When Judy is planning to throw a dinner mystery party, she's dishearten when she learns her former best friend, Stacey B., is throwing her own party on the same day. On the day of Judy's party, it gets ruined when someone steal their pizza and replaces it with a giant soiled underwear and it turns into a real mystery on who did it. Meanwhile, Alyson comes by to the Tobin's house to drop off props for Judy's party and Beef tells her he's planning on watching a movie with Wolf and Honeybee which Alyson misinterpret as Beef asking her out on a date and she joins them, much to Beef's dismay.

Tropes:

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: When Gill tries to take the fall, he oversells himself as a bad boy, clearly hoping it'll make Judy more interested in him.
  • Anchored Ship: At the end of their not-date, Beef and Alyson both admit they like each other but aren't emotionally in a place where they can be in a romantic relationship yet.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: When Alyson arrives at Wolf and Honeybee's cabin, she asks if anyone ordered a giant pair of jugs, only to reveal she brought a pair of chocolate milk jugs.
  • Break the Cutie: Judy is devastated to learn Stacey B. is throwing a party at the same time Judy is throwing her murder mystery party and then learns that Kima, her best friend, went to Stacey's previous party without telling her. During the party, she feels worse when Drama John and Bethany are planning to go to Stacey's party when Judy's party is over and even worse when Gill accidentally reveals he's the murderer in the mystery which ruins the whole party. Then it's revealed that Kima purposely sabotaged Judy's party, with the aid of Gill, to make it memorable for everyone because she saw how worried Judy looked after learning about Stacey's party.
  • Brick Joke: Judy mentions early in the episode about making period accurate hats for her party, and the end credits features those hats singing and dancing for some reason.
  • The Bus Came Back: This is Alanis Morrissette's first appearance in the second season.
  • Call-Back: Stacey B., who was first mentioned by Judy back in the previous episode as her former friend who ditched her once she became popular, is brought up again when Kima reveals Stacey is throwing her own party on the same day Judy has hers.
  • Couch Gag: The boat in the opening is "Whale, Excuuuuse Me!"
  • Dramatic Thunder: Subverted. The thunder is actually the text notification sound on Russell's phone.
  • Erotic Eating: Played with. Wolf tries to make the food at their date as unsexy as possible so Beef won't be uncomfortable when Alyson eats it. However, he accidentally left a whole zucchini, but Alyson eats it like an ear of corn. Then Alyson eats a slice of bologna in the middle and licks the hole.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Amelia almost figures out who sabotaged Judy's party, but when Gill ousts himself as the culprit and Kima asks why would he sabotage Judy's party if he has a crush on Judy, Amelia instantly figured out it was Kima who did it and Gill was her accomplice because Kima knew Gill would do anything for Judy and he would be the fall guy so Kima wouldn't be suspected.
  • Foreshadowing: There are a few hints that Kima is the one sabotaging Judy's murder mystery party:
    • Before Drama John and Bethany leave, Kima asks them to take some pizza. After they open the box to reveal there's a large pair of soiled underwear inside, Kima looks the least shocked compared to everyone and her eyes are shifting back and forth.
    • After the second pizza is sabotaged after the lights go out, Kima isn't seen when the lights came back on and only reappears at the beginning of Act Three when Amelia asks what's going on.
    • When Amelia is ready to solve the case, Kima immediately interrupts her to reveal she found a clue that points towards Gill and there's some subtle Bad "Bad Acting" when Kima starts questioning Gill.
  • Interrogation Montage: When Amelia agrees to interrogate the suspects, we get a montage of her asking everyone questions where some of them confess to things that aren't related to the mystery.
  • Not Helping Your Case: During the interrogation, when Amelia accuses Drama John of sabotaging the party because he loves creating drama, John is offended by this and demands that she shoves him against a wall.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is based on Sherlock Holmes.
  • Rewatch Bonus: After learning that Kima is the culprit behind sabotaging Judy's party, watching her behavior during the party again gave us subtle hints that she's responsible as explained in Foreshadowing.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Amelia is tired of her mother saying "Get in my belly!" whenever she eats. Judy even starts copying that phrase but replaces belly with other words.
    • During the interrogation, Henry confesses that he had downloaded Nights in Rodanthe when his parents went out one night and seen things he couldn't believe.
  • Sore Loser: Moon mentions that Debbie will be away at the Ice Skating Junior Nationals next week. She didn't qualify, but is going anyway, just to throw stuff at the people who did.
  • Spanner in the Works: Kima could have gotten away with sabotaging Judy's party with Gill taking the blame if it wasn't for Amelia's mother sending Amelia to deliver another pizza to replace the sabotaged one, which forced Kima and Gill to improvise and sabotage the second pizza to ensure the mystery kept going. Once Amelia delivers the second pizza and it gets sabotaged again, Judy asks her stay to help figure out the mystery and she is able to figure out it was Kima.
  • That Came Out Wrong: When Honeybee tells Beef he needs to think of something unsexy when talking to Alyson, Beef thinks he could ask Alyson if she would like to whittle some hardwood but Honeybee tells him no.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: After Gill reveals he keeps a pair of his grandma's underwear in his backpack because he loves her and he always wants to have her with him, no one bats an eye at what he said and Drama John even lampshades if anyone is going to react to that.
  • Varying Competency Alibi: Everyone in the room has to show they're wearing underwater to prove they didn't replace the pizza with their own. When Russell reveals he's not wearing underwear because he has a "clinically claustrophobia wiener", Henry speaks up and say that Russell is too much of a doof to steal the pizza.
  • Whodunnit: Judy's murder mystery party turns into a real mystery when someone replaces their pizza with soiled underwear.
