Mirai Nikki is the big one.
Doesn't this topic already exist, as TV Tropes as a Gateway Drug?
A wiki page and a forum thread are distinctly different things.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAlso, given that this thread was started 5 and a half years ago, it is probably a little late to be questioning the validity of its existence.
Which probably was before the wiki page.

Check out my fanfiction!Personally, I think the forums are more suitable for things like this anyway. If anything, TV Tropes as a Gateway Drug sounds more likely to predate them.

The YKTTW for TV Tropes as a Gateway Drug dates to 2009. The OP of this thread dates to 2007.
...Maybe we could just move this to Yack Fest?
And I think I discovered a game or two from here.
- Peachi, and it was glorious.
- The Spoony Experiment, but that doesn't count because I don't like how Spoony conducts himself in Real Life. I'm kind of embarrassed about ever liking him in the first place.
- Retsupurae: Also glorious, even though I don't really watch/read Let's Plays.
I think the only series I discovered via the wiki is MLP:Fi M.
Also, I agree with Irene, this feels like it belongs in Yack Fest.
My point was that it feels like a "pages we made because the forums didn't exist yet" sort of thing.
I agree on moving this to Yack Fest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXkI1sTDoEgDisgaea, Blaz Blue (the trope page convinced me to buy CS), and Future Diary.
Everything is a lie.I used to wonder what friendship could be come share this magic with me.
and that anime about a tough guy whose hand turns into a little girl
The 1632 series, the Belisarius series, the Alicorn-written Twilight fanfic duo of Radiance and Luminosity, Darksiders, Saints Row, and that is about it I think.
Do The Avalanches count?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Marble Hornets was the first true example, but I got into xkcd as a result of someone linking me to it's page on this site.
WELCOME TO MEME HELL!!!All of the webcomics I read.
ಠ_ಠNeon Genesis Evangelion, which led to Madoka Magica, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Serial Experiments Lain. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, because of its prominence on the wiki.
So... Anime?
Which inspired me to want to draw webcomics.
So basically, TVT is the reason I started (seriously) drawing.

Novel progress: The Adroan (110k words), Yume no Hime (81k), The Pigeon Witch (40k)And that is how I started watching ponies. And Tokyo Mew Mew. And Happy Tree Friends, and...
...Dammit, let's just say half of everything I watch now. TMM was one of the first, though.

Hard to explain and to express, forever just a work in progress (he/they)Webomics, Video Games, and Anime... too many to list!
Blue-and-Orange Morality! It's my new favorite trope! Also, it's my signature trope! It's also going to be my Catchphrase!
Now this is an old thread...
Well, most anime I see is just what comes up in the news on some anime site I'm not going to specify. But what I specifically looked up from here are Mahou Sensei Negima!, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Spice And Wolf, Claymore, Scrapped Princess, Change 123, Haruhi Suzumiya, Saya no Uta, Lucky Star, Katanagatari, School Days, and Higurashi: When They Cry. Of course, I've also checked up on series before watching to see if it was interesting, but I don't count that. These are the ones I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
