     (Sins Across Multiple Movies)
  • The Running Gag for Jeremy's adoration of Anna Kendrick, and in general beautiful women like Alexandria Daddario and Cara Delevigne not being his girlfriend.
  • Several of the videos come close of a very Affectionate Parody of the movie they are sinning. When a movie is genuinely good, Jeremy makes it clear that the video is just for fun and guarantees that the viewer know this is a really good movie. He has made these with Wall-E, Inside Out, Unbreakable, Signs, The Cabin In The Woods, Get Out, La La Land, etc.
  • On the other hand, whenever a movie has done things wrong and socially unacceptable, he will brutally call them out for it, which includes sexist content, such as Pixels, Romanticized Abuse, such as 50 Shades of Grey and Twilight, Unfortunate Implications like Passengers, etc.
    • He also has a strong rule to sin every scene with abuse against women and rape.
  • Jeremy loves to praise M. Night Shyamalan genuine talent and skill in his older movies like Signs and Unbreakable, which is honestly heartwarming, and even shows sadness for the troublesome moments in his career such as The Last Airbender.
  • Broadly, any time Jeremy removes sins for the strength of an actor's performance or a movie's genuine strengths. It goes to show that for all the nitpicking, the CinemaSins crew genuinely love movies and won't hesitate to praise what deserves to be praised.

     Back to the Future series
  • In the Back to the Future Part II video, on the off chance that the Cubs did win the 2015 World Series, Jeremy decided to add a second sins counter. Why? So that, if it was right, 20 sins could be retroactively removed.
    • Heartwarming in Hindsight because the year after that video was uploaded, the Cubs ended their World Series dry spell at last.

     Basic Instinct
  • Jeremy adds a sin when, during a sex scene, the woman says "No!" and the man continues.

     Batman: The Killing joke
  • Jeremy calls out the film several times for its treatment of Batgirl, and women in general.

     Beauty and the Beast (2017)
  • When the people criticized Belle for reading, Jeremy says "That's bookist" in a serious tone for the townspeople implying that Belle shouldn't read.

     The Breakfast Club
  • Jeremy takes off a whopping 36 sins in appreciation for the fact that the movie actually addressed Brian's suicide attempt and tried to shed light on mental health awareness in the 1980s. The movie was 36 years old at the time the video was made, so he took off one sin for each year since the movie was released.

     Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • During the senior dance scene, Jeremy silently removes a sin out of respect for the late Luke Perry.

     Cast Away
  • Jeremy sins Chuck's friends for simply leaving him alone in his hotel room after he was stranded on a deserted island for four years, citing Chuck's trauma and almost guaranteed mental health issues.

     Central Intelligence
  • Jeremy criticizes the film several times for its racist jokes, even adding 50 sins at one point.

     Child's Play

     Chronicle

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

     Dark Shadows
  • Jeremy sins the parents for sending their daughter to an asylum for (as far as they know) having an imaginary friend.

     DC Extended Universe
SHAZAM!
  • The usual aside, Jeremy makes it very clear that he adores this movie and removes a sin for Zachary Levi simply being wonderful as the title character.
  • He practically gushes about how the Valdez parents are great role models for foster parents.
Other
  • When doing a sins video for Dawn of Justice's trailer, Jeremy puts aside their "The Books Do Not Matter" rule and pretty much reveals how much of a Batman fanboy he is, right down to removing a sin for the reference to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and genuinely being mad at the sight of Batman with a gun.

     Disney/Pixar Animated Films

Dumbo

  • In the tearful scene with "Baby of Mine", Jeremy blusters over how he's not crying over "a fictional baby elephant", but nonetheless takes a sin off for how universally moving the scene is.

Aladdin

  • As soon as Robin Williams as the Genie starts talking, three sins are removed without comment. Jeremy's silence is honestly very telling.

The Lion King

  • Jeremy gushes right off the bat in the video, referring to it as one of the all time best animated movies.
    • Five sins are removed for the infamous Tearjerker, Mufasa's death, and for Disney having the guts to show his dead body onscreen, especially given their reputation as a family-friendly company.

Monsters, Inc.

  • Near the end of the sins video, during the scene where Sulley comes into Boo's room for the first time in a while and she recognizes him, Jeremy deducts a sin because, in his own words, "[he's] not made of stone."

Finding Nemo

  • Though he doubted it was the same one, Jeremy sinned Mr. Ray's entrance in the sins video "for being the same species or cousin species of that thing that killed Steve Irwin."

Cars

Up

  • He removes five sins for the "Married Life" montage.

WALL-E

  • Jeremy starts the review on a negative score because it does so many things not only different from other films, but does them right. He knocks off a few more during the rest of the review too.

Toy Story 3

  • Jeremy legitimately sounds like he's going to cry at the infamously sad ending and removes five sins.

Big Hero 6

  • Jeremy deducting a sin for Baymax's adorableness.

Inside Out

  • According to the comment section, Jeremy's laughter during the "GIRL! GIRL!" scene was genuine, and he enjoyed that scene so much that he recorded himself laughing for a few seconds and included it in the video.
    • Jeremy explaining that despite all their snarky nitpicking, they are still very glad that Pixar has returned to form.

Coco

  • He removes five sins, two for portraying Miguel's sheer love of music in every note, two for amazing visuals and one for Miguel playing "Remember Me" to Coco, freely admitting it's incredibly moving and he cried.

Toy Story 4

  • In the ending, he sins the fact that Woody left Bullseye behind, stating that there's no way Woody wouldn't have let Bullseye come with him.

     Despicable Me movies
  • When Vector prevents Margo from jumping to Gru in the first movie, we get this:
"I gotta hand it to Vector; he's great at being an asshole villain, much better than Gru. But I've never wanted to punch an animated character in the face more in my entire life."
  • Jeremy sins Agnes and Edith's attempt to find a unicorn without adult supervision in the third movie, especially given Lucy freaking out when they slipped out of her sight earlier.

     Dragon Ball: Evolution
  • For the Bonus Round, Jeremy makes a sole exception and breaks his own rule of not citing the original source material because Evolution angered the fanbase so much.

     Edge of Tomorrow
  • At the end of the sins video, when Doug Liman's name appears on the credits, Jeremy deducts two sins and congratulates him for making a good movie.

     Eragon
  • While he makes several mocking comments towards the fact that the movie is based on a story written by a fifteen-year-old, Jeremy concedes that the source material in some ways deserved some of its popularity and criticizes the film for omitting several of those popular elements.
  • Near the end of the video, Jeremy goes on a bit of a tangent about how the film was the only directorial effort by Stefen Fangmeier. He demonstrates genuine condolences for the man and gives the movie one last sin for destroying any chance Fangmeier might have had at being a director.
Jeremy: But in case you were worried there were no consequences, this is the only movie its director has EVER directed. Someone gave him his shot on this movie, and he stepped in it a little bit, and he hasn't directed a feature SINCE! That's damage. I feel bad for the guy, if I'm honest. The movie's process and/or reception f*cking ENDED this guy's directing career. No movie is so bad its director should ever be barred from ever trying again. Well, except for maybe Maximum Overdrive.

     Fast and Furious series
  • During Furious 7, Jeremy expresses some genuine sympathy for Djimon Hounsou, who plays a villain in the film, for getting typecast in many films as "token action henchman" despite being quite talented.

     The Greatest Showman
  • Jeremy removes a sin for the awesomeness of the Award Bait song "This Is Me," citing its being sung by the "freaks" about whom the movie is trying to engender pity and respect, as opposed to Barnum, who is shown in the video's context as a manipulative shyster willing to go to almost any lengths to make a buck.

     Hook
  • Jeremy gives five sins for the film's misappropriation of the Peter Pan story as being disrespectful of J. M. Barrie's brother, who died in an ice-skating accident at 14 and served as the inspiration for Peter's creation as a way to immortalize him.
  • During the last "outtake" in The Stinger, Peter's speech at the charity dinner gets overdubbed with the ending of Dead Poets Society, with some orphans appearing to say "O Captain! My Captain!" while standing up, and Peter appearing to say Dead Poets's last line "Thank you, boys.". Bear in mind that the video was posted a little more than a year after Robin Williams's death.

     Interstellar
  • Interstellar gets several sins taken off for scientific realism, but Jeremy also deducts a sin from the movie because of how emotionally charged the scene of Cooper watching his children age from behind a screen over 23 years (three hours for him) was.
    • A sin was also removed when Neil Degrasse Tyson points out half of the scientists in the film were women.

     Into the Woods
  • Jeremy gives the film's narrator a double sin: One for the usual "narration" offense and a second one because the narrator interrupted Anna Kendrick's singing.

     Jaws
  • Jeremy takes five sins off Jaws because he's such an a-hole just for reviewing it.

     John Wick
  • Jeremy takes one of the two sins taken off John Wick in the scene where John Wick's dog, Daisy, wakes him up from sleep, because it's so cute.
Jeremy: Awww, what a good boy! I'm taking off a sin for this goddamn good boy!

     Kingsman series

Kingsman: The Secret Service

     La La Land
  • He scolds Sebastian for a major Kick the Dog moment towards Mia:
Sebastian: Maybe you just liked me when I was on my ass because it made you feel better about yourself.
Jeremy: OVER THE LINE, dude! Way over the line!

     The LEGO Batman Movie
  • This progression with the first few "sins".
Movie would be amazing at CinemaSins.
Holy shit. Movie is amazing at WATCHING CinemaSins.
Holy shit. Movie is a FAN of CinemaSins. (Also, reading.)
If the movie had just said, "Narreading," I would have stopped the movie and sins video right here. Shortest sins video ever. Job would be done. We'd have an internal discussion about even releasing it.
  • His genuine laughter over the helicopters doing backflips, even removing a sin for it.

     Life of Pi
  • The film got a sin for the interviewer doing a mock-Indian accent right to an Indian's face. Jeremy inquires that if Pi and Mamji were black, would he have done the same thing in a black man's voice?

     Marvel Films

Hulk

  • Ang Lee's Hulk gets a sin taken off for putting some thought into a background presentation rather than just using something generic. Whatever his problems with the film, Jeremy appreciates that kind of effort.

Fantastic Four (2015)

  • During Fantastic Four (2015), Jeremy calls out the scientists for using a primate to test the trans-dimensional transporter first instead of a rat or fern since it's only a test to see if organic matter can be sent.

Guardians of the Galaxy

  • Jeremy deducts a sin for Groot giving a flower to a little girl. Even Jeremy, self-proclaimed asshole and (in this video) "100% a dick", admits it got to him and that his heart's not made of stone. A Pet the Dog moment for both Groot and Jeremy.

Black Panther

  • Remember that part where Shuri referenced the "WHAT ARE THOSE" meme? While most would expect Jeremy to add several sins for Shuri's use of a dead meme, he actually laughs and removes a sin because he likes her so much. He's perfectly willing to go against what's expected of him if he feels a movie has earned it.
  • He rags on the movie for the apparently poor CGI because, in his own words, "You're better than this, movie!"
  • He takes a sin off after Killmonger's "death is better than bondage" speech. If there was ever a time for some moron to stop speculating that Jeremy might be racist, it'd be at this point.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

  • Jeremy apologizes to Joss Whedon in advance for sinning two scenes (Quicksilver fighting Ultron drones and Ultron lifting a chunk of the city) due to their similarity to scenes from X-Men: Days of Future Past. He openly admits that both scenes are awesome and says it's too bad that Days Of Future Past upstaged them.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2

  • The dancing Baby Groot Scene, combine with Funny Background Event in the opening credits, puts Jeremy in a good mood. One sin removed.
    • Two sins removed for Batista as Drax, who manages to entertain Jeremy and makes him laugh.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

  • Jeremy really loves the film, saying that it captures the spirit of Peter Parker and Spider-Man very well. Also, this film is better than any previous Spidey film to him.
    • And he said he didn’t really like the involvement of Tony Stark’s technology in Spidey’s suit, saying that is anathema to what Spider-Man is all about.
Jeremy: “Thanks, Tony Stark, for ruining of what made Spider-Man cool.”
    • The movie earned a sin off for “Spider-Man giving directions to an older lady” scene.
Jeremy: ”That is EXACTLY what Spider-Man is all about!”
    • Jeremy also completely loves Peter's best friend Ned. He even knocks a sin off during his cameo in "Infinity War".
Jeremy: Ned, you are a treasure!

Captain Marvel

  • Despite not being a fan of the Stan Lee Cameos or long logos (which Marvel movies are both guilty of), even Jeremy found the Stan Lee tribute at the beginning to be touching, and removed 4 sins off the bat for that.
  • Later, another sin is removed where for all the faults the film may have, Jeremy finds Carol and Maria's friendship to be well-developed and touching but not to the point of being Narm.

     Mission Impossible
Fallout
  • Besides gushing about the film, a particular point of praise is towards Henry Cavill as August Walker, with Jeremy all but making it clear that he's realized Cavill was wasted in Justice League (2017).

     My Big Fat Greek Wedding
  • Jeremy removes a sin stating how awesome immigrant parents are.

     The Patriot
  • The main character's daughter, silent for the entire film, finally speaks to scream "PAPA!" as her father is heading off for battle. Jeremy at first tries to resist, knowing that the movie is just trying to cash in on his emotions, saying he isn't going to fall for it...but he does.
Jeremy: Oh, screw you, movie. You blew your wad on this emotional moment AGES ago! I will not give into my base emotions just because...(tearing up) you put a little girl on the screen that's...(crying) OH, for Pete's sake, would someone get that poor baby a tissue?

     Pitch Perfect

     Pixels

     The Room
  • A small one, but they give a sin for glossing over breast cancer as if it were nothing.

     The Sixth Sense
  • Jeremy says that if he hadn't seen Pay It Forward the following year, he would have taken a sin off of this video for Haley Joel Osment's performance.

     Scream (2022)
  • A sin is removed at the very end without a comment for the dedication at the end of the movie to Wes Craven, who died seven years before its release.

     Showgirls
  • In the tongues Bonus Round, the original 69 bonus sins are multiplied by 1 million (totaling 69,000,000) when it gets to the rape scene, "Because....this scene is that bad."

     A Star Is Born (2018)
  • Jeremy breaks character during Jack's suicide, removing a sin for the website doesthedogdie.com (which posts trigger warnings for various forms of media) and putting up the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, in case any viewers feel like hurting themselves.
Jeremy: I don't care that this is a stupid CinemaSins video... that sh*t's important.
    • Reality Subtext also arguably applies here: Jeremy's always been open about his own struggles with anxiety and depression, and openly encourages people to seek help if they ever feel suicidal on the channel's Twitter. Heck, the current Pinned Tweet on the account links to the US National Suicide Prevention hotline.

     Star Wars series

A New Hope

  • Kevin Smith is and always has been irritated that Chewbacca didn't get a medal like Han or Luke, feeling that the big guy deserves it.
    • Probably minor but Jeremy making a point that Leia is a badass when calling her out for not doing shit in a scene where she proclaimed "We did it!"

The Empire Strikes Back

  • Jeremy removes a sin for the famous "I love you/I know" exchange.

Return of the Jedi

  • Jeremy taking a sin off for how cute Wicket is, and screw the Ewok-haters...although he adds it right back when he then points out that, if it weren't for the Ewoks, Jar Jar Binks wouldn't exist.

The Phantom Menace

  • Rather than sinning Jake Lloyd's acting as Anakin, Jeremy instead expresses how he feels Lloyd got a bum rap considering that he was a child actor that was working alongside talented but very underused actors.

     Super 8
  • Jeremy sins the kids for having cliche dialogue for their Film Within a Film, but adds a disclaimer that he openly encourages kids to go out and pursue their passion in filmmaking, and also adds that he would actually be interested in watching the kids' film were it real.

     Superman series

Superman the Movie

  • The Stinger for the "Musical Bonus Round" is a scene of Superman and Lois floating in space accompanied with a certain Five For Fighting song.
  • Really, the fact that there are multiple alternate endings only because they seem to understand how beloved the movie is and is giving their viewers options so something they love won't be tarnished.

     Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

     Troll 2
  • His April Fool's Day video for Troll 2 is mostly just Funny Moments for all the sins being redacted with sarcastic, gleeful reasons. However, he does make one exception:
Character: He tried to turn me into a homo!
Narrator: (completely serious) That's racist. *ding*

     Twilight
  • Jeremy declaring that he's not going to judge anyone for loving Twilight.

Breaking Dawn, Part II

     What Women Want

     Who Framed Roger Rabbit
  • Jeremy shows genuine concern about kids watching the movie and being terrified by the scene where Judge Doom is flattened by a steamroller for being too horrific for a PG film and adds a sin for that.

     X-Men series
The Wolverine
  • Jeremy gives a sin for a scene he seriously believes to be racist, as indicated by the more serious-toned "That's racist." note
Deadpool
  • Jeremy calls out the film for attempting to invoke Crosses the Line Twice when Wade and Vanessa attempt to convince each other of their angsty backstories...when all it does it cross the line.
    • On the other hand, while he complains about the unrealistic amount of sex the two have, he admits that he genuinely believes their romance.
Logan
  • Despite usually hating child actors, Jeremy openly praises Dafne Keen's performance.
Dark Phoenix
  • Jeremy is clearly very disappointed by how the film turned out considering the previous X-Men films. He expresses genuine sadness over the usually great James McAvoy's Dull Surprise as well as being fair to Sophie Turner's dodgy American accent by assuring her that he thinks she's a great actress.
  • Jeremy takes two sins off for Michael Fassbender's performance in the scene where Erik is told of Raven's death, saying that anyone who wants to be a great actor should study it.
Jeremy: So Fassbender is gonna do a clinic right now on acting with your f*cking face. EVERYONE that wants to be a great actor should study this. I'm gonna take two sins off, because Fassy-boy is KILLING it, even in a movie that mostly sucks fuzzy weasel balls.
The New Mutants
  • Jeremy removes a sin for the movie treating Dani and Rahne’s romance as just another part of the story.
    • He also calls out Illanya’s racist remarks towards Dani.

     Unsorted
  • On Jeremy's channel, he calls out Hollywood for the shamelessness of making a movie on the "Bat-Kid" story.
  • On the "Cinema Sins Jeremy" channel, Jeremy narrates everything wrong with the second trailer to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It racks up 23 sins, until he gets to Han Solo and Chewbacca's appearance, which prompts Jeremy to remove all of the sins.
Jeremy: Trailer thinks classic music will get me right in the—aww, dammit!
  • On TV Sins channel, Jeremy grants a sin for Mother's Mercy for Shireen's death in the episode before it. Simply because burning a child is unforgivable even for a show this dark.
    • In the same episode, he gives 4 sins for each of the Direwolves who died in the show after hearing a rumor that the budget spent on the dragons were the reason the wolves didn't play a larger role in the story. Regardless of the fact that some of their deaths being book-accurate, its nice to know that Jeremy likes the Direwolves.
  • At the end of the Brand Sins video for the Oscars, in response to the outrage about the lack of nominees who were minorities, the narrator adds one sin each for five Oscar-worthy performances by black or Hispanic actors that were overlooked: Will Smith for Concussion, Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation, Michael B. Jordan for Creed, Jason Mitchell for Straight Outta Compton and Benicio del Toro for Sicario.
  • For Music Video Sins, Jeremy taking a sin off "Black Hole Sun" in memory of Chris Cornell.
  • Though no sin is removed during the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" sins video, Jeremy laments that Kurt Cobain has not been around since he committed suicide and once again gets serious and drops the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and advises the audience to seek help however they can.
And am I aware that I've gotten off-track from sinning this music video? Sure. Do I give a f*cking s*it? Absolutely not.
  • He describes the Lifeline again with Midsommar, after a mention of a scene with a murder/suicide (which he also doesn't show any of.)
  • Jeremy's genuine praise of deaf representation in movies– such as taking several sins off for the fully-ASL dialogue scenes in A Quiet Place– was already heartwarming, but became even more so with the reveal that Jeremy himself is deaf, showing that his appreciation is very personal to him.
