Tropes
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Betty assumes she was in a trance when she killed Jughead. She remembers being hit by a drug with Charles suggesting that played into it but Betty thinks she was just knocked out to make it look like she did it.
- Caught on Tape: Averted. Betty bugs Bret's room to try to get him to confess what happened but, as if knowing it, Bret and Donna only act like Betty killed Jughead.
- Continuity Nod: When wondering about if Betty killed Jughead, Veronica brings up her "Dark Betty" attack back in the first season.
- Coming-Out Story: Mary reveals that Brooke is actually her girlfriend.
- Oh, Crap!: Said by Bret when a pissed-off Archie storms in to attack him.
- Out-Gambitted: The gang find themselves pushed this way by the Stonewall group...until Betty decides to throw them off by organizing a search party so Jughead's hidden body can be found.
- Refuge in Audacity: Each of the kids has a crazy excuse for coming home late in their underwear: Veronica tells her parents she lost a game of strip poker, Archie says he was skinny dipping and Betty claims someone spilled wine all over her clothes which got stolen. It says a lot each one of them gets away with these.
