The newest video sets the gang against Mr. Honey.

Tropes

  • Ambiguous Situation: Apparently, multiple high schools that Mr. Honey was principal of in the past had their proms canceled due to petty reasons. We never find out what happened at those schools to cause the cancellations.
  • Contrived Coincidence: In-universe as Jughead wonders if a pack of scouts finding the "murdered" Mr. Honey's glasses is too contrived a twist.
  • Idiot Ball: Invoked in one of the fantasies when Honey claims to know exactly who his abductors are. Reggie pulls off his mask and Honey admits he just suspected but now happy to know for sure with Jughead calling Reggie an idiot.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: It turns out that while he may have gone a bit too far, Honey truly cared for the students and was really trying to help them prepare for life outside of school.
  • Karma Houdini: Subverted. The gang figures Honey got off lucky with his new job at Stonewall Prep only to find out he was the best principal Riverdale had in years.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: When Archie and Jughead joke about going to the prom together, Kevin dryly notes "Let the fan fiction begin."
    • As he leaves, Honey points out that a school of wild behavior, constant hook-ups and even murders "is not normal!"
  • Made Out to Be a Jerkass: The gang had figured Honey was acting out against them as a personal grudge for some reason. It turns out Honey is a really nice guy who was trying to prepare them for life outside of high school and truly cares for his students. It's proven by when office clerk Miss Bell tells them how Honey got full scholarships for six low-income students, raised the average GPA, and had more seniors heading off to college than have gone since 1956 (not to mention no students dying under his watch). To top it all off, Jughead discovers it was Honey's letter of recommendation that got him into the University of Iowa.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The gang when they realize they just pushed probably the best principal Riverdale ever had out of the school. Jughead is especially hit hard by this once he sees that Honey was the one who recommended that the University of Iowa consider admitting him.
    • In Jughead’s story, Reggie goes through this after Mr. Honey is killed. This results in Jughead and Betty killing him to keep him quiet.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Invoked by the group in the fantasies on how no masks would be enough to keep Honey from figuring out who they are.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Miss Bell tears into the gang on how Honey was the best principal she's worked for in 50 years, all the great work he did and the students had no idea they were trying to ruin a good man.
  • Sticky Situation: The gang's first attempt to get back at Honey is managing to glue his phone to his hand and his body to his chair.
