Callum, Ezran, and Rayla's journey to find the secret entrance to Rex Igneous hits a snag when Zym makes a surprise appearance, having followed them to the Drakewood. Not only that but Soren has become separated from the group, forcing them to contend with hostile Earthblood Elves in an attempt to find him.

Back with the Sunfire Elves, the Tribunal to decide the fate of the architect is underway.

Tropes:

  • Animal Eye Spy: Ezran uses his Psychic Link to Zym to scout out the forest.
  • Call-Back: Just like three seasons ago, Callum and Rayla get into a pointless argument while Zym is in danger, and Ezran shuts them up.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: We learn that Soren wears pink underwear under his armor.
  • Didn't Think This Through: After Zym appears, Callum suggests they use his and Ezran's bond to have him scout the forest from the air to try and find the path to Rex Igneous and the missing Soren. This backfires when the local Dragon Riders spot him and start to hunt him down for a new mount, with Callum lampshading what a bad idea it was.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Karim suggests a "Tribunal of the Six Horns" to use on Lucia for the Soul Candle incident. The punishment for extinguishing a simple candle if found guilty? Death! As Amaya learns, however, the candle and what it represents are anything but simple and have been a Sunfire tradition for ages.
  • The Heart: Ezran motivates the group to press on after Callum and Rayla got into an argument.
  • I Don't Like the Sound of That Place: The gang is thrilled to hear that the young Earthblood Elf knows a way into Rex's lair. Their excitement diminishes drastically after they learn that they have to pass through the "Pit of Despair".
  • It's All My Fault: When the gang finds parts of Soren's armor in the Pit of Despair, Rayla breaks down and declares it's all her fault because she left him alone.
  • Jerkass Realization: Amaya is at first just as blasé about the soul candle being extinguished as the architect Lucia was, but once Karim details the ceremony's significance during the trial, she becomes apologetic and admits that Lucia and herself were in the wrong.
  • Missed Him by That Much: The group goes through the Path of Despair in the Pit of Despair, reasoning that Soren may well have gone further on after being unable to climb out. Meanwhile, at night Soren finally arrives back at the campsite, well after they have left.
  • Nice Kitty...: Soren tries to soothe the drake in the Pit of Despair this way.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Soren not only survives being tossed in the Pit of Despair, but he befriends the drake down there and escapes on her back, returning to camp while the others were gone.
  • Please Kill Me if It Satisfies You: Played for Laughs. After the young Earthblood Elf learns that the dragon he attempted to claim as his own is actually the Dragon Prince, he starts to prostrate and offers to let Zym eat him if he wishes.
  • Take a Third Option: The punishment for extinguishing a soul candle is typically death. After an apology and a heartfelt plea from Amaya during the trial, Janai decides to instead punish the architect by making a temple so that people can light as many as they wish without fear.
  • Watch Out for That Tree!: The group knocks out Warlon by blinding him with Bait and letting him hit his head against a large branch.
  • Wham Line: "Don't you remember who you are? You're the High Mage of Katolis, the first human primal mage in centuries." This is the first time that the show implied that there had ever been human primal mages before Callum.
