"What is done can not be undone."

Runaan tells Rayla to stay behind because they can't trust her to kill when needed, and she is shunned by the other Moonshadow assassins. Rayla wishes to atone, and enters the castle on her own. Rayla discovers the Princes Callum and Ezran, but is shocked when the trio finds the egg of the dragon prince. Katolis prepares for the assassin's attack. Viren tries to convince King Harrow to save his life using dark magic. King Harrow refuses.

Tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: While arguing about the use of dark magic, Lord Viren tells King Harrow that his men would trade their lives for their king. Harrow asked Viren if he would, leaving Viren speechless. Followed by King Harrow to tell him to Get Out! (but in a Tranquil Fury).
  • Bait-and-Switch: Callum pulls out a random book labeled "Lost Secrets of Xadia". After flipping through it, the pages start turning on their own, which freaks out Callum. Then it's revealed that Claudia is just messing with him by blowing on the page with a spell.
  • Bookcase Passage: Ezran opens the entrance to a Secret Room in the castle by touching stones in a wall in a certain sequence.
  • Brick Joke: Callum saw Rayla "swept the leg".
  • Buffy Speak: Rayla asks one of her fellow assassins if she can borrow their "sharpener thingy" (whetstone).
  • Complete-the-Quote Title: It forms the first half of the sentence "What is done cannot be undone." In the context of the episode, it refers to King Harrow's belief that he must give his life to atone for the atrocities he committed.
  • Concealing Canvas: There is a Secret Passage from behind a painting in the castle.
  • Cycle of Revenge: It's a Central Theme of the series and Callum mentions it here for the first time when reminding Rayla of the futility of the moonshadow elves' revenge on the king.
  • Dramatic Curtain Toss: When Ezran reveals the Dragon Egg hidden under a curtain.
  • Face Palm: Ezran, when Rayla figured out the combination by his jelly handprints on the stones. He gets jelly on his face as a result.
  • Foreshadowing: Viren was angry when King Harrow insisted that he calls Viren's "creative solution" what it truly is, dark magic. Revealing his strong belief in using dark magic for any solution.
  • Go Through Me: Callum protects his brother this way when Rayla finds them in the Secret Room.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Callum would allow himself to be killed to save Ezran by pulling an I Am Spartacus on Rayla.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Harrow previously felt this way about his actions towards killing the Dragon King. These days, he isn't sure.
  • Inescapable Net: When confronted by Rayla, Callum throws a curtain over her which incapacitates her long enough for him to escape.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Ezran ensures his brother that Rayla won't be able to follow them into the Secret Room. Cue her activating the door mechanism. Apparently, she figured out the opening sequence by looking at the stones with jelly handprints.
  • Moral Myopia: Callum calls Rayla out on this, pointing out that making an unprovoked kill on an innocent prince is no different than what humans did to the Dragon Prince, which she rebuts by claiming that this attack isn't unprovoked...
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: ...followed immediately by Callum invoking and inverting this trope: "You hurt me, someone will get revenge against the elves! It won't end!"
  • The Reveal: The egg of the Dragon Prince wasn't destroyed. Ezran discovered this and showed it to Rayla.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: After Callum finds out Ezran left his room:
    Guard: Prince Callum.
Callum: Of course we're both here. Why wouldn't we be?
Guard: (Beat) Right. Well, the king wants to see you alone, Prince Callum.
Callum: Oh, perfect. But he could have seen both of us if he wanted to.
    [The guard rolls his eyes]
  • Wall Crawl: Rayla scales the cliff to the castle with her clawy weapons.
