Once Fred's leg heals up, SpongeBob is determined to keep it out of harm's way, only to decide to assist him in breaking his leg again once he finds out Fred's been intentionally breaking it because he's in love with a nurse.

My Leg! contains examples of:

  • Agony of the Feet:
    • Dr. Charley Horse walks over the hot coals and shrinks until he disappears.
    • A girl scout bites Patrick's foot when he grabs her box of cookies.
  • Artificial Limbs: The doctor warns Fred that is he suffers anymore injuries that they'll have to amputate his leg and replace it with a robot's. Fred initially is estatic, but soon changes his mind when the robot desperately begs for this not to happen.
  • Badass Adorable/Little Miss Badass: The girl scout who attacks Patrick when he grabs her box of cookies.
  • Banana Peel: One of the things SpongeBob protects Fred's legs from.
  • Brawn Hilda: Nurse Bazooka, who is a hulking, muscular woman with a voice deeper than most of the other male characters. Fred loves her all the same, though.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Alaskan Bull Worm makes a brief appearance.
  • The Cameo: Bubble Bass appears for a moment only to be bashed to the other side of the street by Patrick.
  • Continuity Nod: The first scene of the episode has SpongeBob and Mrs. Puff backing up into a lighthouse during SpongeBob's driving tests, showing Fred's leg being crushed by the lighthouse when it falls over. "Boating School" was the introduction of "My leg!"
    • Charlie appears in his magician/wizard costume, as seen in Pocus, cutting off Fred's leg as a magic trick.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The entire episode focuses on Fred, the guy behind the series' "My leg!" Running Gag.
  • Deliberate Monochrome: The silent movie gag, of course.
  • Eat the Camera: Fred does this when he yells "My leg!" while the doctor cuts off his cast with a spinning blade.
  • Excited Episode Title!: "My Leg!"
  • Iris Out: The episode ends with two in a row; the first one heart-shaped to red which chops Fred's leg off, which in turn the ambulance takes away before the traditional circular shape.
  • Marilyn Maneuver: One of the things during the opening montage happening to FRED'S LEG!!!!
  • Medium-Shift Gag: At one point in the opening montage, Fred is seen as a live-action fish about to have his tail cut off.
  • Metronomic Man Mashing: The girl scout does this to Patrick when he grabs her box of cookies.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Fred works at a sawmill, and actually pushes logs right into the saws with his legs.
    SpongeBob: This is his job?!
  • Ow, My Body Part!: My leg!
  • Pain to the Ass: Fred lands on his butt on the hot coals and screams "MY BUTT!"
  • Railroad Tracks of Doom: Fred tries to get his leg run over by a train.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The robot's eyes glow red with anger when SpongeBob says, "How are we going to hurt FRED'S LEG! now?"
  • Running Gag:
    • If you count both the title card and the silent movie gag, the word "leg" is said a total of 75 times in this episode.
    • The ambulance arriving every time a character screams "My leg!"
  • Sea Hurtchin: SpongeBob protects Fred's leg from several sea urchins, which end up on his tongue.
  • Shout-Out: The opening montage includes a parody of Goldfinger with poor Fred Strapped to an Operating Table about to have his leg cut off by a laser. The same scene features a Blofeld expy and his Right-Hand Snail.
  • Sudden Anatomy: SpongeBob sprouts an ear when Fred whispers his secret to him.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Fred's "My leg!" scream is taken up to eleven. Everyone screams whenever saying some variation of it ("MY LEG!", "HIS LEG!", etc.)
  • That Reminds Me of a Song: When Nurse Bazooka arrives, that's Fred's cue to sing "My Leg is in Love".
  • Title Drop: Lots of it in this episode.
  • Wingding Eyes:
    • SpongeBob has hearts in his eyes when Fred tells him he's in love with a nurse.
    • Fred has hearts in his eyes when Nurse Bazooka arrives.
  • Your Television Hates You: When Fred turns on the TV, he somehow sees one of his legs.
    Fred: MY LEG?!

Ink Lemonade

Original air date: 5/9/2018 (produced in 2017)

Patrick's lemonade stand is unsuccessful until he gets a secret ingredient from Squidward.

Ink Lemonade contains examples of:

  • An Aesop:
    • Don't torment others on purpose to get what you want.
    • Sometimes a special ingredient is not what you think.
  • Body Horror: In order to scare more ink out of Squidward, Patrick rips open his chest and belly to expose his internal organs. Then his intestines start talking.
Patrick's intestines: May I borrow a cup of squid squeezings?
  • Bottle Episode: The episode is set mainly outside and within Squidward's house.
  • Cephalopod Resources: The episode revolves around Patrick discovering that people like the taste of Squidward's ink, under the mistaken belief that they're drinking black lemonade. To get more ink to sell, Patrick spends much of the episode scaring Squidward, since that's what makes Squidward (and octopi in general) squirt ink. In the end, Patrick's customers stop drinking the ink when they find out it comes from Squidward's nose.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Squidward squirting ink out of his nose is quite similar to a nosebleed. After the first time, he even has tissues shoved up his nose.
  • Exorcist Head: When Squidward finds Patrick in a crib dressed as a baby, Patrick spins his head all the way around while saying "Dada".
  • Giant Spider: Patrick lets loose a giant spider in Squidward's house to scare ink out of him.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: Of Patrick's bandaged armpit.
  • Haunted House: Patrick builds one outside Squidward's house to scare ink out of him.
  • Here We Go Again!: The episode ends with SpongeBob and Patrick giving up selling black lemonade and sell cookies instead, which are made from the eggs of the giant spider.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Everyone enjoyed drinking "black lemonade" until finding out it was really Squidward's ink. Squidward enjoyed the cookies SpongeBob and Patrick made until finding out they were made with spider eggs.
  • Jerkass Ball: Patrick is oddly active in trying to scare Squidward compared to how he's usually Innocently Insensitive towards Squidward.
  • Karma Houdini: Patrick never gets punished for what he has done to poor Squidward.
  • Lemonade Stand Plot: In this episode, Patrick opens his own black lemonade stand. The black lemonade he sells is ink, which he gets from Squidward by scaring him.
  • Ominous Music Box Tune: One of the rooms in the haunted house is a nursery where Squidward is horrified to find has music that he calls "creepy nursery rhyme music".
  • Screen Tap: At the end of the episode, Squidward inks all over the screen.
  • Spiders Are Scary: Squidward is scared of spiders, especially the giant one Patrick scares him with and the hundreds of ones he screams out of his mouth.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Everyone who drank black lemonade vomit in Squidward's house once they find out where the black lemonade comes from.
