On the week of Thanksgiving, when the toilet in the guest cabin is broken, Wolf and Honeybee stay in the main house until it's fixed. As the days goes on, the Tobin children are getting on each other's nerves and Beef tries to fix this by making them do the "Beef Hunt", a scavenger hunt that tests their survival skills. While that's happening, Beef tries to fix the toilet in the guest cabin but can't do it due to his fear of toilets so he asks Junkyard Kyle to help him.

Tropes:

  • Absurd Phobia: Beef has a fear of toilets because once while trying to fix one he got sprayed with water and a piece of poop went into his mouth.
  • As You Know: Played with: Usually the Tobins have to explain to Honeybee about their bizarre family traditions, but here she is the first to explain the Beef Hunt, having heard of it from Wolf.
  • Call-Back: Ham being the Chore Chief of the house was mentioned back in "The Great Punkin' Adventure", and we learn Wolf was the previous Chore Chief.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Beef says having Wolf back in the house is like when they were kids if one of his sons was married. Ham lets out a surprised "Moon is married?!" before realizing he was talking about Wolf and Honeybee.
  • Coordinated Clothes: For the Beef Hunt, the Tobins all wear matching pink tracksuits that Beef had bought years ago on the home shopping network. Since it had been so long since the last one, Moon's is too small for him, and Honeybee's is too big, presumably because it was meant to fit Beef.
  • Couch Gag: The boat in the opening is "I, Rowboat".
  • Crazy-Prepared: Beef sends his kids and Honeybee on a Beef Hunt hoping they learn to be grateful for each other, but he wasn't completely certain they would learn that lesson so he fixed the toilet in the guest cabin in case they failed.
  • Eating Contest: The first challenge of the Beef Hunt is a cranberry sauce eating contest. When Judy asks at the end what it had to do with the hunt's overall theme of being together, Beef confesses that he just needed to get rid of surplus cranberry sauce that was going to expire soon.
  • Face Your Fears: Kyle makes Beef lie down on a file of toilets, then tells him to turn over so he's facing the toilet bowl, literally facing his fear of toilets.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The conflict all started because of Wolf and Honeybee's broken toilet in their cabin. With their toilet broken, they temporary stay in Ham's room while Ham stays in Moon's room. Ham is annoyed with Wolf ignoring his Chore Chief position and doing everyone's chores himself, Moon is annoyed that Ham is too busy to play with him and only focusing on making his Thanksgiving meal for Crispin and his family, and Judy is annoyed that she can't get any privacy because everyone is in the house and she's trying to memorize a poem for her class.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Judy has a system on how she can memorize her poem by imaging the words with boobs and a big, round butt to pay attention.
  • Innocent Swearing: Moon plans to say a swear word he just learned if he wins the Beef Hunt. When he does say it, it gets bleeped out, but from the other's reactions it's a particularly strong word. His lips couldn't be read neither, as in the first time he said it, his mouth was obstructed by a handrail, and the second time, the scene cuts to behind Moon as soon as he says the swear to show the reactions of the Tobins, Santiago, and Crispin and his family.
  • Magic Feather: Lampshaded by Beef when Kyle gives him her "magic wrench" that she claims no poop will touch him while he's using it. Beef asks if this is "like a Dumbo thing", where it's not really magic but he's supposed to believe in it, Kyle admits it is while also asking what Dumbo is.
  • The Maze: As part of the Beef Hunt, the Tobins have to go through a snow maze Beef created. When the others are having trouble figuring how to get out, Ham and Moon realizes the maze is based around the maze they created for their secret pet mouse and they both work together to help everyone get out by remembering the correct path.
  • Open Minded Parents: Crispin’s parents joining the Tobins for Thanksgiving indicates they’re very accepting of the romantic relationship between their son and Ham.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: Kyle gives Beef a "magic wrench" claiming it make sure no poop will touch him as long as he uses it. Beef, seeing through the ruse and asks if it's a Dumbo thing where it's not really magic but he's suppose to believe it is. Kyle admits it while also asking what Dumbo is.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is based on Good Will Hunting.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Beef designs a "Beef Hunt" for the rest of the family, but unlike past hunts where they competed against each other in a show of survival skills, they are instead asked to solve challenges based on each other's lives so they would learn to work together.
  • Scenery Censor: When Moon first said his particularly strong swear word, his mouth was hidden behind a handrail so his lips couldn't be read.
  • Schmuck Bait: After completing the treehouse portion of the hunt, Honeybee sees a sign that reads "Pull to win Beef hunt" on a rope. When Honeybee pulls it, a cage drops on them while another rope is pulled that rings a bell that alerts Beef that the others are at the final portion of the hunt.
  • Snarking Thanks: While preparing for Thanksgiving, Beef learns that everyone (minus Honeybee) is getting on each others nerves and he has everyone go around and say what they're thankful for. This only results in the Tobins kids saying they're thankful to each other in a sarcastic matter and Beef gives up and wants to resume finish preparing for Thanksgiving in silence.
  • Thanksgiving Episode: The episode first takes place three days before the holiday, but on the actual date, Beef starts the "Beef Hunt" to get the rest of the Tobins to get along after they started fighting beforehand.
