This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Oops. I skimmed the thread and thought the Bifauxnen comments were in reference to the Gilgamesh quote from Braggart Boss.
I don't like it... It illustrates an underlying idea about the trope, but it doesn't really illustrate the trope itself. I wouldn't bother putting it on the quotes page, I don't think it's really relevant to the trope. It just seems tangential to me.

I think it makes sense, it could just be a little more illustrative. The trope is a thing that nobody ever wants to name. The quote is about how nobody ever wants to say "Macbeth". It does take a minute to parse if you're not already familiar with the trope, though (which is exactly who we need to keep in mind when writing these pages; a Main namespace page that only makes sense to someone who is already familiar with it is not much use as a page).
tl;dr I agree that it could be better, but I don't think it's bad as-is.
A recent Ask The Tropers query regarding trope page The Abridged Series got me thinking: I kinda hate that page quote.
The context of the quote is that it was a thinly veiled author monologue about how Little Kuriboh is upset at the growing number of Abridged Series out there, and how his Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series show is no longer special as a result.
It says nothing about the trope, or about what an Abridged Series is, and it's extremely long.
I vote we either replace it or just delete it. The quotes page has a quote from Evangelion Abridged that could work as it actually kinda explains the trope, but I'd still prefer something more concise.
For some reason, there was a commnented out note to leave the multiple quotes be because "it works", but I don't think there's been an official discussion or consensus for it, so I changed it accordingly.
As you should hve. The official policy is one per page, period. If the troper that added that wants to argue it, they can take it up with the mods, and not just arbitrarily decide that the policy should be ignored.
Unfortunately, the admittedly funny text after the quote was no longer really appropriate without the pot hole, so I removed that text as well.
That's fine, IMO. While it wasn't entirely irrelevant to the trope, it wasn't essential to it either.
Attract Mode: Nuking the second one is fine. That does, however, bring up...
Crazy Taxi: Is the theme song rendering really necessary? The "play this game" tagline isn't really anything special other than being from the game itself, but the theme stuff seems a bit pointless, even ignoring the whole pothole issue.
The Abridged Series: The current quote can go without screwing anything up, I think. As for a replacement, none of the ones on the quote page really strike me as useful for a trope quote. I wouldn't be averse to just leaving it blank until a better suggestion comes along.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpFunctional Addict has two quotes, neither of which I am hot about.
Yeah, neither are really good, but out of all the options we currently have (including the ones from the Quotes tab), I like the first one best, because second one is pretty much just stating the trope name, plus some word cruft.
I support using the Carlin quote for FA. It's the best of the available options, as far as I can see.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThe quote from Brainwashed goes over my head without context. How do you feel about it?

Yeah, that quote just sounds like Undying Loyalty to me. The 1984 quote from the quotes page seems like the best replacement. The character's name is spoilered out, but that work is over 60 years old anyway, so I don't think it needs to be.
Re: Functional Addict, I'm pretty sure House, M.D. and/or Archer have both had pretty good lines relating to the trope, so I can try to track down some of those to see if there's anything good.
EDIT: Nothing on their quotes pages, and I can't be bothered to rewatch seven seasons of House on the off chance that he once dropped a line that would encapsulate the Functional Addict trope.
EDIT EDIT: I like the 1984 quote, but to avoid the spoiler tag and the legitimate spoiler of the speaker's identity, I'd suggest changing it to say "Interrogator" instead of "O'Brien", or something similar. Unless we think everything in 1984 is It Was His Sled anyway due to its age and ubiquity.

Dig the 1984 quote.
Suggestion for Finishing Each Other's Sentences. The current quote is not bad but it lacks in the wit department.
What about this one from Scary Movie 4:
Cindy Campbell: It looks like we have a lot in...
Tom Ryan: ...common.
Cindy: We're already finishing each other's...
Tom: ...dinner!
Cindy: ...sentences.
damn, why are quotes not working in a quotes threads?

I like it much better. But I might add something like "[beat]" at the end of Cindy's first two lines, to make it clear that there's an awkward pause there. Yes, ellipses should signify an extended pause in dialogue, but Viewers Are Morons and ellipses are too often used to signify an interruption where an em dash should be used instead. Some sort of horrible literary Coconut Effect in its infancy, I suppose.
I'd also remove the ellipses from the beginning of each line that has it, they're not necessary and don't serve much purpose.
Of course, none of that has any bearing on the trope, just the accuracy of the quote.

Just go for it.
You're asking me to add it?
The page quote on Driving Question was changed unilaterally by johnnyfog. I like the original one better - would it be alright to change it back? For reference, this was the original quote:
Trinity: It's the question that drives us mad. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.
Neo: "What is the Matrix?"
And this is the new quote:
The first question! The question that must never be answered! Hidden in plain sight! The question you've been running from all your life! ...Doctor Who?
It would be inaccurate to call the Driving Question "the question that must never be answered" - in a lot of works, the whole point of the Driving Question is answering them.

A genius, a philosopher, an abstract thinkerThe original is better. Change it back.
Not to mention, the DW quote is a mild spoiler.
Very mild definitely, but the Matrix one is still better. Changed back.
The stinger on Nightcrawler is redundant with the page quote and doesn't happen in the film. Voting to strike it or replace it with another line...possibly "I'd like to think if you're seeing me you're having the worst day of your life." or "Remember, use your zoom, steady hands."
Question: Should there be a space after the dash for the quote source?
— Narrator or —Narrator. Is mostly the first version floating around.
I think the first version is more aesthetically pleasant.
I do not agree with the recently added quote to Real Men Cook.
->Schmidt: Your caveman ideas about manhood are so over. Manhood today is about exfoliation, Ha! And cheese courses, and emotional honesty, and Paxil. And yes, cutting peppers in the classic style de julienne. You may have bested me in a competition of pre-Clinton manhood, but I am Schmidt. A refined and enlightened pescetarian.''
The page says, "Also, the style of cooking may affect the relative manliness of the act," and "Expect him to be flipping burgers or steaks on a grill, preparing food on the trail for the rest of the team, or preparing a meal to impress a female companion." Just because someone says that manhood is about cutting peppers in a certain way doesn't make it manly.

It does miss the point, and it's definitely long for a quote. Remove and replace, I say.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry Pratchett

What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Without the spoiler tag, it just doesn't make sense.
