General

  • Rimuru, ignorant that naming creatures imparts some of his magical essence into them, names a large population of creatures at once, and loses so much of his form that he ends up as a puddle for a minimum of three days. This scenario happens multiple times through the early story, notably with the ogres, since there only being six makes him think he can easily handle it, only to learn that ogres are so strong they require tons more magicules than goblins, and he passes out into puddle form instantly just by thinking up their names.
  • Whenever Great Sage and later Raphael has a smug response is a guaranteed amusing moment. Specially when Rimuru ponders if it is developing more personality or becoming more verbose and it rebuffs with "No. That is just your imagination.", sometimes with Rimuru angrily remarking it totally did.

Main Series

Episode 1 - 12
  • The mere fact that Rimuru gets the Puppy-Dog Eyes treatment from Veldora, of all creatures.
  • Doubles as Heartwarming: Satoru's coworker actually fulfills his dying wish by erasing Satoru's Porn Stash in The Stinger of episode 1. By throwing Satori's entire computer into the bathtub while it was still plugged in. Talk about being thorough.
  • In Episode 2, Rimuru asks Veldora the most absurd question one could ask a Physical God.
Rimuru: "Want to get in my stomach?"
    • The pin dropping sound afterwards accentuates just how absurd the question was, while Veldora can only look at him as if he grew 6 arms.
  • In Episode 3, after taking the form of the direwolf alpha to browbeat the pack into submission, Rimuru changes back to his slime form...but keeps the wolf ears and tail for a moment. It's as adorable as it is hilarious.
  • In Episode 4, when Rimuru met with a group of bandits, he decides to transform into a Direwolf (although he didn't realize his Mimicry changes his form into a Tempest Starwolf instead). However once he uses his 'Menace' attack to scare them off, it did work although he realize he also causes people who were lining up to run, confused, fainted and soiled themselves. Whoops.
    • Rimuru is at first reticent to be taken to a hostess club, until he gets told that it's run by and staffed by lots of attractive elf girls. He goes while pretending he doesn't really want to, but once his cute appearance proves very popular with the hostesses, he pretty much stops trying to hide how much he loves it—at which point every single one of his male companions proceeds to give him big shit-eating grins. One of them even gives him a thumbs-up!
  • Episode 6, Rimuru tries to share his memories of modern Japan with Shizue to show her how the country has changed. Unfortunately, amidst these memories he accidentally includes the Elf pictures in his PC, much to Rimuru's horror.
  • Episode 7: Rimuru freaks out when Ifrit casts Flare Circle on him, surrounding him with flames. Rimuru thinks it's the end... and ends up wondering why the end is taking so long. Great Sage reminds him about his immunity to fire with a smug tone.
    • Ifrit begins to leave, only for Rimuru to shoot his sticky thread at him as Flare Circle drops. Rimuru says one thing:
      Rimuru: Did you do anything?
  • In Episode 9, when Rimuru obtains a human form and declares that he will eat with his people for the first time, Gobta asks him if he's doing so because it will make 'his' breasts grow. Rimuru, without changing his expression at all, boots him a few yards. If you look closely, you'll notice Gobta's wolf is disappointed in him.
  • Episode 11:
    • When Rimuru first sees Shion's cooking, he realize that Benimaru, Hakurou and Souei knew how bad it is and are deliberately avoiding eating it. He asks Great Sage to give instructions on how to eat it. He follows these instructions... and shoves the cooking into Gobta's (who was standing right next to him) mouth. Naturally, Gobta passes out, and Rimuru punishes Benimaru by making him a taste tester for Shion's cooking.
      • Gobta gains the Poison Resistance skill after he regains consciousness. That's right: Shion's cooking is so deadly that Gobta had to develop Acquired Poison Immunity just to survive having a single bite put in his mouth!
    • Before that, there's Rimuru being fought over by Shuna and Shion for the "right" to be his aide. While he's busy being stuck in a Lover Tug of War, the three dwarf brothers are looking on in utter perverted amusement. The shit-eating grins they're sporting and the way they stroke their chins in sync sell the scene.
    • Gabiru. Just Gabiru! Especially his negotiation with Rimuru and his gang to join his group.
    • "Weakling... Weakling... Wow!!"
      • Gabiru is hitting it off so badly that when Benimaru asks if he can just kill him (complete with the most pleasant smile/expression), Rimaru instinctively agrees before immediately retracting permission when he catches himself.
      • To boost Gobta's morale as he prepares to duel Gabiru, Rimuru decides to tell him that if he wins, he'll ask Kurobe to craft a special weapon. This gets Gobta only somewhat motivated, until Rimuru tells him if he loses, he'll ask Shion to serve him dinner, causing Gobta to get serious with a yellow aura. Naturally, this gets shocked looks from Rigurd and Benimaru, and Shion is quite annoyed.
  • Episode 12:
    • When Rimuru thinks back to the Lizardmen and remembers Gabiru, he flashes back to his introduction. In case anyone was confused, a caption that says 'This guy' is on screen with an arrow pointing to him.
    • When Gabiru comes to and realizes he lost the fight with Gobta, he comes to the conclusion the only way that was possible would be if Gobta was the actual leader of Tempest and he let his guard down thinking Gobta was just a grunt.
    • In the same scene, it takes Gabiru way too long to notice that there's a Monster Clown among his troops who definitely wasn't there before, resulting in quite a Double Take.

Episode 13 - 24

  • Episode 13:
  • Episode 16:
    • Gabiru continues to be a total goofball. In particular, he tries to show the fruits of his agriculture work... Except it's actually just a weed, not the plant he was tasked to grow. Rimuru even notes weeds should be even harder to grow in Veldora's cave with all the magical energy around.
    • Gabiru's sister joined him in joining Rimuru's growing nation. Gabiru assumed that she came because she missed him, to which she immediately replies:
      "Ew. No."
    • Milim. Just... Milim. She is a riot the whole way through the episode, and she and Rimuru play off each other very well.
      • Milim tells Rimuru that she just wanted to introduce herself.
        (Beat)
        Rimuru: THAT'S IT?!
      • Rimuru bribing Milim into negotiating a draw in their fight with delicious honey. It's so absurd that Benimaru, Souei, Shion and Ranga look utterly gobsmacked by the notion.
      • When Milim is trying to argue for the perks of being a demon lord, such as being able to boss around humans and majin, Rimuru asks if that simply means that she's bored. Milim's reaction is priceless, and Rimuru exasperatedly thinks he was right on the money.
      • When Milim makes a promise to Rimuru not to cause a commotion, Gabiru appears and ask who is Milim by calling her a runt. Cue Milim's Berserk Button as she punches him and sends him flying and screaming all the way to the town. After Gabiru wakes up, he tries once again asking who Milim is. He cuts himself off from calling her a runt again when he sees the Death Glare Milim is giving him, and calls her a "young lady" instead.
      • Rimuru's reaction to Milim declaring that she's going to live in Tempest, and when she says that she and him are now besties (for resties).
  • Episode 17:
    • When Milim tries to dig herself out of the fact that she attacked Phobio and ultimately fails, resulting in Rimuru telling her that she will go without lunch for this, she throws a childish temper tantrum and immediately proceeds to kick Phobio. With Phobio both being a jerkass who did deserve to be attacked and laying on the ground unconscious while foaming at the mouth, the results is rather funny.
  • Episode 19:
    • Great Sage offers no answer on how to defeat Charybdis, much to Rimuru's frustration.
    • Milim watches the fight between Tempest and its allies with Charybdis to drag on for so long that she falls asleep, and is very defensive when Rimuru wakes her up.
  • Episode 20:
    • Great Sage becomes annoyed that Rimuru used his powers to create manga for Yuuki.
Great Sage: Notice: This is a waste of my ability.
Rimuru: [After smacking her "text box" with his "body"] Baka! This is an extremely EFFECTIVE use of your ability!
  • Episode 22:
    • Every single Ramiris moment. To the point Rimuru questions her strength after smacking her.
  • Episode 23:
    • Great Sage continues to show more personality after successfully creating a superior spirit...
Rimuru: We did it, Great Sage!
      Great Sage: Heh.
Rimuru: (Thinking) I feel like I just saw Great Sage make a smug face...
Great Sage: You imagined it. (Punctuated by Great Sage literally bonking Rimuru over the head with her own "body".)

Episode 25 - Current

  • Episode 26:
  • Episode 27:
    • While spending the night at the Dwarven Kingdom, Rimuru and his male friends sneak out of their room while visiting the hostess club. After having a good time there, Rimuru tells everyone to keep a secret until Gobzo reveals that he already told Shuna the truth before they left. Everyone was in shocked on his revelation and sure enough, they were greeted by an angry Shuna and Shion. This cause Rimuru to keep an eye on Gobzo. They did forgive him... only to punish him by serving Shion's dish for a week.
  • Episode 36:
    • After all the drama, heartbreak, and joy of the preceding episodes, Benimaru finally tests Rimuru post Demon Lord ascension to see if he's Not Himself. The pass phrase? "What do you think of Shion's cooking? - It's extremely bad." Shion just happens to enter the room when they're about to discuss the phrase, as Rimuru realizes he got duped hard by his subordinate. Then Raphael gives him a great idea and clarifies exactly who made the phrase, throwing Benimaru under the bus.
Benimaru: ...This time, I might die...
    • It's even funnier in the anime version, as Benimaru tries to make him say it in the middle of a crowded plaza, with the rest of the kingdom looking on...while Shion is holding him in her arms. It's clear that Benimaru is trolling him. On top of that, Rimuru's first inquiries to Raphael prompt the spirit that is supposed to hold all the answers to draw a blank. Finally, Raphael comes up with the same answer as above, and we are treated to the sight of Benimaru becoming the fixation of Shion's wrath...while everyone else scoots away from him in the background.
  • Episode 37:
    • Veldora's resurrection, while originally in the bombastic ending of Episode 36, is given full focus here with him going full on Large Ham has he flies around, fires off several magic spells, and then proudly proclaims to Rimuru he's been learning all this time from the "sacred texts" (aka manga) from Rimuru's memories as well as his new-found "mastery" of shogi.
    • Almost everyone in Tempest is in utter disbelief this tall muscled blonde is Veldora, but Veldora himself is nervous (complete with blush) upon his initial introduction before he turns on the Large Ham.
    • Benimaru ropes Rimuru into eating Shion's food along with him, with both of them treating it like their last meal. But when she brings forth a nightmarish meal.. it actually tastes pretty good thanks to Shion gaining the Judgement Chef skill. Doesn't fix the texture or visual appeal of it at all, though.
    • Raphael being passive-aggressive with Rimuru after he tells her that he doesn't need constant status updates of incoming people if they aren't hostile, only to be blindsided by the elves since they approached without hostile intent. The "Hmph!" and sigh Raphael drops as Rimuru frantically apologizes almost comes off like an annoyed girlfriend.
    • Archduke Elalude accuses Rimuru of having seduced and/or kidnapped his daughter Ellen and starts charging up a massive fire spell to throw at him, all while Rimuru tries to explain things aren't anything like that. It takes Ellen herself coming in with the save...by hitting her old man in the head with her staff so hard he gets sent flying, followed up by her yelling at him about embarrassing her in front of her friends, including bonking him on the head several times.
  • Episode 38:
    • Laplace can't stop laughing about how his old boss Demon Lord Kazaream is now a beautiful elf woman, which eventually causes the newly-named Kagali to angrily snap at him to shut up.
    • Veldora is once again casually introducing himself to everyone who will listen. Fuze is left unconscious in shock, while Gazel and Elalude immediately adjourn the meeting so they can have a private talk with Rimuru to explain what he's been up to.
    • Shion and Diablo start getting into a competitive showdown on which of them should go and fight Hinata, only for both to be chastised by Rimuru since they're trying not to make a direct enemy of the Western Saints Church at this critical juncture...only for him to notice that Veldora had been inching forward as if about to throw his hat into the ring for the chance to fight Hinata, which he (badly) denies.
  • Episode 39:
    • After ending Episode 38 with Ramiris' ominous warning about Tempest's upcoming destruction, nobody seems fazed at all, complete with Diablo grabbing Ramiris by the wings and asking what he should do with the annoying insect interrupting the important meeting.
    • When Ramiris complains about the lack of respect for a Demon Lord like herself, Fuze admits the revelation of Veldora's revival has more or less filled everyone's daily quota of surprise. Ramiris, not knowing of this, immediately starts to Trash Talk about how she kicked Veldora's ass in the past with "one punch" and that the "Breeze Dragon" is nothing to her. Rimuru simply takes her from Diablo and nonchalantly puts her on Veldora's chest while he's reading manga and she's still laughing, telling the former to watch her. Ramiris finally puts two and two together that Veldora really is right in front of her and promptly faints in shock, all while Veldora picks her up with a "what am I supposed to do with this?" look.
    • Youm proclaims he will take the throne of Falmuth in order to prove himself to Myulan, which is a heartwarming moment on its own especially with her reaction. It goes to funny when you notice the shit-eating grin that Suphia has from witnessing this.
    • Elalude tries to be all cool when he prepares his final Armor-Piercing Question to Rimuru, but Ellen, bored with the proceedings as she knows he's just trying to look dramatic, tells him to get on with it. Rimuru feels so bad for the guy he decides to help and reestablishes the serious mood.
  • Episode 40
    • The number of faces Ramiris makes as she's trying to process and reconcile the conflicting accounts of Clayman claiming Rimuru killed Myulan versus Rimuru showing Myulan is just fine are just comedy gold. You can see her brain cells trying to put the info together.
    • Tempest hot springs are so fine even Beretta, a demon possessing a Golem, wants to enjoy them, complete with wrapping his hair into a bun so it doesn't get messed up. Ramiris herself can only question if he "rusts".
    • Black Comedy abounds when Shion reveals the results of her "interrogation" on the war prisoners.
      • First off, what she did to "interrogate" them left Youm and Myulan feeling queasy.
      • Next, when she wrote down the info in her notebook, she misspelled several of their names, including most notably calling Razen "Ramen" and leaving several people confused at first. Myulan has to clarify several names for the listeners.
  • Episode 42
    • The entire scene of Guy Crimson and Leon Cromwell meeting, despite the fact it should have the gravitas of two True Demon Lords interacting and discussing events and politics, is undercut by all the times Guy is unsubtly hitting on Leon and Leon's exasperated refusals.
      • Their proper meeting involves Guy trying to put his hands on Leon's cheeks and going in for a kiss, only for Leon to bluntly put his hand over Guy's mouth and tell him he doesn't swing that way. Guy follows up by nonchalantly offering to become a woman for him, with Leon again refusing. This clearly isn't the first time they've had this interaction, and it most likely won't be the last.
      • When Velzard shows up and all but drapes herself around Guy's shoulders, Guy asks if Leon is jealous of his "partner". Leon immediately refutes this.
  • Episode 43: While mixed with awesomeness, Gobta reminds the audience why he still hasn't changed deep down when, despite repeatedly countering Yamza's attacks with such apparent ease he can even do it without looking, Gobta in his thoughts is just desperate to back out of the fight because he's worried Yamza will manage to get past his guard, not even realizing it's Yamza who's freaking out on the inside about how strong Gobta is.
  • Episode 45: After the epic battle against Adalman and his undead legion, it shifts to comical as Adalman expresses a desire to pledge himself to Rimuru's cause and wants to make him his new "god". Cue Imagine Spot from Shuna as she thinks of Rimuru's Cute Slime Mook appearance and comments to herself she won't be responsible if he hits the Broken Pedestal moment on seeing it.
  • Episode 46:
    • Throughout Clayman’s needlessly dramatic speech, it’s abundantly clear that…almost no one gives a damn about what he’s saying, and most of the Demon Lords he’s trying to sway have clearly checked out with no forwarding address. Besides Rimiru, only Dagreul bothers to speak up, and he does so with a question that makes clear why he (and everyone else) isn't buying the story Clayman's trying to sell him:
"If what you said is true, and that Veldora is back, why would Rimuru need to take such roundabout methods to achieve his goals?"
    • After Rimuru destroys the council's table, a wide shot shows Clayman stumbling a bit (since he had his hands on the table), Nine-Heads falling to the ground with a yelp, and the sleeping Dino now sprawled out on the floor due to his support being gone.
    • While also awesome, Shion unleashing Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs on Clayman loops into hilarious due to how much he screams in pain and shock from it. And after she's done, she asks if she can have the right to fight him first. Rimuru comments she should have asked before doing that.
    • Rimuru arguing with Raphael about how she can't find the curse magic brainwashing Milim, to the point Raphael lights up red angrily.
    • Veldora comes in with the save protecting Rimuru from a devastating punch from Milim...only to take it right in the back of the head. Cue Veldora on his knees screaming in pain like an uncle who just got sucker-punched by a rowdy niece (though in context, that is exactly what happened).
  • Episode 47:
    • Veldora reveals why he suddenly showed up: he was pissed off that Rimuru left him with a Cliffhanger issue of the series he was reading and demanded the next issue. Later still, Veldora during his fight with Milim shows off what he learned from the manga...by revealing he mastered various Street Fighter and Dragon Ball techniques, including both Trope Namers for the Kamehame Hadoken. He also throws in a Tetsuzanko during the fight for good measure.
    • After Rimuru frees Nine-Heads from her Domination Curse, he holds her shrunken and resting form in his arms...only to get Ranga to start being jealous of the fact he now has a rival for the title of "Rimuru's favorite canine".
    • Beretta completely disassembled Viola and is now calmly taking the puppet apart for "spoils of war". He then admits he intends to use these as part of the plan to buy Ramiris and himself a place in Tempest. Rimuru can only mutter that he's picking up Ramiris' bad habits.
    • There's something hilariously cathartic about how deep in shit Clayman finally realizes he's in. From Shion No Selling his best attacks and taking him to the cleaners, to realizing he's been utterly duped by Milim, Frey, and Carrion, all his confidence is gone and it's glorious to witness his breakdown.
    • Carrion reveals he's been alive this whole time pretending to be one of Frey's bodyguards and Milim that she was Pretend to Be Brainwashed. Clayman's reaction is already hysterical, but Rimuru somehow gets it even worse because Raphael spotted obvious clues to both of these events, and Rimuru waved Raphael off on both counts. He can almost feel Raphael's metaphorical eyes glaring a very justified "I told you so" into the back of his head.
    • There's a great deal of Black Comedy to be had over how, following Shion cutting off Clayman's arms and leaving him paralyzed and bleeding out, everybody starts having a ton of buddy-buddy chatting while ignoring how he's bleeding to death beneath their feet, with even the camera treating his convulsing body as a Funny Background Event. It's especially amusing when considered as a potential Karmic Death for all the people he's led to dying cruelly while treating them as beneath him.
  • Episode 48
    • The Reveal of Demon Lord Luminous Valentine is far less impressive than she likely hoped for. After Veldora blabs aloud about how her stand-in Roy is merely a servant, Milim butts in and tells him that's supposed to be a secret... out loud to everyone listening. And Veldora still can't get Luminous' name right.
    • Frey and Carrion pretty much tag-team Milim into taking them on as her new subordinates, shutting down all her desperate protesting before she finally loses it and starts throwing a tantrum on the floor for them to do whatever they want.
    • After Rimuru notes the "Ten Great Demon Lords" are now just eight, the mood immediately drops. As it turns out, the Demon Lords held many Walpurgis meetings simply to try and think of a cool name to call themselves, and also reveals that they were annoyed by "The Ten Demon Lords" title being shoved onto them by the humans due to their numbers constantly fluctuating. Now they need to do it all over again. Veldora ends up mentioning Rimuru is good with coming up with names, and the whole Council appoints him to do so. When he tries to refuse, Guy pretty much strong-arms him, up to and including invading Rimuru's personal space to the point he's almost half-biting an ear, to intimidate him into it.

Slime Diaries

  • General
    • The series is a Slice of Life show following the characters activities and lives in Tempest. The moments that aren't wholesome and sweet enough to give you cavities will make you bust a gut, especially given the conetext that all of them are badasses that can level entire cities.
    • Remember the confrontation between Rimuru and Gazel, the one that convinced the latter to acknowledge Rimuru and his band of monsters as a fledgling nation? Every time it appears as a flashback, in contrast to the main series, Rimuru is always depicted wearing a bunny outfit.
  • Episode 1
    • The episode starts with a Serious Business debate among the leaders of Tempest, with all of them in disagreement and force to rely on Rimuru for the final decision. Benimaru calls Shuna into the room... where she shows two dresses that the council was debating on which look cuter on Rimuru. Rimuru asks if this discussion is that important, which they answer with a resounding yes.
    • Kurobe crafts a new kitchen knife for Shuna, who promptly tests it by trying to chop an onion with it. The damn thing is so sharp, however, that Shuna accidentally chops the entire house. A sharp reminder that Kurobe is a master blacksmith.
  • Episode 2
  • Episode 3
    • Tempest is suffering its first Heat Wave with Rimuru having an Oh, Crap! moment when he thinks that it was from all the trees they cut down to expand their town, affecting the environment. Rigur, who's with him, assures him that is not the case and it has nothing to do with him as it likely due to the disappearance of Veldora the Storm Dragon. A disappearance that happened because Rimuru ATE him, which only the slime knows.
Rimuru: [Nervously] Right its Veldora, nothing we can do about Veldora. [Thinking to himself] I met him. I became his friend and then...I ATE HIM! So this is totally my fault either way!!
    • Rimuru then apologizes, which the dragon can hear from inside his prison that he shares with Ifrit. After Veldora assures the slime (who can't hear him) not to worry, Ifrit, who's currently playing a game of Shogi with the dragon, points out Veldora made an illegal move to the latter's dismay.
  • Episode 5
    • At Tempest's festival, Geld is playing the target in a ball-throwing game. One of the little goblin children from Episode 2 throws a ball at him. It takes her a couple tries to actually throw the ball far enough to land it.

Extra Episodes

  • "Veldora's Journal" starts with showing the titular dragon's showdown with Ifrit inside of Rimuru. Except instead of being an fight, it's actually a game of Shogi. Ifrit is completely bewildered.
    • Ifrit is basically the straight man to Veldora's eccentricity, and it's glorious.
    • Veldora outright admits to being a tsundere when Ifrit asks about the way he talks.
    • The episode itself is a Recap Episode, with Veldora and Ifrit providing extremely Lemony Narration of the events of the first season.

Light Novel/Manga Exclusive

  • Volume 5, after Rimuru evolves into a Demon Slime, the entire part where Veldora was resurrected and inserted into a human body. Do note in the following volumes there's not even a single person shocked on meeting Veldora or his resurrection.
  • Anytime Ruminas meets with Veldora to the point Rimuru sighs on Veldora's idiocy. The reason for Ruminas hatred was due to Veldora destroying one of her kingdoms a long time ago before meeting with Rimuru.
    • What does Rimuru do when both meet again and Ruminas wants to punish/kill him in Volume 8? Rimuru just pass Veldora to Ruminas, much to their surprise.
  • Volume 8 has a long discussion amongst all of Rimiru's staff about their troubles finding love interests (because Benimaru found himself the target of two marriage proposals), mainly from Gabil. Even Soei chimes in and is unusually talkative about what attracts women. The entire exchange is hilarious.
