Ezran and Zubeia seek an audience with the Archdragon of the Ocean for knowledge of Aaravos' prison, while Callum and Rayla both delve into hidden secrets back in Katolis.

Claudia and Terry watch over a still comatose Viren, with Claudia becoming increasingly agitated by the situation.

Tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Among the shelves of dark magic ingredients she finds in Viren's secret chamber, Rayla notes a jar of eyeballs, a jar of toenails, and a jar of peanut butter.
Rayla: I guess dark mages get snacky too?
  • Blow That Horn: Ezran's party uses a great horn to signal Domina, triggered by placing a special gem known as a Siren Stone atop a shell-shaped platform close to the sea.
  • Book Ends: Two scenes of Team Ezran seeking the help of Domina Profundis bookend the episode.
  • Call-Back: Viren falls into a coma just like Callum did after he first used dark magic. Claudia explains that this is what happens to all dark magic users, but only the first time, attributing Viren's condition to a side effect of resurrecting him.
  • The Exile: Prince Karim gets banished from the Sunfire Elves' Kingdom for trying to overthrow his sister. As an added kick in the teeth, he's forced to turn over all his possessions, including a tin ring from his mother that has no material value.
  • Expecting Someone Taller: Domina Profundis is surprised to see a child summoning her. Zubeia assures her that Ezran is a true king.
  • Heroic Vow: Rayla gives a sacred promise to her parents to rescue them from their coin prison.
  • It Was a Gift: Before being expelled, Karim is forced to hand over the ring that his mother gave him when he was a child. He heavy-heartedly complies.
  • Mood Whiplash: Claudia and Terry's moment of serenity is interrupted by "Sir Sparklepuff" Suddenly Shouting "Blood of Child!", freaking them out.
  • Percussive Pickpocket: Rayla collides with Callum's shoulder to allow Stella to nab the key to his office so she can get access to Viren's hidden dungeon.
    Rayla: Bumpsie-Daisy!
  • Pillar of Light: Ezran's team uses the Siren Stone to create a beacon of light that reaches into the sky in order to summon Domina Profundis.
  • Play-Along Prisoner: After Callum demands Rayla released, Rayla hands her cuffs from which she uncuffed herself in the meantime to the stunned guard.
  • The Power of Trust: Having read up on the subject while researching ocean magic, Callum decides to put his faith in Rayla having good reasons for not telling him about needing to go into Viren's dungeon, and that she'll tell him what they are when she's ready.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Terry finds Claudia a giant Adoraburr (an Adorapurr) to soothe her anxiety.
  • Scary Librarian: The librarian at the Katolis library chides Callum for shouting at the vanishing pages about Aaravos and then shushes him when he tries to explain himself. She later also shushes the Crow Master when he thinks aloud at the library.
  • Short-Distance Phone Call: The medieval version of it when the Crow Master sends a messenger crow to Callum at the library from around the corner to notify him about Rayla's capture.
  • Survival Mantra: Claudia tries to soothe herself by repeating the line "There is no synonym for cinnamon."
  • Unwanted Assistance: Terry tries suggesting "spice" as a synonym for cinnamon, but all it does is frustrate Claudia, both because that's actually a category, and because he's accidentally breaking her calming mantra. He later provides much more welcomed assistance with her anxiety.
  • Wham Shot: Rayla finds another enchanted coin like the ones holding her fellow elves, with the difference that this one holds a human.
