Ezran, Zym, Soren, and Corvus, having failed to learn the location of Aaravos' prison from Rex Igneous, have stayed in Xadia with Zubeia to learn what they can from Domina Profundis, archdragon of the Ocean. Meanwhile, Callum and Rayla have returned to Katolis Castle to learn more about Aaravos and about the curse that Viren cast on Rayla's parents and Runaan. Karim, after his failure to dethrone his sister Janai, is exiled from Janai's camp on pain of death. Viren has cast a dark spell for the first time since his resurrection and therefore fallen into a coma of the same sort that Callum had. Weighed down by Viren's unconscious body, Claudia and Terry slowly make their way towards the only mage who can save Viren...
