Judy and Ham's school field trip is at the abandoned Death Cliff Prison where Wolf will be chaperoning them. Before the field trip, Wolf is worried that by acting like an adult, his siblings won't see him as fun anymore so he takes his group to a restricted part of the prison. Beef accidentally agrees to compose a poem when he's trying to impress a woman.

Tropes:

  • Cell Phones Are Useless: When Wolf and the kids get locked in the Underwater Coffin and the tides comes in to fill up the cell, no one can get a signal on their phones to call Mr. Golovkin for help.
  • Chair Reveal: While exploring through the prison, Wolf and his gang sees someone sitting in barber chair with their back turned to them and they freak out, but it's revealed to be just Bethany.
Bethany: Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You guys know I love to swivel in a chair in complete darkness, it's one of my main personality trait.
  • Couch Gag: The boat in the opening is I Like Big Boats and I Cannot Lie
  • Drowning Pit: Wolf takes the kids to a special cell in the prison with a glass wall open to the water called the "Underwater Coffin". When the tide came in, the cell would flood and drown the convict. This almost happens to Wolf and the kids when the door they came in is locked thanks to Gill closing the door shut.
  • Floorboard Failure: Ham ends up falling through a prison floor, but he's okay and the hole didn't seem that deep since he's able to stand up and stick his head out. Wolf came close too but his foot only fell through.
  • Got Me Doing It: Honeybee finds herself using lame puns just as the Tobins do, saying to herself, "What has this family done to me?"
  • Locked in a Room: Just as Wolf and his group are about to leave the Underwater Coffin, they find the door is locked and they cannot get out, and the cell is starting to flood.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Beef meets Greta, a poetess, while out bird watching and is smitten with her. She overheard his beautiful description of a bird and assumed he's a poet as well, and Beef goes along with it, agreeing to read one of his poems at an event, despite being afraid of public speaking and having never written a whole poem. At the event, he finally just confesses to her, which ends up sounding like a poem. And after Beef comes clean, Greta is still interested in Beef and is happy to go on a date with him.
  • The Man in the Mirror Talks Back: Wolf keeps seeing an older version of himself in reflective surfaces telling him that if he starts acting like an adult, he'll grow old, his arms will fall off, and die.
  • Suddenly Shouting: After Wolf and the kids get locked in the "Underwater Coffin" cell and the tides starts coming in:
Wolf: Okay, nobody panic, I'm gonna get us out of here.
    Ham: Oh, great... HOW?!

♫ Cowpoke, they think I'm some kinda joke
These slick city boys with their whiskey and Coke
And I, I refuse to let this city brand me
Hey, there's Taffiny and my best friend Jim
His boyfriend's a dancer whose name is Tim
This small-town cowboy might make this city his own
This college cowboy might bring some knowledge home. ♫
Dakota: A Cowboy at College theme song

Beef's Poetry Failure

While trying to think of a poem to write for Greta, he imagines what would happen if he fails.

How well does it match the trope?
