As the residents of Riverdale prepare for its upcoming Independence Day parade, Archie receives a phone call that will change the rest of his life forever.
Tropes
- Accidental Murder: It turns out the guy who supposedly did the hit and run on Fred was lying to protect his son, who was actually the one who hit Fred due to his lack of driving experience. He's immensely remorseful for what he had done and tearfully apologizes to Archie.
- Actor Allusion: The late Hal Cooper's birthday is revealed in this episode to have been February 12, 1970. His actor, Lochlyn Munro, was born on that same day, four years earlier.
- The Cameo: Shannen Doherty has one as the lady Fred died saving.
- Downer Beginning: Only a few moments into the episode Archie gets the call revealing that Fred died.
- Dropped a Bridge on Him: Fred dies in this episode... as revealed via phone call.
- Papa Wolf: The guy that turned himself in for killing Fred was actually covering for his son, who took the car without permission to go on a joyride. After they're confronted by Archie, they tearfully hug each other and the parallels are not lost on Archie.
- Pet the Dog: Hiram was the one who paid for Fred’s funeral arrangements.
- Really Dead Montage: Downplayed. A clip of Fred installing soundproof boards into the garage for Archie and another of him being touched by Archie fixing the car briefly play before the episode ends.

- Wham Shot: Extremely easy to miss, but Alice, whose whereabouts are still unknown as she vanished with the Farm, is shown to be alive, and in access to news from Riverdale.
