During Ham's time of volunteering at the senior home, he meets Goldie, an old woman who wants him to throw a party for her in honor of her late husband but learns she's hiding something from him. Judy takes a pottery class and gives her family her creations, but her family doesn't have the courage to tell her they're terrible.

Tropes:

  • The Alleged House: Goldie's old home is condemned and quite clearly falling apart, but she denies this and convinces Ham to have the party there. It actually starts collapsing in the middle of the party, and the police chief says that the real owners are having it demolished anyway.
  • Crappy Homemade Gift: Judy's pottery is misshapen and impractical, but the rest of the family don't have the heart to tell her. She even starts making clay clothes that are too heavy to wear, and even then, they can't bear to tell her.
  • I Always Wanted to Say That: The police chief tells Goldie that she's "going away for a long time", only she's not really arresting her, she just always wanted to say that.
  • Left Hanging: Basically, because the rest of the family won't just tell Judy that her pottery is awful, they go down to the class to try to get the teacher to ban her. However, the teacher is so incredibly charming that they join in the class. The episode ends with not only Judy still in the class, but the rest of the Tobins barring Ham having signed up as well, gladly making just as awful pottery.
  • Odd Name Out: This is the first episode to not have "Adventure" at the end of its title. This was fixed on the Hulu release.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The fishing boat in the opening credits is His Shark Materials.
    • Ham and Crispin sitting together on top of the bus and sharing a (sausage and horseradish) cake at the end of the episode parodies the ending of Sixteen Candles.
    • Wolf puts on an Italian accent when trying to persuade the pottery teacher to kick Judy out, introducing himself with "It's-a me, Mario!"
  • Sound-Effect Bleep: Beef gets censored in the opening scene when the family is betting on the contents of the mystery jar.
Beef: Whoever's closest gets all the money in the Swear Jar. And that’s a *bleep*-ton of money, because we all love to swear.
  • Trivially Obvious: Moon's response when Judy asks the family what they think of her ceramic gifts.
"This was given to me by my sister."

Judy:
♫ Yo, DJ, let's slam it
These ceramics clothes are so slammin'
I love to wear 'em when I'm swammin'
Catchin' salmon or pajammin' ♫

Ham: ♫ Your private parts you'll be fannin' ♫
Judy:
♫ Perfect for travelin' to Japan in
In England, I'm minding the gap in
I'm makin' peanut butter and jammin' ♫

Moon: ♫ Yo, DJ, keep it slammin' ♫
Judy:
♫ At the beach, when you're tannin'
These fly fits are straight slammin'
When you're takin' your literature examine
Your teacher will start exclammin' ♫

Judy & Mr. Golovkin: ♫ Class dismissed forever! ♫
