkness. ...Never yet had any fly escaped from Shelob's webs, and the greater now were her rage and hunger."—The Two Towers
Or maybe, from a different part of the chapter,
- "Most like a spider she was, but huger than the great hunting beasts, and more terrible than they because of the evil purpose in her remorseless eyes. Great horns she had, and behind her short stalk-like neck was her huge swollen body, a vast bloated bag, swaying and sagging beneath her legs; its great bulk was black, blotched with livid marks, but the belly underneath was pale and luminous and gave forth a stench. Her legs were bent, with great knobbed joints high above her back, and hairs that stuck out like steel spines, and at each leg's end there was a claw."—The Two Towers

for the last of those three.

I was looking at those just as my connection started playing up last night!
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettNominating this Futurama quote for Morality Pet:
Bender: All those times I said "Kill all humans", I'd always whisper "except one". Fry was that one. And I never told him so!
(Sorry the formatting is off, I'm on my phone and I wanted this posted while it was fresh on my mind.)

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?for the Morality Pet one. That's a great example of the trope in action.

For Superhero Paradox, I think we should use Vision's speech in Captain America Civil War. It's a lot more illustrative and mainstream than the current one.
Current quote: "I don't want to stop crime, I just want to fight it." The Tick
Proposed quote:
Vision' s first line summarize the trope nicely while the last one provides a very eloquent explanation. Overall much better than the current quote.
Agreed. Though that pothole needs to go.
So I was thinking of adding a Stinger to the Stalked by the Bell page. Though the actual Stinger would be Brick Joke to the actual page quote by having it be the Fuuka's version of the same quote ("Be careful, I sense Death!"). So I was wondering if I can pothole where the quote comes from in the actual quote or not.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Ok, this one is a relatively minor problem, but I thought I'd see what others thought. The page quote for Guile Hero uses Characterization Tags and, in an amazing display of brazenness, even links to that page, which clearly says that Characterization Tags should not be used on the wiki, and should be fixed if spotted.
The problem is that I don't know enough about the fic (it's from a fanfic) or the character to just fix it. So I thought I'd see what others thought. Should we just replace the quote, or is someone willing to figure out what rationalist!Bella from Luminosity should really be called?
To be honest, I'm not really impressed with the current quote in any case. And Guile Hero is a trope which should offer tons of great options for notable, memorable, quotes. I mean, it's a trope about clever people! People who are inherently quotable. Surely we can do better than what we've got!
(I took a look at the Quotes page, wasn't particularly impressed with the options there, either.)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Would it be okay if I axed the lengthy [[note]] tag somebody put in the middle of Men in Black's page quote? It just strikes me as Natter, and hiding it in a note isn't really helping it not stick out like a sore thumb..
Moon◊^ Seconded. Nix it.
Yanked.
For the record:
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, note and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Just imagine what you'll know tomorrow.
What is up currently is the same, but without the note.
Moon◊The page quote for Floating Head Syndrome references a poster that might not really look like an example, or does it? (Click the link to Groundhog Day to see it.)
Agreed, it doesn't really fit.
A quote was added to '20s Bob Haircut that seems... at best tangentially relevant. No mention is made of 20s or a bob, just of a haircut.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Also, I just checked to see if the band was something from the time period in question - nope, they're a modern folk rock group. (Edit: Although the song in question is about that time period, so...hmmm...)

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)That looks pretty cutworthy. A trope like that is purely visual and doesn't really need a quote to begin with, so adding one that doesn't even relate to the trope is extremely pointless.
On an unrelated note, the God Does Not Own This World quote seems to belong on another page entirely. As a replacement, I think this George Lucas quote works well:
George Lucas: No.
The quote in You Can't Go Home Again seem more suitable for Stranger in a Familiar Land. Thoughts?
I agree that the current trope doesn't really fit. If there's need for a replacement, the Dragon Age II quote on the Quote page fits much better.
The quote for Word Salad Philosophy contains wicks. Should we remove the wicks or the whole quote? No idea about a replacement at the moment; busy doing some cleanup.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportOh my. That's bordering on Wall of Text.
I say cut.

Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Seeing as no one could answer my earlier Great American Novel question, I'm going to assume that it was made up by the original editor and pull it for now.
If anyone has any suggestions for the page, feel free to make them.
