Character Development Thread--Discussion

Hmm...it seems like I have plenty of Muggle people in my disposal:

• Justin Peterson, pre DeathNote.
• Chris.
• Alexander, Alexander, and Alex.
• Narrator from "Lucky Thirteen".
• Trudy.

...and a lot more people. It's a great thing I dabble in realistic genres and non-magical characters!

But is it okay if the character is from a fantasy series? (Justin Peterson loses his Muggle status at the start of his story, Trudy is from Ian Down]]).

Also, a lot of my characters are teenagers and twenty-somethings because I am a teenager, and I'm aiming to write in the Young Adult genre.

@JHM: You can let it stand as meta if you want to, but I didn't tell you any of my character's abilities yet.

I always thought Sigmund and Vince would get along; they both seem to run on ambition. I'd try to depower him into someone semi-normal, but I find his personality improbable for someone with a normal lifespan, let alone someone who is as old as he looks (forty).

Eh, maybe the time after next.

Oh, now I have another idea for who I could use- one of Vince's sons. They're all weird in some way or another (no thanks to Dad), but can be depowered with almost no losses. They also take after Dad very strongly.

I've ideas, characters factions etc. from my own worlds, but very few if any have any sort of supernatural element at all much less characters with supernatural powers. Guess if I'll be contributing anything it'll have to be mostly Badass Normals. Which given the Iceberg idea would be ideal right? Suppose we'll discuss it here before I'm allowed to bring anything in, just for clarity and consensus' sake?

Also as long as we're talking Art (those sketches aren't bad chihuahua0) I know this guy who might be interested in participating in these threads. He is an aspiring concept artist and by all I've seen of him is certainly talented, though he won't admit it. Actually, me and him go a ways back and have had trouble organizing R Ps, so when I pointed the existence of this out to him he was very interested.

What says you folk?

Also, what do you mean by "concept artist"?

By that I meant that he draws shit, and is damn good at it in my opinion. And aren't people still joining? Wasn't there a new character in here recently? I guess he'd be late, but he's been keeping up with it. He's just been lurking, as far as I know.

I think she's just saying it just might be more difficult for your character to join in, not that you can't.

So...does anyone here mind if the magician intentionally makes everyone's lives miserable?

If it's in-character for him, which, so far, seems probable.

Since your magician is probably the only one who can give Kiora a run for her money, go ahead.

Kinda starting to regret using her for this. Should have used a character I don't know as well.

Thinking about it, Kiora is similar to most fanfiction protagonits. I'm not sure about Justin Peterson though.

Should I use Justin Peterson for Character Iceburg? I'm thinking of having him fall into insanity as the stakes get higher.

Had a Troper character ever died on a Character Thread? I want the honors to be responsiable for one, at a Troper's consent.

She's the protagonist from my first fanfic, so... yeah. Funny thing is, as far as the fic is concerned, this carnival is canon.

Also, I know it's late, but for those who know about Justin Peterson, what do you think of him? Is he intersting?

EDIT: Also, I'll be able to post until about 6 AM Central Time or so tomorrow, since I'm thinking of waking up extra early. I wonder if I can sleep for only five hours without no ill effect.

Um... let's see... a oneshot character in Hotel was sniped, and Genovefa of Outpost succumbed to a poison termed XA-3 by Isaac Rose. You see Alice with darts tipped with XA-3 very early on in the thread, like within the first three pages.

And Justin... he seems rather unassuming. Very not-Kira.

Aww...I wanted Justin to stab someone to death in a bloody fashion.

The reason why Justin seems un-Kira like is because I wanted him to be different than Light. The problem is working with his extrovertness and making him being involved in the conflict of his story. I considered making him more cold than timid, and even gender-flipping him and giving her glasses, but I like his current personality. He pretty much have a high standing in his mutli-verse, even though most of the other characters are more powerful in combat.

EDIT: Actually, I'll knock Mary out just before my school trip, and let the characters deal with her cotomose body.

I do like the idea of an unassuming guy as Kira rather than a successful, suave, wannabe-Magnificent Bastard prone to ungraceful Freak Outs.

And, yes, Genovefa is a Troper character. She belongs to Bobby G.

EDIT: Hm? That works.

It seems like our only pending plot threads are: "Find out what's causing all of the paranormal activity" and "Find the girl's goldfish".

@animemetalhead: Kiora is far from the most Sue-ish character I've seen about these threads; plus, she seems to get on perfectly fine in context.

And also, once I'm back, I'll consider initiating the end-game.

Let's say that the characters would get more of the carnival to explore.

Then one night on a blue moon, they spot a sudden iceberg.

The kicker is you play as a Muggle. Strip away the special fantasy background and powers as your training wheels. A true test of character awaits.

I'd personally like it if it wasn't on the Titanic, because I know what happened to the Titanic. Overall it seems rather interesting, maybe I should make my own character up just like I did with Rainar.

Mary acutally hadn't gotten far from the fight. She's still on the same road. Just send a stray attack on her way.

EDIT: And I noticed that a Troper put some examples of good and bad posts on the Character Development Thread page. Nice touch.
