EDIT: god dammit internet

It's Tendo. He tried killing Worms without Clock Up at first just to see if he can.
Wasn't he dared to do it so that he could save one of his sister figures?
who probably went to go bang his evil counterpart from another universe?
Not in the instance that is referring to, no.
Still... the Hyper Zecter and Perfect Zecter were spread out enough that they feel like two separate, unrelated powerups. And the Hyper Zecter at least had a lot of build-up and was introduced beforehand...
Managed to DL the rest of Kabuto today, so now the only thing stopping me from finishing it is free time.
Aaaaaaand, after going back 65 pages in the thread to find out where the hell I was at, I'll be resuming KR Amazon, as well. Starting back from the last ep I watched, being ep 10. Which was awesome.
Kabuto 38
...this came weirdly close to feeling like a GTO crossover.
Also, evil Worm shenanigans, and Juka's right in the thick of it. Again. Ah well, at least they use that plotline sparingly...
Y'know, Kagami's a pretty cool dude. It's a shame there aren't any chicks that dig him, outside of movie!Hiyori. ...unless I start inventing Renge subtext, maybe.
AND THEN SUDDENLY SASWORD!!
Bullshit Perfect Zecter is bullshit.
Random HCU shenanigans, with an apparent preview of the total solar eclipse!
___
ep 39
And now we're straight into Reina kicking Kabuto's ass.
Day-umn, clocked her right in the noggin, he did.
Oh, hey, Daisuke's back.
Daisuke: "I hope I can get close to the world's most beautiful woman."
, now watch Gon be the world's most beautiful woman when she becomes an adult. Wouldn't that be funny?

Even Tendou completely falls the fuck apart when he thinks his imouto has fallen in love. That is... wow, that's a special kind of amazing that I didn't even know existed. Now I really wish I could've watched this scene dubbed....
!! And he even switches immediately back to his usual cool demeanor when the emergency passes!
Meanwhile, Daisuke's still up to his usual tricks.
Reina's rockin' that Amnesiac Dissonance somethin' fierce.

...It's not surprising that Kamishiro would attract a lot of female attention, but where the hell has he been to get that many love letters?! Mahora Academy?!
Hiyori's room looks surprisingly... normal.
Aaaaand the Hopper bros. even have coded ramen - li'l bro miso and big bro spicy.
<thinks about the annoying bits of Kamishiro's character development lately>
<re-hears above line>
...Worth It.
<Misaki claims that she's in a relationship with Kagami>
...oh lord. This can only end in tears. Sweet, hilarious tears.
...oh. wow. That... didn't lead into a hilarious shitstorm Freak Out. I was totally wrong. And now I feel sad. Few things are sadder than a late-series Kamishiro that's trying not to cry.
...you know, I'm kind of surprised that the Red Shoes system hasn't come up since its introduction...
And instead of my Tempting Fate paying off, we instead get our first proper look at Dark Kabuto.
_____
ep 40
Well I'll be damned - Dark Kabuto out-Rider Kick'd the real Kabuto.
Time for a quick public service announcement - if you're ever beset by the Hopper bros., you can stop them with liberal application of a fire extinguisher. And now you know, And Knowing Is Half the Battle!
o.0
From BSOD to Shipper on Deck in less than half an episode (from one ep to the next)? Truly, Kamishiro is the man who stands at the top of overcoming his baggage.
Now we're getting those hilarious tears I was talking about!
Dramatic drama is dramatic.
FINALLY, Clock Up is acknowledged again!
_____
ep 41
And now ZECT has some kind of gas weapon that forcibly reveals Worms en masse. Also, damn there're a lot of 'em.
And now Shadow is suddenly competent, now that they no longer have TheBee to hold them back!
...Kamishiro is taking things surprisingly well. But then, he is the man who stands at the top of not angsting over his best friend and crush lying to him.
...seriously starting to hope that Mishima gets kille- oh my god. All this time, I could've been doing the reference, but it never occurred to me... This is it! I have correct that grievous error! ahem....
...I feel so much better after that.
<some time later>
And now we're talking about the Red Shoes again, even though they only came up the one time.
....poor Kagami. Damn near the only guy in ZECT he still trusted, Tadokoro, turned out to be a Native.
HOLY SHIT! CANEGUY IS EVEN FASTER THAN HYPER CLOCK UP?! HOW THE <bleep> DOES THAT WORK?!
_____
ep 42
Hell with Super-Speed, this guy has a bona fide timestop.
<gasp>
It's laughing tofu guy! He's back! And not peddling tofu this time! Also, lol at Kamishiro in formal Victorian-looking dress walking in a line with the punk-as-can-be Hopper bros.
<some time and lots of Character Development later>
Welp, now caneguy's dead, Kamishiro's back out of Hell, and Kagami's back in the saddle too.
Nope, apparently caneguy isn't dead after all.
And now Dark Kabuto's come to the normal world too.
_____
ep 43
...Dark Tendou is kinda fun. And totally cleaned Kabuto's cloc-
THAT'S! NOT! FAIR! ONLY RIDERS ARE ALLOWED TO DO A RIDER KICK!!!
....man, that's gotta suck for Tendou.
________
ep 44
Also, why the heck does Hiyori suddenly look (and act) so much younger than she did before? Were there scheduling issues with the main actress, or something?
...Tendou claims that Dark Tendou is a Worm, but we haven't ever actually seen that guy reveal himself as one...
ALL RIGHT, now we're getting some of the old Tsurugi back...!
And now Kageyama's returned to being TheBee.
...welp, Kusakabe's pissed off an- WTF, two MORE caneguys?!
The Red Shoes System is probably the most egregious victim of Writing by the Seat of Your Pants. It sounds cool and scary but is painfully underutilized. Also I really hated what they did to Tsurugi's character. It's so hard to watch this great tragic character be used as zany comic relief that just hurts the tone of the show. The Hopper Brothers are equally silly but feel more in line with everything else that's happening. Tsurugi just gets a cool dramatic introduction and a great dramatic arc at the end of the show, with a lot of repetitive gags in between. It's like a sandwich where the bread is steak and the filling is ice cream. They can be in the same meal, but not in such close proximity.
And did everyone hear about the Kamen Rider Chaser V-Cinema coming in April? I'm really hyped and probably gonna preorder it since it comes with a break gunner.

I used to really hate Tsurugi being made comic relief, but some particular scenes are just so funny that I can't hate it anymore (MY LOVER!!! MISAKIIIIIN!!!!).
Very happy about Chaser getting a V-Cinema. Probably won't buy it as import prices are rightfully harsh but it also comes with a new viral core (it's blatantly a re-use of at least part of the Lupin blade car mold but that's still cool).
They're harsh, but Break Gunner prices are equally so. You can't get one under $100 anymore, so it's a choice between the one with the original voice (and I guess the DX bat viral core if for some reason you're too good for gash/candy toy) or the one that comes with a unique viral core, new sounds, and a movie for roughly the same price. The choice is pretty easy for me. I'm hoping that they're just reusing the Lupin core's blade and the car itself will be a new mold, but so far all the other video pack-ins have been repaints, so I'm not super optimistic. It's not a bad mold anyway.
Given that I'm down to the last handful of episodes, any thoughts on what Heisei Rider show I should do next? (out of Kuuga, Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Den-O, or Kiva; saving Ryuki until after I finish Dragon Knight)
edited 30th Sep '15 10:58:53 AM by EvaUnit01
Of those I've watched Kuuga, Den-O, and 40 episodes of Kiva. Personally I've enjoyed Kiva the most of those three, but if you like Tsurugi's brand of humor I think you'll really enjoy Den-O.
So where's the sub of 48.
I'm checking my usual place, and I still haven't seen it yet.
One Strip! One Strip!Overtime released their subs of 48 on Sunday. Unless you're waiting on TV-Nihon in which case 1) why would you do that to yourself and 2) don't they usually release on Fridays?
Kamen Rider X Kamen Rider Movie Wars 2016 - Official Movie Title Revealed
"Yup. That tasted purple."Interesting.
Perhaps the name is due to being the beginning of a new share continuity, after Gaim broke away from that trend.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah but didn't the latest Super Hero Taisen force all the shows before and after Gaim back into continuity with each other? If anything Ghost would be the start of a new universe because of his appearance in episode 47 of Drive and even then episode 48 is weird in that it establishes Ghost as sharing a universe with Drive and the others despite episode 47 having him appear to Shinnosuke in a dream by coming out of a portal.
Basically whether or not Ghost started its own new universe is up in the air.
Drive and Ghost sharing a universe normally does seem very possible, yes.
Kamen Rider Taisen basically just went with a policy of "you're in a different universe but we're crossing over anyway damn it" though, so it only really matters for continuity's sake.
Movies are not continuity.
I find it funny that they're now trying to make continuity when they attempted to do so in Double.
Please don't try to make sense of Kamen Rider continuity. It just never works. As long as every season has different writers who want different degrees of interconnectedness they'll never all fit neatly together. And that's fine. If every season had to work around the seasons before and after it they'd be limited in their ability to do global events like the Helheim invasion without the fridge logic of "but where are all those other riders who should be helping to save the day?"
It kinda works if you allow for travel between alternate universes. Most movies are still non-serial, yes, but crossovers can happen without breaking continuity.
x5
Um the OOO x Fourze movie is canon though since the show references it. Seems like that would mean the other movies are canon as well.

Yeah, but Fourze, Wizard, Gaim, and even Agito were all using their Super Mode's respective weapons pretty much from the moment they got aforementioned Super Mode. Tendou, by contrast, spent a good handful of episodes or so using Hyper Form without any indication that the Perfect Zecter was even remotely possibly a thing.
