Betty and Jughead's investigation into the auteur leads them to discover a secret underground for red-band screenings. Elsewhere, to impress the visiting Naval Academy Commandant, Archie agrees to participate in a boxing exhibition against another candidate – KO Kelly. Meanwhile, as Cheryl prepares for prom, she stumbles upon an important secret that Toni's been keeping from her.

- Internal Reveal: Veronica finds out about the kiss between Betty & Archie and breaks up with him.
- The Prom Plot: The senior prom. Although it doesn’t get much time in the episode, there are still dress reveals, the group of friends celebrating and dancing together, and Toni and Cheryl are crowned prom queens. When Veronica tells Archie she wants to defer college a year so she can stay in town with him and he can work for her father, Archie reveals that the song was for Betty. He tells V that they kissed once, even though they snuck around and he wanted to be with Betty. V is devastated and they break up. After prom, Toni tells Cheryl that they can’t be together. Cheryl is also devastated.
- Serenade Your Lover: Played For Drama. After being rejected by Betty, Archie's hurt and when Veronica finds the song he wrote for Betty, mistakenly thinking he wrote it for her, Archie quickly throws it out, simultaneously expressing his pain by saying he stinks. Veronica picks it out of the trash and decides to surprise Archie by performing it at La Bonne Nuit. Archie and Betty are both horrified and exchange pained glances, while Veronica and Jughead are none the wiser.
- Torch Song: Archie's song transforms into this for himself and Betty, when Veronica performs it, as Archie is confronted with Betty rejecting him and Betty is confronted with cheating and her feelings for Archie, again. Sad feelings of lost love all around.
