    DIO

DIO Brando

A vampire who has ruined the life of Jonathan Joestar, using his body as a prosthetic with his head attached. His goal is to create his own ideal world, but he then becomes antagonized by the newest descendants of the Joestar Family and the 7th Stand User. His Stand is The World.

  • The Bad Guy Wins: In the betrayal ending.
  • Better Living Through Evil: If you join him in the betrayal ending, he'll grant you (and Kakyoin and Polnareff if they joined you) vampirism as a reward for loyalty, along with the whole "can grant almost any comfort with a fingersnap".
  • Big Bad: Of the main plot.
  • Colour-Coded Timestop: When he uses The World, the background inverts colors.
  • Duel Boss: In the Mad World ending, if the protagonist chooses to betray him too. And in the boss rush leading to one of the "Everyone Lives" endings if the protagonist chooses not to bring any companions. And in the Senator Wilson Phillips ending.
  • Deader than Dead: If he's defeated, but you die to Vins in the end game from the third playthrough and up, you'll enter the Sanctuary and see that he's not a resident there. If you ask one of the demons there about him, they'll say he was there but that he passed onwards.
  • Final Boss: Only if your total FP is less than 30... Or if you're on the Mad World ending route.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In the betrayal ending.
  • Leitmotif: DIO's World.
  • Remembered I Could Fly: DIO mainly uses his stand and knives to fight you and your party, but in this game, he can still use his vampiric powers such as Space Ripper Stingy Eyes and Vampiric Freezing.
  • Superboss: Shadow Dio can be found in the Sanctuary. While he doesn't have the World, he does have a few other tricks.
  • The Unfought: In the default/manga and the bad ending.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Special mention goes to the Mad World Ending if you have 30 UV Flash Grenades. After the protagonist uses the betrayal of the Joestars to discern DIO's power, DIO promptly stops time to kill them. He then notices the UV Flash Grenades all over the room that the Protagonist planted during the fight, so he's forced to waste time destroying them so they don't hurt him or destroy the walls and allow the sunlight from outside in. And when time runs out and he gloats to the protagonist that he's destroyed all of them, the protagonist simply pulls out more! DIO is quite pissed, to say the least.
    • He's also quite miffed in Iggy, Joseph and/or Avdol's ending fight, where when it's revealed the "Joseph" he sucked was just a Sand Clone made by Iggy, or that Joseph is gone thanks to Avdol/Rainbow's arrival. Either way, he's deprived of the blood he needs to be at full power. Joseph's hidden ending is also particularly brutal to him where the Ripple Warriors, courtesy of Alicia and Berlin, give DIO a Humiliation Conga exploiting his weaknesses as a vampire.
  • You Have No Idea Who You're Dealing With: Says as such against Caesar when he appears in Joseph's ending, mainly in saying that he's not just some other vampire. Cue SEVERAL Oh, Crap! moments brought on by Stroheim, Dire, and Speedwagon as they use his vampiric weaknesses against him.

DIO's Minions

    In General

These encompass both tropes concerning most of the original cast that didn't receive more characterization in the game as well as new tropes introduced in the game.

  • Accidental Murder: Though in the original series, most of the minions were said to be retired however the protagonists defeated them, more than a few appear in the Sanctuary, meaning they actually have died. Of particular note, Arabia Fats was left in the desert and starved to death, and ZZ says that everyone thought he really was training and never helped him.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Thanks to the player character being along for the ride, a few of the minor villains can seem even worse than in the manga because they have an extra person to target (and often will, so there can be more fights that involve them). Of particular note is Steely Dan, who outright threatens to "have his way with" a female player character if she stayed with Jotaro in Karachi, as another way to get under Jotaro's skin.
  • Cutscene Boss: Given how well-made the game is, there are a few scenarios where some of the Stand Users can simply be skipped with the right stand. For example, Carpenters or Cardigans will allow for skipping Death 13, and Ocean Blue or Crazy Diamond for Wheel of Fortune.
  • Death by Adaptation: While most of the minions are said to be retired in the manga and anime, here the fact that they appear in the Sanctuary is proof that they did die.
  • Last of His Kind: It would be easier to state which of DIO's minions DON'T die, either by accident or because DIO didn't think them to be useful anymore. The only minions that don't appear in the Sanctuary are Rainbow, Hol Horse, Oingo and Boingo, Mannish Boy, Midler, Mariah, and the D'arby Brothers, though this can potentially change in Chaos Mode.
  • Never My Fault: Most of the villains you meet again in Sanctuary are more annoyed that you beat them than remorseful of the rotten things they did that got them killed.
  • Sequential Boss: Some bosses are fought one after the other or have multiple fights to them that happen right after the first. For example, Polnareff's two fights, The Sun and Death 13, N'Doul with Geb, Mariah and Alessi, and later no less than 5 potential fights with Anubis!
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Funnily enough, this is played a bit more in game. Joey and Devo outright think the other's stand is subpar compared to their stand (both of the stands being Perverse Puppets), Kate outright hates Forever and Sweet Amber and her and the latter spend their time arguing in the Sanctuary over their usefulness to DIO, and finally Hol Horse drags Boingo against his will. Despite all this infighting and problems, however, they're still united underneath DIO.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Some of the minions face their ends because they weren't useful enough for DIO. Of note, Enya Geil and Joey Operetta suffer this fate.

Characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

    Gray Fly

Gray Fly

An assassin of DIO who boards the plane the Stardust Crusaders are in to kill everyone there. His Stand is called Tower of Gray.

    "Captain Tennile"

"Captain Tennile"

An assassin of DIO who kills and replaces the real Captain Tennile. His Stand is Dark Blue Moon.

  • Adaptational Intelligence: In Chaos Mode, he can potentially avoid falling for Jotaro's bluff by simply not touching his nose. This doesn't stop Jotaro from getting Joseph to use Hermit Purple to read his mind.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In Chaos Mode, there is a chance that instead of angrily taking away Jotaro's cigarettes when he smokes, he'll offer a ash tray for him to put away the cigarette ashes on.
  • Didn't See That Coming: His focus on Jotaro only can lead to him being ambushed the 7th Stand User. Unfortunately, this also leads to them also falling into the water with Jotaro, since attacking him also results in their stand being covered with barnacles.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He has a major Home Field Advantage due to him being able to take the battle to the sea with his Super Not-Drowning Skills. Should the 7th Stand User have Pixies as their Stand, not only can they breathe underwater alongside Jotaro, they can use his advantage as an weakness by forcing him to inhale.
  • Time-Limit Boss: Twofold- The 7th Stand User has 3 turns to successfully ambush the impostor Tennile, and the proper fight against him has 10 turns to defeat him unless the player has Deep Purple, Pixies and Caravan to get some oxygen tanks for them and Jotaro.

    Forever

Forever

A sapient orangutan. His Stand is Strength, which allows him to turn any boat into a freighter.

  • Berserk Button: His intelligence being insulted. In fact, he has a good chance of going berserk!
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Inverted- he has a sexual drive towards women, especially when he goes after Anne, and in Chaos Mode, can even go after the female protagonist if they're guarding Anne or bathing together with her.
  • Intangibility: He can use his Stand to meld into and through the ship. In gameplay, this translates to him getting into ??? distance, which heavily raises his defense.
  • Ironic Hell: He has a sexual drive towards women. In the Sanctuary, while his spirit has reactions towards other dead women near him (Kate, Amber, Midler, Mariah), if there's two or more of them at the same time, he'll beg to go home.
  • Load-Bearing Boss: Due to Strength heavily empowering his boat, upon his death, the ship proceeds to collapse upon itself, reverting back into a dinghy.
  • The Peeping Tom: Spies on Anne taking a shower, and in Chaos Mode, potentially on the female protagonist as well. While Anne at least had a Modesty Towel, the female protagonist doesn't have any luck, resulting in a interesting reaction when Jotaro arrives after the second turn. (Or the female protagonist who is a Jotaro fangirl attempting a Shotgun Wedding on him because he saw her naked.) No words on if he also spies on Kate Honeybee or Rainbow, however.
  • Ship Level: The Joestars have to hunt for Forever on his ship, which is also his Stand.
  • Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration: The main level in which Forever is fought on is his own Stand. Because of this, the enemy encounter rate is much higher compared to the others.

    Devo the Cursed

Devo the Cursed

An sadomasochist shaman under the hire of DIO. His Stand is Ebony Devil.

  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Aside from Devo getting turned into swiss cheese by Polnareff, there exists another way for him to die in Chaos Mode: death by hypothermia in the freezer thanks to both the 7th Stand User and Polnareff from noticing a spot check.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In Chaos Mode, he didn't think of the circumstances of Polnareff arriving to his room much earlier or much later. Should the latter happen, he dies of hypothermia from staying in the freezer for too long.
  • Rush Boss: The main gimmick of his fight is that for every hit Ebony Devil takes, he gets stronger, thus encouraging the party to end the fight as quickly as possible.
  • The Unfought: There's an chance that he'll die in the freezer if both the 7th Stand User and Polnareff fail to notice him.

    Rubber Soul

Rubber Soul

An narcissistic mercenary of DIO who impersonates one of the Stardust Crusaders. His Stand is Yellow Temperance.

  • Accidental Truth: Much like the original source material, he manages to almost identically copy Kakyoin's cherry licking, but in Chaos Mode, there's a chance he may replicate some of the protagonist's traits as well, which may include cherry-licking.
  • Achilles' Heel: He has a slight vulnerability to instant-death attacks, which while not exactly useful in his boss fight at Singapore due to a lack of items or skills that inflict instant death, is immensely useful during the Boss Rush in Cairo, since unlike in Singapore, he never transforms into other party members.
  • Adaptational Badass: Minor case, but he was never shown to disguise as other characters outside of a fat lady and Kakyoin, and even his playable appearance in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future has him be an Moveset Clone of Kakyoin. Here, he's shown to impersonate the current Stardust Crusaders as well, and even copies their abilities (except for the protagonist's, for some reason).
  • Disguised in Drag: As in the original manga, should the events play out without the 7th Stand User intervening, he'll disguise himself as an overweight woman. In Chaos Mode, he'll even impersonate them as well regardless of what gender they are.
  • The Fighting Narcissist: As usual, he prefers to show off his looks even in battle.
  • Stone Wall: His actual offense stats when untransformed aren't pretty high, much like his original. However, his main threat comes from his massive defense, since he can heavily reduce the power of attacks to almost zero, and only skills that pierce defense have a chance of hurting him.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Have you been grinding in between areas? Have you also been utilizing tactics for various situations, such as Stand Your Ground? If not, you're unlikely to stand a chance against him, as his massive defense is a major brick wall for players unaccustomed to the battle system.

    Hol Horse

    J. Geil

J. Geil

The son of Enya who doubles as an sociopathic mercenary who raped Polanreff's sister Sherry and killed her. His Stand is Hanged Man.

  • Ax-Crazy: As usual per the source material, he's absolutely deranged.
  • Didn't Think This Through: He surrounds Polnareff and Kakyoin with a group of beggars. However, he can potentially fail to account for Kakyoin using Hierophant Green (which is a Long-Range Stand), resulting in Kakyoin's Stand attacking him while surrounded by beggars.
  • Dirty Coward: Uses his Stand attack people from distances, yet will try to run away if found. In addition, his boss fight in the Boss Rush has him hiding in one of five barrels.
  • Human Shield: Will use his Hanged Man to manifest it in human eyes, forcing the heroes to either get slashed or gouge out the victim's eyes. His boss battle in the storyline has him surrounded by beggars, and if they're killed, it's an Non-Standard Game Over.
  • Puzzle Boss: His boss fight in the Boss Rush has him hide in one of five barrels. While it can be easily be cheesed by using AOE attacks (and entirely encouraged), do keep in mind that Hanged Man has a chance of going for the jugular, not to mention the barrels (even the empty ones, surprisingly enough) can retaliate against the party.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: While he may have been an serial rapist and killer, the fact that it was a Vigilante Execution causes the police to chase after the protagonist for Polnareff's execution of him in Varanasi.
  • Would Hit a Girl: And rape one, too. Additionally, if a female protagonist choses to follow Polnareff in place of Avdol, he'll stab her to allow Emperor's bullet to nearly graze her forehead, much to Hol Horse's horror.

    Nena

Nena

A woman who disguises herself as a beauty to assassinate Joseph. Her Stand is Empress.

  • Duel Boss: Her boss fight in the storyline has her fighting against Joseph alone unless you had Rainbow temporarily join the Joestars in Chaos Mode.
  • Hell Is That Noise: "Chumimin!" Noteworthy that this is the only unique sound effect played in the game that has RPG Maker 2000, making it more unsettling.
  • Time-Limit Boss: In her boss fight, unless she's fought at the hotel, Joseph has 10 turns to defeat her before the police catch up to them.

    ZZ

ZZ

An assassin of DIO who ambushes the Joestars while they are driving. His Stand is Wheel of Fortune.

  • Butt-Monkey: Even moreso than the source material- In Chaos Mode, it's possible for Kakyoin to suddenly use the Emerald Splash on him when the Joestars are trying to figure out who is the user of Wheel of Fortune, and during the part where ZZ is chasing them, Kakyoin can spam Emerald Splash to slash the tires, resulting in him having less HP in his boss fight.
  • Gasoline Dousing: Wheel of Fortune can fire bullets of gasoline, resulting in anyone who is hit by it being set on fire.
  • Undignified Death: Essentially tied up and gagged and left behind with a sign which reads: "I am training, please do not disturb me." Everyone who saw him was fooled by the sign and he eventually died of starvation.

    Enya the Hag

Enya Geil

The mother of J. Geil. Her Stand is Justice.

  • Adaptation Expansion: Chaos Mode allows the protagonist to explore the rest of her hotel, which reveals that it has a hot spring, ping pong table and banquet hall, where they can meet several characters early on before encountering them later in the game.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Eaten alive by the inside out by DIO's Flesh Buds.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Can potentially train Joey Operetta, and judging by his reaction, it probably was not pleasant.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Her Stand allows her to control everyone with any open wounds. A 7th Stand User with Pixies uses this against her by having them use their Stand to enter the corpses' bodies, turning them against her.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Believes that DIO wouldn't kill her due to being Co-Dragons with Vanilla Ice. Even in death, she still whacks Steely Dan with her cane believing that he lied about DIO betraying her as an validation for killing her.
  • I Never Told You My Name: Jotaro signs her guest book under fake names to expose Enya as an agent of DIO, with the protagonist's fake name being Hirohiko Araki, Mohammed Abdul, Ikuro Hashizawa, Irene Rapona, B.T. or Doraecat.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: If you haven't gotten the fact that you need to aim for the Stand user first from the boss fights against Freu and Utah, then she will, as Justice is completely indestructible, not to mention she is at (L) range, meaning that you will need to rely on any attacks that can damage from a huge distance.

    Steely Dan

Steely Dan

An assassin hired by DIO to kill Enya in case she ever leaked the secrets about his Stand, and also sells overpriced kebabs. His Stand is Lovers.

  • Adaptational Wimp: His Stand, while the weakest of DIO's minions, could at least put up a good fight, and would have instantly defeated the Joestar group had it not for his sheer stupidity. In Chaos Mode, it doesn't even get the benefit of that: Jotaro could potentially kill him in one hit, thus preventing Lovers' pain receptor ability from triggering in time, allowing the group to extract Joseph's flesh bud without hassle.
  • Asshole Victim: He really had it coming, especially unlike the source material, in which it was only implied he died after Jotaro beat the crap out of him, the game explicitly confirms he died via his ghost in the Sanctuary, and even then, his spirit is haunted by Enya, who still believes that DIO would never have betrayed him.
  • Attempted Rape: Implied. His dialogue to a female protagonist with a Bunny Suit has him threatening to "have his way with", to get under Jotaro's skin. This only serves to further increase Jotaro's anger once Joseph's flesh bud is removed.
  • Irony: Provokes people to attack him so that his stand, Lovers can get his pain signaled to his victim. His boss fight shows that he is weak to Berserk.
  • I Shall Taunt You: His boss fight in Chaos Mode has him taunting Jotaro to provoke him into attacking him. Which is bad, since if he isn't killed with one hit, it's an instant game over. Fortunately, since Chaos Mode is an NG+ exclusive, Jotaro is likely to have Star Platinum: The World, which allows him to stop time, making it easier to get enough strength to instant kill him.
  • Timed Mission: Fail to get to Joseph's brain in time, and Joseph suffers from the flesh bud's effects.
  • Womb Level: The boss fight against his Stand, Lovers takes place inside Joseph's brain.

    Arabia Fats

Arabia Fats

One of DIO's assassins who attacks the Joestars in the desert. His Stand is The Sun.

  • Adaptational Wimp: His Stand was immensely powerful, and he was only done in by the heroes figuring out where he hid behind. Here, it's possible for Kakyoin to defeat the Sun, bypassing the need to figure out where he is.
  • Nothing but Skin and Bones: His spirit in Sanctuary reveals that since he was left for dead in the desert without any food, water and any form of transport, this was what he was reduced to when he died.
  • The Power of the Sun: His Stand creates a second sun, and in gameplay, can inflict the Mummy status, which reduces healing gained, turning the battle in a time-limit to prevent The Sun from turning Kakyoin (and the protagonist if they have a long-range Stand) into roast BBQ.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The only thing we know about him is his name, his Stand, and how he died. That's basically it.

    The Tyde (SPOILERS)

Gai Nijimura

If you used Cardigans to heal Mannish Boy, Carpenters or Crazy Diamond to fix the broken plane, this character takes the place of the Death 13 battle. His Stand is called The Tyde. He is the unnamed father of Okuyasu and Keicho who became deformed mentally and physically by DIO's Flesh Bud after his death. If you didn't heal Mannish Boy or fix the broken plane, then his original job was to stay in Japan and crash the plane the Joestars were on in the case they would abandon the quest to kill DIO.

  • Ascended Extra: He is the father of the Nijimura Brothers, before DIO's Flesh Bud had deformed him due to DIO's death.
  • Blow You Away: The Tyde's power deals with air currents and drawing them forth.
  • Catch and Return: The Tyde can do this with Kakyoin's Emerald Splash by making the air currents throw it back.
  • Route Boss: Only fought if Mannish Boy wasn't healed or the broken plane isn't fixed.
  • Shout-Out: The Tyde.

    Mannish Boy

Mannish Boy

An infant who attacks the Joestar group through his Stand, Death 13 by invading their dreams.

  • Death by Adaptation: If the protagonist has high enough Bad Karma, they can potentially "take care" of him by having a scorpion stab him with fatal poison.
  • Didn't See That Coming: If the protagonist has enough Friendship Points with Kakyoin, they can potentially believe Kakyoin that Mannish Boy is a Stand User, citing Forever as one example of an unusual Stand User, which results in Mannish Boy being held with suspicion, and if the protagonist has a lot of FP with Kakyoin, he'll even teach them how to awaken their stand in the dream world, allowing them to assist Kakyoin with Death 13.
  • Dual Boss: If the protagonist has a lot of FP with Kakyoin in order to assist them, he'll summon the Fake Star Platinum to even out the odds.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In Hol Horse's special ending, if he wasn't killed by the protagonist, he's one of the members who saves Polnareff from being attacked by Diavolo.
  • Karmic Death: If the protagonist opts to "take care" of him in Chaos Mode with high enough Bad Karma, he gets stabbed by a Scorpion, not unlike how he stabbed a Scorpion with his diaper pin.
  • Route Boss: A twofer- He's only fought in the Manga route, and only if the plane wasn't repaired or Cardigans wasn't used to heal him.

    The Scribe Ani

The Scribe Ani

A scribe you can meet within Cairo after finding out DIO's mansion location, he can be encountered right below the hospital. His stand is Ptah.

  • Ascended Extra: He only appears in the light novel The Genesis of Universe. And though his role here is minor, he is still available for one useful function. That being...
  • Boss Rush: He summons all the Tarot themed stand users against you (save the main characters and DIO) in this fashion and in the order you faced them in.
  • Reality-Writing Book: Type 3. Ptah can cause historical events written within it to manifest in reality when Ani reads it to occur, but only one such manifestation can be present at a time.
  • Skippable Boss: You technically don't have to fight him, and even then you don't fight him proper, just the Stands he manifests.
  • Stalker without a Crush: He states he's been following the Joestar group's journey, which is most likely how he wrote of the various Stands they faced.

    Absalom and Michal

Absalom and Michal

An brother-sister assassin duo that work for DIO to attack the crusaders. Absalom's stand, Satanic Coupler, is an hellish and durable train, while Michal's stand, Dark Mirage, can create mirages and make them real. Only appears in Chaos Mode.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: They appear earlier after both the 7th Stand User and Jotaro defeat Rubber Soul, where in The Genesis Of Universe, they appear after the Crusaders' confrontation with N'Doul.
  • Cool Train: Satanic Coupler.
  • "Get Back Here!" Boss: Satanic Coupler will retreat from battle every two turns. Fortunately, all damage taken by it will transfer to the next battle.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Satanic Coupler is fittingly fast, capable of enduring massive damage and charging an fully-leveled party and knocking them back in the first turn unless Pesci hooks Satanic Coupler.
  • Skippable Boss: Fighting them is completely optional and only possible in Chaos Mode, but defeating them will award an Badge of Honor.
