Wicks checked: 58/83

  1. Main.Artificial Human: Breed have the GRUNT project (Genetically Revived Universal Tactical Sentient), meant to create Super Soldiers as an elite Space Marine force to repel an invasion from the titular Breed aliens. You're one of their members and also one of their best.
  2. Main.Action Mom: In 1000 Ways to Die, a pervert flashes a group of young moms. Unfortunately for him, the ladies were members of a fighting club named "M.I.L.F" (aka "Mothers I Want to Fight") and, without hesitation, they squirt him with their babies' milk bottles, full of breast milk. The perv grabs one and drinks the contents... too bad that the lady had eaten peanuts (so the milk had some traces of peanut in it) and the pervert had a peanut allergy, which ends up killing him.
  3. ARG.I Love Bees: System Peril Distributive Reflex, or SPDR, which is pronounced "spider."
  4. AdaptationalSympathy.Western Animation: F.O.W.L. is a typical villainous organization bent on committing acts of world larceny (hence their name being the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny) so they can enrich themselves further. When the group was added into the world of the DuckTales reboot, they still seek to enrich themselves, but their goal is to stabilize the world and rid it of constant chaos—or at least their founder, Bradford Buzzard does, as the rest of the group only seeks to act like typical supervillains and conquer everything in the most grandiose way possible. This is further hammered in the Grand Finale, where Buzzard reveals he wants to rid the world of adventure because his grandmother, Isabella Finch, took him on several daring (and highly dangerous) adventures that almost got him killed several times over, leaving him traumatized at the "chaos" he perceived, feeling the only way to rein it in is to get rid of it. This is in stark contrast to the nameless board of directors from Darkwing, who had no motivation beyond enriching themselves further.
  5. Characters.Phineas And Ferb Heinz Doofenshmirtz: Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Was once thwarted by a potted plant he was using as a Companion Cube when Perry didn't show up. The O.W.C.A. made the plant an agent in honor of this feat.
6-7. Characters.RWBY The Heroes:
  • In General: The team name RWBY is made up of the member's first names and can be pronounced as "Ruby".
  • Penny Polendina: In Volume 3 Episode 5, we can see a blueprint for Penny, revealing her name is spelled out as P.E.N.N.Y. No word on what each letter means.
8-13. WesternAnimation.Codename Kids Next Door:
14. Recap.Phineas And Ferb Interview With A Platypus: The BO-AT and the MOAT, which stand for Buoyancy Operated Aquatic Transport and Metropolitan Oval Aquatic Trench, respectively.

15. Wrestling.WWE: Let's see: Irwin R. Shyster, the wrestling taxman...Henry O. Godwin and Phineas I. Godwin, wrestling swine-farmers, Montel Vontavious Porter, the Captain Ersatz for Terrell Owens, Rosey the Super Hero In Training...

16. Wrestling.ECW: Little Spike Dudley. His finisher? The Acid Drop.

17-21. AgentsOfSHIELD.Tropes F To H:

  • Lampshaded by Ward during his interview.
Maria Hill: What does S.H.I.E.L.D. stand for, Agent Ward?
Agent Ward: Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
Maria Hill: And what does that mean to you?
Agent Ward: It means somebody really wanted our initials to spell "shield".
  • A meta example would be the official name for "the Bus" — the Mobile Command Unit, or MCU.
  • Two episodes, "T.R.A.C.K.S." and "T.A.H.I.T.I.", are stylized as acronyms which are never explained. T.A.H.I.T.I. appears In-Universe, so it may get some explanation down the road — a Freeze-Frame Bonus reveals as partially Terrestrialized Alien Host Integrative Tissue I..
  • Fitz-Simmons developed the D.W.A.R.V.E.S. robots (which are 8, given one is Snow White) and the I.C.E.R. knockout bullets.
  • In season 4, Simmons is the new Director's S.A.D.I.S.T., and is continually subjected to W.I.M.P.

22-24. WesternAnimation.MODOK 2021: Along with MODOK and AIM, MODOK's kids both made acronyms for their first names.

  • Melissa says she was named "Mental Entity Living to Induce Seriously Sinister Anarchy." M.O.D.O.K. says she was named after Melissa Etheridge.
  • Louis says his name stands for "Lanky Organism Undeniably Irresistible and Syphilitic." He does not know what that last word means and does not want anyone to tell him.

25. Main.Calvinball: From the Fun with Acronyms Department comes TEGWAR, or The Exciting Game Without Any Rules. First seen in the movie Bang the Drum Slowly, it is a card game invented by professional baseball players for the sole purpose of winning money from gullible fans (who, for the most part, are just happy to play a card game with professional baseball players).

26. Series.ALF (Alien Life (or Laugh) Form)

27. Series.Ant Farm: Right there in the title.

28. SonicTheHedgehog.Tropes Numbers To B: Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: In the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode, "The Robot's Robot", after Robot runs away from Robotnik's fortress, Scratch and Grounder post an article in the newspaper, claiming he left carrying a toothbrush, two pairs of extra underwear, and a highly unstable BLAMMO note  device that could easily implode the entire planet.

29. SonicTheHedgehog.Tropes M To R: Medium Awareness: In the games, Sonic is this. In the side-scroller games, he will get very impatient and give the player an annoyed look if the player does nothing. In the 360/PS3 versions of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, he will watch his score for the stage get tallied up. In the Wii version of Sonic Colors, he will call the Rotatatron the BBBEnote  and will destroy the scores in an attempt to obtain extra lives.

30. SpongeBobSquarePants.Tropes D To I: Every Villain Is Lemons. "Otherwise known as EVIL."

31. Recap.Sponge Bob Square Pants S 2 E 10 No Free Rides Im Your Biggest Fanatic: When Mrs. Puff turns on the radio, the call sign for the station is KRUD.

32. Recap.Sponge Bob Square Pants S 3 E 10 Wet Painters Krusty Krab Training Video: People Order Our Patties.

33. Main.Faux Computer Code: <caption>In this case, "HTML" stands for "Head To My Legs".</caption>

34-35. Main.GIRL: Acronym for "Guy In Real Life."

  • Any player of any online RPG may cite that their acronym aptly describes their population: Mostly Men Online Role Playing Girls.

36-37. Main.Inconsistent Dub:

  • The Brazilian dub of Power Rangers S.P.D. at first Woolsey'd the titular Space Patrol Delta into "Super Patrol Delta" in order to keep the acronym, but later episodes (presumably translated by different people) would just have it translated literally to "Patrulha Espacial Delta".
  • The Italian dub of Darkwing Duck has a bunch of inconsistencies. F.O.W.L. is usually translated as O.C.A. (which translates to "Goose" and is an acronym for "Organizzazione Criminale per l'Arricchimento", "Criminal Organization for Enrichment"), but in some episode the original name is kept (with the acronym adapted as "Federazione Ovoidale Wargames e Ladrocini", which translates to "Egg-shaped Federation for Games of war and Robbery").

38. Main.Oddly Named Sequel 2 Electric Boogaloo: VRAINS, the title of the sixth series, stands for Virtual Reality Artificial Intelligence Network System. All the duels take place in there.

39-40. Main.Space X:

  • Harry Potter has many examples of "Wizard X" and "Wizarding X": wizard chess, wizard crackers (as in Christmas crackers), Ordinary Wizarding Levels, etc. The collective term for magical society is the "Wizarding World". Fred and George Weasley's shop, "Weasleys' Wizard Wheeze," doubles as a pun, as "wizard" is used as an adjective in the UK meaning "cool".
  • When things are made to function in space, they have good reason to have this kind of naming.
    • Spacesuitnote

41-50. RWBY.Tropes E To G: The show enjoys playing with acronyms; Professor Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon Academy, is based on The Wizard of Oz, whose full name forms the acronym O.Z.P.I.N.H.E.A.D. The elite Huntsmen Academies sorts their students into four-person teams with a name that is an acronym formed from the members' names and it must have an association with colour in some fashion. The headmasters of each Academy are responsible for creating and assigning the team names, a system that was originally created by the founder of the schools, the King of Vale. The King of Vale was a previous incarnation of Professor Ozpin.

  • Beacon Academy teams:
    • RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") gives the team a red-themed name and stands for Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang. It also represents each of their individual colours (Red, White, Black, and Yellow respectively). At the beginning of Volume 3, Ruby does lampshade that this causes confusion between her name and the team name.
    • JNPR (pronounced "Juniper") stands for Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren. Juniper is a shade of green.
    • CRDL (pronounced "Cardinal") stands for Cardin, Russel, Dove, Lark. The team name covers both the team's bird and Christian themes, both of which are associated with the colour red.
    • CFVY (pronounced "Coffee") stands for Coco, Fox, Velvet, Yatsuhashi. The team colour theme is brown. However, each of the members have a food-themed name, which the team name also shares.
    • STRQ (pronounced "Stark") is a now-graduated team consisting of the parents and uncle of Ruby and Yang. They are Summer, Taiyang, Raven, and Qrow.
  • Haven Academy teams:
    • SSSN (pronounced Sun) has a yellow-themed name based on its leader, Sun Wukong. The rest of his team-mates are Scarlet, Sage and Neptune.
    • ABRN (pronounced Auburn), which comes from the members' names: Arslan, Bolin, Reese and Nadir.
  • Atlas Academy teams:
    • FNKI (pronounced Funky), which is made up of a team of wildly coloured members: Flynt, Neon, Kobalt and Ivori. The reason for the name is that the characters are all based on colour-connected Internet memes.
  • Antagonists:
    • CRME (pronounced "Crime"; a Fan Nickname), consists of the primary antagonists of the first three volumes: Cinder, Roman, Mercury, and Emerald. Being an unofficial Fan Nickname, it isn't related to a color.

51. Fridge.Codename Kids Next Door: It's a little strange that the KND computer immediately came up with "Battle Ready Armor" as an acronym for "bra". And some people might find it silly how the "crazy conspiracy" was coincidentally right. But, if you watch Operation: M.A.U.R.I.C.E., you'd see that the Kids Next Door had encountered teenagers wearing the armor before. They just didn't know that the suits themselves were bras, until Numbuh 2 submitted the information to the computer and it added it all up. Also, Teen technology could be a combination of KND and Adult technology. After all, Teens are considered the midpoint between Adult and Kid. The Acronym was probably a left over of the KND portion.

52-53. Funny.Codename Kids Next Door:

  • B.R.A. = Battle Ready Armor
  • Operation V.I.R.U.S: The entire episode has the members of Sector V, sans Numbuh 5, convinced the teens are planning something sinister called "P.R.O.M.", Numbuh 1 thinking it stands for "Pubescent Retaliation on Munchkins". They all fail to realize however it's just a school dance, even when the evidence is right in their face, like the decorations being set up or Cree and Maurice arriving in a limo wearing fancy clothes. Can veer into tearjerker though when they decide to crash the dance right after Numbuh 5 managed to somewhat reconcile with Cree and seemed ready to let up on the KND.

54. Recap.Codename Kids Next Door S 2 E 3 A Operation SUPPORT: The Kids determine that the bras are weapons because the letters must stand for Battle Ready Armor. The end of the episode reveals that they're right.

55. Recap.Codename Kids Next Door S 6 E 13 Operation TREATY: Airborne Aircraft Carrier: The Kids Next Door have a craft called the G.I.H.O.O.J.A.C.A.R.R.I.E.R. (see here for Word of God) that serves as their flagship and the location of the treaty signing.

56. Characters.RWBY Team JNPR: The team's name can be pronounced as "Juniper", which is a shade of green. However, when Ruby travels with them during Volume 4, they argue over how to rename their team with Ruby's initials added into the mix. Ren and Nora have some difficulty agreeing on whether the acronym should begin with Ruby's name or Jaune's, but eventually settle on RNJR (pronounced "Ranger", also a type of green) after Jaune decides that JNRR (pronounced as "Junior") sounds dumb when spoken aloud. Nora retains her preference for JNRR.

57. RWBY.Tropes S To T: Sailor Earth: The Fun with Acronyms team naming the Extranormal Institute practices is used to create entire four-person teams of characters as well and they don't even have to spell out the team name in question (e.g. the title itself.)

58. Main.Alphabet News Network: FreedomToons: The MSNBS network, which hosts the incredibly biased show The Echo Chamber.
