The plan is not to cut Anime Tropes, merely to cut it back so that it doesn't get misused.

Really? The note on the page says: This page is going away, Japanese tropes are now in the categories listed in the floatbox.

Also, given that we now have a Japanese Animation Tropes index, having an Anime Tropes index seems rather pointless.

I'll back up this thread to see what is happening.

Ok, to be honest I have a hard time figuring this out. We'll probably need shimaspawn's statement on this.

Most Anime Tropes on the page appear to be far better under the general Japanese Media Tropes and Japanese Animation Tropes umbrella. We could easily get rid of it.

Thus, the last thing to do is to sort all the entries in the index out into other indexes and then redirect this - to Japanese Animation Tropes, since it's the most closely related.

Lightning Glare is definitely western. Found in Krazy Kat, Mutt & Jeff, and yes, Asterix, among many others.

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.

So, should we just remove it.

I was thinking it would be better as a Disambiguation, but whatever works.

I took off Lightning Glare.

Now, to sort things around...

Always in Class One, Anime Hair, Anime Catholicism and Artificial Riverbank seem to all be Japanese Media Tropes.

Agree on Anime Hair, Anime Catholicism and Artificial Riverbank (although the latter may need some repairing as it seems to be unjustified Japanese-specific, it now is Japanese).

Always in Class One - not seeing how it's Japanese.

I assume it's Japanese because that's how the Japanese school system organizes its classes. We don't do it like that in America. (At least, my schools never did.)

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up]Yeah, I've never been in, and have never seen depicted in American media, an American school that numbers classes that way.

Chaste Teens - where does that go? It's about romance, not sex, BTW.

Moe and This And That can be moved to Japanese Media Tropes.

Chaste Teens seems more like a Love Tropes.

Anyway, my reasoning for why we should disambiguate instead of redirect:

Most of the problems seem to come from people who are putting any trope they've seen in an anime on the index. I'm hoping that putting an electronic intersection where the editor has to think about their options instead of directly redirecting them to another page to edit will make them try to figure out where the trope goes and read the general descriptions.

I'll move Chaste Teens to Love Tropes, and we should note that this trope probably needs to be either sent to TRS to have its definition/name tweaked and/or sent to YKTTW to collect non-Japanese examples.

I'm adding indexing to Japanese Stock Phrases. This And That is already there, so I will remove it from Anime Tropes.

Also, Short Anime Movie is going to Japanese Animation Tropes.

Shy Blue-Haired Girl can go to Japanese Visual Arts Tropes.

Loud Speaker Truck probably needs rename, since it isn't about the truck but about having a truck being heard under certain circumstances.

Exactly how are we distinguished Japanese Visual Arts Tropes and Manga Effects, given that many Manga Effects are used in both anime and manga?

Hexagonal Speech Balloon, for example, is used by both.

I do not think that an overlap between Japanese Visual Arts Tropes and Manga Effects by itself is a cause of concern.

Manga Effects are carried over from manga, apparently.

Agree on the other motions.

Japanese Visual Arts Tropes would be the super trope to Manga Effects. Manga Effects would be the tropes that explicitly originated in manga, while Japanese Visual Arts Tropes would be the overall trope for any tool generated graphics trope. For instance, if CGI was popular in Japan and they started making their own tropes, I'd call that visual arts.

Magical Girl Queenliness Test is already on Magical Girl Tropes and handful of other indexes, so I'll go ahead and delete it from Anime Tropes.

I don't remember seeing Comical Angry Face in non-anime(sque)/manga/Japanese visual-media works, in the manner that the definition describes.

I've seen it in The Legend Of Korra, WITCH, and I have this inkling Gunnerkrigg Court used it too.
