  • An Arm and a Leg: When Thundercracker tries to smash Ridley and the Goddess of Explosions with his fists, but Ridley manages to get out of the way in time. And the explosive force from the Goddess of Explosions getting smashed causes both of Thundercracker's arms to get blown off.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Ant Queen apologizes to Beryl as they're fighting, feeling she has no other choice but to fight to make the game end quicker.
  • Ash Face: Thanks to Vinus making a magic shield to block the explosion caused from Isabelle throwing a bowling ball onto a Hellkite Wyvern's neck as it was about to unleash its flame breath, the most damage he and his remaining teammates get is some singes and ash and soot covering their faces.
  • Atop a Mountain of Corpses: The Fatalis spends the first night resting on a mound of Hellkite Wyverns.
    • The Goddess of Explosions spends the final night sitting on top of a mound of destroyed Undead Dragons, wanting a better challenge.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: To destroy an Undead Dragon, the easiest method the contestants has is to destroy its head.
    • Vinus invokes this by telling Shiro to aim for Ridley's mouth, knowing that's been a weak spot for him in several games.
  • Attack on the Heart: Ridley kills June Way by stabbing his tail through her heart.
  • Back for the Finale: Xena, Thundercracker, Vinus Hawkan, Quick Bourne, Toriel, Asgore Dreemurr, Lenia Storm, Kratos, Isabelle, King Dedede, Ant Queen, Giru, Fatalis and Verosika Mayday all return from previous Arenas, and side-stories in Sallie May's case. Those also returning but not participating as contestants are Ridley and Draka.
    • Back for the Dead: But for Giru, he wouldn't make it past the fight with Yiazmat. And Ridley and Draka get killed in their fights, the latter permanently.
    • In addition, Cayde-6 and Chara are brought back to life for this, only to die once again.
  • Back from the Dead: The goal of Asgore and Toriel is to bring back their dead children Asriel and Chara and possibly the ones Asgore had slain. Although Toriel does win, she gets talked out of reviving Chara, but gets to know that the Souls are happy and that her other child Asriel is still alive.
  • Battle Cry: As Zeraora charges at an Undead Dragon, she cries out "FOR MY GIRLFRIEND!" before killing it.

    • When Toriel tries to tell Baskerra to bring Chara back, she interrupts her with a big "NO! FUCK NO! YOU DON'T WANT THAT!".
  • Bizarre Dream Rationalization: Lenia tries to reason that her being in the Arena is just a dream, with Asgore and Toriel, who are just video game characters to her, proving it to her. After escaping Yiazmat, she realizes that this isn't a dream.
  • Book Ends: This episode ends the season the same way it began: with the theme revolving around the Chinese New Year, this time involving dragons. Both episodes also feature a different version of Beast Boy on A Fan's team and a member of the Roarx family on Nighthawk87's team.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Ridley's last words before the Fatalis kills him are him complaining "THIS IS BULLSHIT! I get brought back for the season finale just for THIS?!".
  • Bring It: As King Dedede tries to smash Giru with his hammer thinking that smashing everyone will let him escape, Ant Queen smacks him into a wall, telling him that she won't let him reach his goal. King Dedede assumes she's issuing him a challenge which he accepts.
King Dedede: Are you issun' me a challenge?! Cause I'll take it!
Ant Queen: Then, come at me and test your might.
    • Thinking that she can take on a Hellkite Wyvern, Veroskia stands her ground and tells it to come at her, only to get burned by its fire breath for her troubles.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: While the cast is able to defeat Yiazmat, 11 of them died in the fight and a 12th left the Arena, taking out a quarter of the contestants right out the gate.

  • Cannot Tell a Lie: Baskerra assures Toriel that she's telling the truth about Asriel still being alive by stating that she literally cannot tell a lie.
  • Clothing Damage: Much of Verosika's outfit is left smoldering when she tries to take on a Hellkite Wyvern, leaving her nearly nude.

    • Ridley sets up a trap where he claws several spots in an area, which makes them glow orange. Then he fires a fireball at it, which causes plumes of lava to shoot up, which engulfs Vinus, Quick, Shiro, and King Dedede.
    • This seems to happen when Toriel is pushed into the lava, only for her to then rise from it unharmed, her body having turned into something of an embodiment of fire.
  • Motivational Kiss: Just before Ridley emerges out of the rift, Toriel gives Xena a peck on the cheek for luck.
  • Mythology Gag: Geralt of Rivia's lines about hating portals references the portal puzzle he had to solve.
    • When Nemona mistakes Sallie May for a Pokemon, Sallie questions what that is. To which Fionna assumes that it's some kind of possum.
  • No Body Left Behind: Chara is vaporized by Count Logan covering him in dark energy and flinging his body at Yiazmat.
    • In chapter 3, Basara and Edward are obliterated by a fireball blasted by a Blue Eyes White Dragon and The Rider is atomized by a Red Eyes Black Dragon.

  • Precision F-Strike: As Toriel gives a Pre-Asskicking One-Liner about teaching Draka a lesson, she puts massive emphasis on what he'll be dealing with for knowingly getting others killed:
Toriel: I choose to believe there is good in everybody, but...for some people...they need to be taught a lesson. In your case, if this Arena ends up bringing you back...then I will give you a taste of what happens to those that keep knowingly hurting others. Do you know what that taste is?
Draka: Should I care if you're going to die anyway?
Toriel: ...it's called HELL. Let me give you a sample before you go back to wherever you came from and think about what you've done.
  • Reduced to Dust: Zaegrus' body turns to dust when the Fatalis clamps down on it.

  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: During the battle with Yiazmat, Y.V. teleports himself out of the Arena, with Verosika, Toriel, Asgore, and Lenia choosing to run away from it. Though Verosika uses some succubus magic to help the ones who are stuck fighting it as she leaves.

    • Lucoa is killed by Giga Mermaid accidentally smashing her tail into her.
    • Isabelle dies by getting stomped on by a foot from the Fatalis.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Draka finds himself disappointed that Toriel ended up being her last challenger, thinking that she's "a civilian that should have stayed in the kitchen."
  • Take My Hand!: After Asgore is struck by some necrotizing blasts, Toriel tells him to take her hand. Asgore refuses, knowing that it's over for him and uses his final words to tell her to win and show them what she's made of.
  • Taken for Granite: Yiazmat kills Count Logan, Giru, and Draco by using his Stony Breath on them, with the latter two being unfortunate enough to also be struck by his White Breath as well.
  • Take That!: Count Logan gets called a knockoff of Count Bleck with the nuance of his character having been destroyed.
  • Team Killer: Among those destroyed from Sallie May's trap includes Fionna, one of the members of her team.
  • Tempting Fate: As lava is pooling around the area that Quick's team is stuck on, he invokes this by asking how things could get any worse, telling his team that he said it ironically. And that's when several undead dragons rise from the lava ready to attack them, with Vinus chewing him out for choosing to tempt fate at all.
Vinus Hawkan: I don't think it matters if it's ironic or not! NEVER SAY THAT!
  • Theme Music Power-Up: When Toriel emerges out of the lava, her body is covered in her own powerful flames, and Karu's orchestral cover of her theme Heartache accompanies her as she makes Draka pay for everything he has done.

  • This Is Gonna Suck: After hearing something outside their crate roar, Fionna asks her teammates if they're all boned.
    • When Vinus recognizes that the dragon that his team is going to have to fight at the start of the Arena is Yiazmat, he winces and goes "Yep. We're in for a bad time.".
  • Token Evil Teammate: Count Logan for Team 5, Dark Matter for Team 7, Fatalis for Team 9, and Mangle for Team 10.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Lenia curls into a ball and rolls on the floor when she realizes that the Arena isn't a dream and that she might die in it.
  • Wham Line: At the end of the fourth chapter, the penultimate dragon the remaining contestants have to face appears, who turns out to be a face very familiar to this series.
A pair of claws expanded the thing, yellow gleaming eyes glowing from within. "Guess who's back?" A vicious tone spoke. This new threat may have not been the mastermind behind this draconic attack, but he was the greatest threat to come out. Not only that, but this was something that had not happened in a while.

Namely, an Arena event! What was it this time? The return of a most vengeful combatant. The Cunning God of Death. The space dragon that had remembered every little humiliation this Arena had given him.

This evil went by one name: Ridley.
    • For fans of the series since the first season, this line just before he reveals his name to Toriel and Xena, already reveals the one who was responsible for the Arena: A previous antagonist who hasn't been seen since the first season:
Draka: This brings back memories... That Fatalis returns...only to be met with a grisly end. DRAGON LIGHTNING FINISH!

  • Working with the Ex: Once again Asgore and Toriel are stuck on the same team together.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Count Logan kills Chara for what essentially amounts to happening to be in his path.

Your Winner: Toriel (A Fan's pick)
