Trivia tropes

  • Ascended Fanon: The sunfire elf that helps Marcos in the season 3 finale didn't have a name initially, but the fans adopted the name "Sabah" and it became extremely popular, finally becoming canon.
  • Author's Saving Throw: After the choppy animation of the first season was widely criticized, the show's creators promised in an interview that they would work to improve the low frame rate. When the second season was produced, the frame rate was noticeably smoother, and was received far better. The next few seasons continue this by boasting very high quality animation.
  • Children Voicing Children: 11-year-old Sasha Rojen voices Ezran.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Ezran (a boy) is voiced by Sasha Rojen (a girl). Oddly enough for this trope, Rojen's about the same age as her character (10).
  • Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Amaya is deaf and generally does not get a voice credit, but the one time she does speak, she is voiced by Sheila Ferguson, who is also deaf.
  • Fake Mixed Race: Half-brothers Callum and Ezran are both biracial, but their voice actors, Jack DeSena and Sasha Rojen are not.
  • God Never Said That: Enforced, the show's official Twitter reiterated that any news about the show will come from the official Twitter or Aaron Ehasz's. Other sources will not be trustworthy and are likely to be spreading rumors.
  • Invisible Advertising: Aaron Ehasz has taken to Twitter to point out Netflix has given the show very little advertising and that he has met several fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender who were completely unaware of the show’s existence.
  • Line to God: The official Twitter and Reddit pages for the show gladly speak to and answer questions from the fans.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The Crownguard who Rayla was unable to bring herself to kill was initially unnamed. At the show's panel at SDCC 2018, the creators let a fan name the character; he was named Marcos.
  • The Other Darrin: The Latin American Spanish dub has so far had a new Ezran every season (Maximiliano Duran in Book 1, Mateo Tonatihu in Book 2, and Mateo González in Book 3).
  • Production Posse:
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: The Earthblood elf, Terry, is a transgender man and his English voice actor, Benjamin Callins, is a bisexual transgender man.
  • Release Date Change: Season 5 was set to be released on July 27, 2023 but was ultimately released five days early following the San Diego Comic-Con panel.
  • Shipper on Set: Before becoming the Official Couple, the pairing of Rayla and Callum had the support of Soren's voice actor, Jesse Inocalla. After their Relationship Upgrade in Season 3, their own voice actors, Paula Burrows and Jack DeSena, have since expressed support for their characters relationship on social media many times.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Soren and Claudia were originally one character.
    • The ending of season 2 was originally quite different.
    • In 2019, the plans for the full saga had Books 4 and 5 as the second phase and Books 6 and 7 as the third phase. After actually entering production, however, Book 6 was slotted into the second phase, leaving the third phase consisting only of Book 7.
  • Word of Gay:
    • With some Shrug of God. According to Aaron Ehasz, Claudia is "probably bisexual" but her story is more about her relationship with her family rather than any romances she may have.
    • Meanwhile, Amaya might be lesbian but her orientation is currently a spoiler (although he does say for the record that his sister is a lesbian and supports the idea of a lesbian Amaya). Confirmed in the fourth season with her now in a relationship with Janai, which also confirms current head writer Devon Giehl's statement that the two ended up together after season 3.
    • As confirmed on the show's official Twitter account, Kazi is non-binary.
  • Word of God:
    • Though early materials usually described Ezran and Callum as stepbrothers, the creators clarified that they're actually half-brothers. Also, their mother, Sarai, was this setting's equivalent to East Asian, making them both bi-racial.
    • Elves have four toes, besides only having four fingers.
