We're going to appoint people in each of the subforums to welcome newbies in by an automated PM and show them how things work in the particular subforum.
The appointment thing is so that at least one person knows it is their job, and so the newbie doesn't get buried under a PM onslaught the first time they post.
We will give the appointee (now called Heralds) a spiffy icon badge so people will know they are on the job for everybody. There will also be access to a report that shows who is new in the subforum.
If you want to apply for the position, all you have to do is post a welcome draft here. That way, a moderator will consider you. If someone else has already applied for the position, don't worry! Multiple people can apply for one subforum.
This is a list of the heralds that have already been appointed and the subforums that still need heralds.
Open sections with inactive heralds:

- Ori Doodle — Old Folks Home
- Cyto Zytokine — New Media
- Totemic Hero — Webcomics

Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.Just be patient. Once someone looks at it, they'll tell you what to do.(rewrite it, you now being a herald, whatever) The wiki has been somewhat busy lately, so...
I shot Lu a PM about editing a couple messages, so she may come check here as well. There is often delay, don't worry.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. That's nice to know,so what else goes on in here?
Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.Usually requests for changes to our messages if we need them, related questions that come up and need to be answered (like "How do I get the badge?", "how does the message work?", etc.), other stuf like that.
I don’t even know anymore.That's cool,I hope I can become a herald.
Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.Sorry folks. My new operating system has been a nightmare so far. Now...
I need a new herald for World Building, since the previous one is largely gone. Is anyone interested? Otherwise, I'll just go poking in that subforum.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerSo as far as this thread is concerned, what is the current agenda?
Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.I would like to volunteer to be a herald.
I'm willing to accept the World Building herald position. Do I have to make another greeting?
I also made greetings for two subforums:
Here's my rough draft for forum games:
"Howdy [[troper]]! Welcome to the Forum Games subforum!
If you received this, you most likely made your first post in this subforum. Well, I guess I should give you the skinny.
The Forum Games is for the most part pretty much what it seems like: a place where tropers can have some fun and play games. Almost all of the games do not require sign-ups; most of them tropers can jump in.
You are allowed to make any kind of game in this here subforum. You can make the strangest game ever, the fastest game ever, even the most esoteric game ever, as long as it's fun for you. Just don't make it overly sexual, a pathway for cuberbullying, or overall illegal.
There are a couple of important things to check out:
- Just because we tend to more relaxed, as a subforum called Forum Games should suggest, doesn't mean we don't require some rules; civility is a must anywhere on this site. In addition to the general forum rules, please read over the The Super Serious Forum Game Rules Thread. We don't want anyone to ruin the fun solely because they were a dick! (Don't be a dick!) So, please, please, please, PLEASE read over both. PLEASE! We would rather not see a fight because one person derailed "Guess about the next poster" into a cybersexing thread.
- The Forum Game Recommendations Thread is the best place to ask regular goers of this subforum to help you find some games that they believe might tickle your fancy. Even if you have crazy specifications (that aren't too creepy for TV Tropes), maybe that type of game already exists! Just make sure your requests aren't vague or illegal!
Well, that's all I have to say. Just have fun, and don't be a dick! PM me for any questions."
Here's one for Live Action Film:
"Hey there [[troper]]!
Welcome here to the Live Action Film subforum! This is for movies filmed with real people; animated films are considered Western Animation. Any genre of live action movie can go into this thread. If you like silent movies, action flicks, or romantic comedies, this is the place to talk about them. Everything from Alfred Hitchcock to Tim Burton can go here.
Please read the rules if you haven't done. This is a thread in the TV Tropes forum; it's not exempt from these rules. Please, please, please, PLEASE read over them. PLEASE! We would rather not see a fight because one person derailed a thread about Fargo.
This thread's a good place for pitching a film idea. If you have some sort of odd movie to come up with, you can let your creative juices flow here. Whether it's X Meets Y or just an overly silly premise, here's where you put your ideas.
The threads are for general discussion, not too specific. You can talk about whatever you like in the purview of the thread, but don't go into illegal territory, or derail the thread, but sometimes there are big franchises that may need more than one thread. Don't make a thread for a film that wouldn't be okay with the 5P. If a page for a film would be locked, it shouldn't be here. Otherwise, anything live action film goes.
PM me for any miscellaneous questions regarding the live action film subforum.
That's all I have to say, really. Have fun discussing your favorite movies! Popcorn is optional."

I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful. If you're applying for the World Building herald position, you need to provide a draft of your PM for that subforum.
Oh. Well how are my other drafts? Look okay?
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.Hello?
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.I think Lu's busy at the moment. She's the one that makes the decisions. You might be waiting a bit for her to make the call.
I think your drafts look okay, though. Then again, I'm not one of the higher-ups (Coughity cough cough MODS), so I don't think my opinion counts.
I don’t even know anymore.Thank you.
Alright, lu. Here's a minor redux.

This section is for casual discussion of Live Action Film. That can mean individual series, franchises, or general discussion of the medium (as in the movies filmed with real people; not animated).

I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful. So, there doesn't seem to be an active herald in the Worldbuilding forum.
Also, the last list of outstanding applications. FWIW, if double-duty is allowed I am still up for Trope Talk.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanA suggestion for the Forum Games message: Please add a paragraph that the forum is not for roleplaying and it can be found on another part of the forum, and they have their own rules.
Hello there~!
I think I'd be the herald that TV Tropes needs, but not the one TV Tropes deserves.
I kid. But I'm a stickler for the rules, and I am very friendly and warm. I've already started welcoming newbies and have helped them out by sending PMs and instructing them on how to use markup and the rules.

ಠ_ಠWhich subforum would you like? Most of the right and middle are occupied, I think.
Fresh-eyed movie blogList of untaken fora, for the record.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'd like to apply for Forum Games.
To those wanting to apply: write up what you would have your PM be, if you were to be chosen for the position. That's the primary application procedure.
For the record, I think there are at least two applications for Forum Games already. It's just been months since applications have been reviewed.
Fresh-eyed movie blogStill here and willing, in case you are wondering.

That is an improvement,I'm sure that my punctuation was incorrect.
