Volume 1, with Rino Endou as its cover girl
Yuuki Akamatsu, who is in the Kyuumon Gakuen Second News Club, is asked to become the counselor of the club immediately after joining the club by Ayaka Nikaidou, the club leader. Joining him for this task are three other students, three female schoolmates who are supposedly experts in their given fields of focus: science representative Rino Endou, liberal arts representative Fumi Kujou, and physical education representative Ikumi Suzuki. Together they answer requests from students about whatever it is that's troubling them. However, the three always have different opinions and cannot get their views to agree, so they just try things out anyway...
Jinsei (人生, lit. "(Human) Life"), subtitled La Bonne Vie, is a light novel series written by Ougyo Kawagishi and illustrated by Meruchi Nanase. As of February 2014, seven volumes have been published by Shogakukan under their Gagaga Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation "Jinsei ~Chapter of Manga~" (人生～マンガの章～) illustrated by Seiji Matsuyama is currently being serialized on Shogakukan's Sunday GX. An anime adaptation by Studio Feel aired in the summer of 2014.
Jinsei gives examples of the following:
- All Men Are Perverts: While Yuuki can control his urges, Asano, other students and even adults don't have that filter.
- Art Shift: During Asano's delusions in episode 03, where the art changes to something you'd expect out of an otome game.
- Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Fumi (Beauty), Rino (Brains) and Ikumi (Brawn).
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Yuuki has rather thick and obvious ones.
- Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Fumi, Rino and Ikumi respectievely. They even have the personalities assoicated with said hair color tropes.
- Comically Missing the Point: Ikumi occasionally does this while giving advice.
- "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: The ending theme.
- Eyes Always Shut: Kumi has this most of the time.
- First-Name Basis: Yuuki is this with both Ikumi and Fumi, but not with Rino at first, as he and she were way too embarrassed to try it. They finally start doing so at the end of the first episode, however.
- For Science!: Rino's train of thought for every issue.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Roughly speaking, Ikumi is Sanguine, Yuuki is Choleric, Rino is Melancholic, while Fumi is Phlegmatic.
- Freudian Trio: Rino (Superego), Fumi (Ego) and Ikumi (Id).
- Funbag Airbag: Ikumi on Fumi, when the former runs out of the faculty room after failing to give a proper apology to her English teacher.
- Gratuitous English: In full force during episode 2, particularly the part where Ikumi tries to force her poor English teacher Mr. Chikada into forgiving her... by burying him in a torrent of every English phrase Ikumi could remember.
- Hot-Blooded: Ikumi.
- Letting the Air out of the Band: During the first segment of episode 03, after Rino shoots down how encouraging her actually helped her keep her balance on the bike.
- Limit Break: Fumi's grandfather apparently has three stages of these, each more ridiculous than the last. What's more, it's acknowledged by the family enough that they secretly hand out "rage meters" to their guests so they could measure whether or not he's getting angry enough to trigger one.
- Modesty Shorts: Ikumi wears spats under her skirt, and what's more, they're actually longer than her skirt.
- Ms. Fanservice: Pretty much every one of the main girls, but especially Fumi.
- Mundane Utility: In Episode 7, the science teacher invents a mecha to help men hide their porn.
- Narcissist: Asano, the president of the First Newspaper club, is definitely full of himself.
- The Ojou: Fumi. Not only does her family actually own the building they used for the Fortune Teller case in episode 3, her family residence is huge. Fumi herself mentions that she comes from a samurai lineage.
- The One Guy: Yuuki is the only male member of the Second Newspaper Club.
- Proper Tights with a Skirt: Worn by Rino in this case.
- Psycho Rangers: Asano apparently recruited his members to be counters to the Second Newspaper Club's staff... except he seems to have fixated on the wrong attributes for his people — he recruited Kumi for her boobs, Shino for her sharp tongue, and Yoshitaka because he was short and a guy. This final bit just manages to piss Ikumi off.
- Ikumi: Why is my fake a guy?
- The Rival: The First Newspaper Club, of course.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: In episode 11, Rino manages to use her glasses to make Yuuki avert his eyes from the shining light alone, let alone the implied threat.
- School Club Stories: In this case, one of the newspaper clubs for their school.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: Emi is capable of stripping herself in front of others if it involves art.
- Shipper on Deck: Pretty much everyone in the Second Newspaper Club is shipping Akamatsu with Rino. For good reason too.
- Spoiler Opening: Take note there are five girls in the opening, not four, which shows that the president of the struggling art club (who actually sent in a form during the first episode) will join in the Second Newspaper Club's antics eventually.
- Surprise Party: The end of the 2nd episode is this, an advanced birthday party for Rino, who's apparently never celebrated one on her own.
- Thanks for the Mammary: Done entirely by accident by Yuuki on Rino during the second episode. And again in the fourth episode, twice. In quick succession.
- Three Shorts: The format the show follows, with three "issues" that the main characters have to resolve per episode.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: Worn by Ikumi, though it makes sense in this case, given how she's a sporty tomboy.
- Town Girls: Fumi (Femme), Rino (Neither) and Ikumi (Butch)
- Tsundere: Rino, to 100%.
- Verbal Tic: Yoshitaka ends his sentences with "zu", which is translated as "yo" in the english subtitles.
- Vocal Dissonance: In episode 7 thanks to Ikumi hitting the wrong pressure point, Yuuki ends up speaking with a deep and smooth voice. He later learns to turn it on and off and uses it to hide his identity while disguised as Koganen.
