Fanfic / Fate/Long Night

Go To

Fate/Long Night is a Fate/stay night / A Song of Ice and Fire crossover by der Reichtangle.

During the Great Fuyuki Fire caused by the destruction of the Holy Grail, a cold and dark presence attacks and kills off Angra Mainyu, also known as Servant Avenger and All the World's Evil. Ten years later, the seven Masters are completely unaware that this is no longer the Holy Grail War, but the Trial of Seven. Instead of seven Servants, seven Champions are summoned. These Champions each represent a member of the Faith of the Seven and superficially resemble the seven Servant classes, but are not them and have different skills and traits. The Maiden's Champion resembles Archer, the Smith's Champion resembles Lancer, the Stranger's Champion resembles Assassin, the Mother's Champion resembles Rider, the Warrior's Champion resembles Berserker, the Father's Champion resembles Saber, and the Crone's Champion resembles Caster. The Master/Champion team to be the last one standing gets one wish, but the true purpose of the Trial is to decide which god gets to rule over all creation, at least until the next Trial.

Rin Tohsaka summons the Maiden's Champion, who freely identifies himself as Brandon Stark aka Bran the Builder, but she does not listen to him when he tries to explain the changed circumstances. Still thinking she's in the Holy Grail War, she adamantly calls him Archer as she believes he's just messing with her when he calls himself the Maiden's Champion. Kirei Kotomine informs her that all seven "Servants" have already been summoned. Things take a turn for the strange when Brandon gets into a fight with the Smith's Champion. Shirou Emiya witnesses the battle and the Smith's Champion decides to kill him to eliminate the witness. Shirou manages to summon Servant Saber, Arturia Pendragon, by instinct to defend himself. Now an eighth in a trial of seven, under the banner of no god, Shirou and Saber struggle to make sense of this different war they have been dragged into.

Tropes

  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: Arturia finds that her artificial arm's wrist and elbow can rotate all the way around. She decides to train to take advantage of this for sword duels.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: When Rin suffers a Rage Breaking Point, her long rant makes Brandon laugh, then Arturia admits to herself that it was a little funny.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Arturia won't tell Brandon her real name, so he decides to call her "Lannie", because she resembles a Lannister.
  • Amputation Stops Spread: When Arturia's left arm is stabbed by Nymeria's spear, Brandon quickly chops it off before her body gets infected with Greyscale.
  • Animal Eye Spy: The Stranger's Champion can see through the eyes of animals.
  • Animal Motifs: As a member of House Martell, Nymeria naturally has a snake motif. She uses a poisoned spear and she fights with snake-like movements.
  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • Both Nymeria and Brandon shake Arturia up by asking her what Nymeria's name is after she revealed the name of her spear. Since revealing the name of a Noble Phantasm normally gives access to a Heroic Spirit's identity, the fact it did not convinces her something is wrong and this is not the Grail War.
    • Robert Baratheon asks Illya what she truly wants now that she is a queen and is no longer controlled by the von Einzberns. After some consideration, she declares what she wants is her revenge on Shirou and to win the Trial of Seven and get the Holy Grail with the wish, all for her own satisfaction.
  • Artificial Limbs: Brandon replaces Arturia's arm with a metal one fashioned from her own gauntlet, which he colors gold. She is able to control it perfectly.
  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: After conquering the von Einzbern castle, Robert Baratheon declares, "She's the Queen of this castle! Illyasviel von Einzbern! First of her name! The Warrior's chosen! Victor to be! My Master!"
  • Badass Creed:
    • The Smith's Champion has, "For those who labor day and night, to forge the world of men right, with their tools of mettle and might, building a world for a future bright."
    • The Warrior's Champion has, "For those who stand before their foe, that soon after would lay them low, charging with no fear ever to show, and defeat never for them to know."
    • After becoming a queen, Illya chooses as her House Words "Durch Sieg Gesablt", which means "By Victory Anointed" in German.
  • Bare-Handed Blade Block: Shirou tries to ambush Nymeria with a knife. She catches it with her thumb and pinky, then snaps the blade.
  • Berserk Button: The Mother's Champion has two, harming Sakura (he beats up Shinji and nearly strangles him to death for trying to slap her) and giving him orders, especially if he is forced to obey one with a Command Spell. He says as he is a king, he is commanded by no one, not even Sakura. He only tolerates having a Master because he needs one to exist.
  • Big Eater: Robert Baratheon eats and drinks so much that the von Einzbern castle has to restock its stores every day.
  • Blatant Lies: When Brandon saves Shirou from being killed by Nymeria, he tries to convince Shirou that he's only dreaming. Shirou sees through it immediately.
  • Blood Knight: Nymeria Martell and Robert Baratheon are both obsessed with fighting strong opponents.
  • Blow You Away: Like in canon, Arturia has her Invisible Air Noble Phantasm, which sheathes her sword in a cocoon of wind that makes it invisible, and she can generate gusts of wind. It's powerful enough to knock Nymeria's flying shield away.
  • Bridal Carry: After summoning the Mother's Champion and then transferring ownership to the Stranger's Champion, Sakura is exhausted, so the Mother's Champion carries her in his arms. She gets embarrassed by this treatment.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Robert Baratheon is a lot smarter than he looks, but if a matter doesn't involve fighting, feasting, or fucking, he doesn't care about it.
  • Cassandra Truth: Brandon repeatedly tries to explain to Rin about the Trial of Seven and the Champions, but she dismisses it.
  • Character Development: Robert Baratheon has gone through this in between his death and return as a Champion. When Illya suggests he use the wish to bring Lyanna Stark back, he declines, saying he never really knew her and doesn't deserve her, and it is best to move forward instead of dwelling on the past.
  • Combat by Champion: The whole point. The gods bring back people who embody their ideals to fight in their stead to decide which of them gets to rule.
  • Confusion Fu: Nymeria is incredibly agile and both her body and her spear are extremely flexible, allowing her to attack from unexpected angles.
  • Contortionist: Nymeria's body can bend and twist at near impossible angles, which she takes full advantage of in battle.
  • Conservation of Ninjutsu: Justified in that one of the Warrior's Champion's Class Skills is that their strength is multiplied by the number of opponents they are fighting. Ganging up on Robert Baratheon just makes him more powerful.
  • The Corrupter: Of a sort. Robert's interactions with Illya convince her to stop obsessing about why Kiritsugu abandoned her and just focus on punishing him and Shirou.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Brandon has the ability to make walls and pillars erupt out of the ground.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Angra Mainyu is killed before he has a chance to do anything.
  • Emerging from the Shadows: Zouken Matou performs the summoning ritual, but nothing seems to happen. Losing patience, he commands his "Servant" to come out. The Stranger's Champion steps out of the shadows, but shocks him by wearing the form of his lost love Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • Shirou, Rin, and their summons agree to an alliance until the other combatants of the war have been dealt with.
    • Robert Baratheon pauses his battle with Brandon and Arturia and suggests they team up to deal with the approaching Kingsguard.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: When Nymeria activates Chrohea Thaiye and throws it, Arturia sidesteps the spear, but it hits Nymeria's shield, which was behind her, and bounces back to stab her in the arm.
  • Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: Illya confidently explains how Robert Baratheon gets stronger with each opponent, though she waits until Arturia and Brandon are already getting pummeled to do so.
  • Eye Scream: Brandon manages to slash Robert Baratheon's eyes with shrapnel, but he is unfazed and they simply heal up.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Unlike regular Servants, the Champions did not receive any knowledge about the modern world, only knowledge about their own world, Westeros, so they are shocked by certain things like cars. The Stranger's Champion may be an exception because she gains the memories of the people she impersonates.
  • Forbidden Fruit: Illya gives Robert Baratheon permission to sleep with any of her maids except Sella and Leysritt, which only makes him want them more.
  • Freudian Threat: To get Brandon to stop teasing her, Rin threatens to use a Command Spell to make him rip off his own genitals.
  • The Gadfly: Brandon enjoys teasing Rin and Arturia.
  • Genius Bruiser: Brandon is a skilled warrior and skilled craftsman who was able to teach himself how to read Japanese by reading Rin's lips as she sounds words out when she reads.
  • Groin Attack: The Stranger's Champion grabs Shinji Matou's nuts and squeezes when he tries to insult her. She only lets go when Sakura asks her to.
  • A Handful for an Eye: Shirou temporarily escapes Nymeria by throwing the contents of a pepper shaker at her face.
  • Home Field Advantage: Nymeria's Bloodline Relic, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken", makes the battlefield experience the harsh heat of the Dornish deserts. As she lived in Dorne, it doesn't bother her much, while her opponents will quickly get exhausted and thirsty.
  • Honor Before Reason:
    • Despite Rin ordering Brandon to let Arturia and Nymeria possibly kill each other to thin out the competition, he interferes and chops off Arturia's arm when it gets infected. He says he could never let anyone, even an enemy, suffer from Greyscale.
    • When the Kingsguard approaches their battle, Robert Baratheon wants to team up with Arturia and Brandon instead of taking advantage of his Conservation of Ninjutsu ability because he didn't think it would be fair.
  • Humiliation Conga: First, Shinji Matou gets his nuts crushed and then told how worthless he is by the Stranger's Champion. Then he gets beaten up by the Mother's Champion. A few days later, the Stranger's Champion comes to the school pretending to be his babysitter and acts like an Amazingly Embarrassing Parent, treating him like a little kid who still needs to be walked home and causing all his classmates to laugh at him.
  • I Can't Sense Their Presence: The Stranger's Champion meets Arturia and Brandon while pretending to be a civilian. They figure out what she really is because they can't sense her energy.
  • An Ice Person: Brandon's body is deathly cold and anyone he touches feels it harshly.
  • Ignored Epiphany: The Stranger's Champion helps Zouken realize how his obsession with immortality has ruined his life and cut him off from his loved ones. Zouken seems to consider it for a few seconds, then angrily declares his goal is all that matters.
  • I Know Your True Name: The Smith's Champion uses her Semblant Relic, Chrohea Thaiye, on Arturia and she is shocked when she doesn't recognize it nor her opponent. However, Brandon recognizes it and quickly identifies her as Nymeria Martell, Warrior Queen of the Rhoynar. This causes Nymeria to retreat, as this means Brandon knows how to fight and counter her.
  • Insistent Terminology:
    • The Champions use Westerosi terminology whenever possible. For example, Brandon calls Kirei Kotomine a septon instead of a priest and calls teachers maesters. Instead of Noble Phantasms, they use Semblant Relics and Bloodline Relics.
    • As she still thinks this is the Holy Grail War, Rin continues to use the "proper" terms and always calls Brandon "Archer".
  • In the Hood: In her true form, the Stranger's Champion wears a black and white cloak with a hood that makes it almost impossible to see her face.
  • I Shall Taunt You: While Arturia is fighting Robert Baratheon, Brandon refuses to help because he knows it will only make Robert stronger. Illya tries to goad him into attacking by calling him a coward and then threatening to have Robert rape and kill Arturia and Rin. He doesn't fall for it.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Jubstacheit von Einzbern repeatedly refers to Illya as nothing but the vessel for the Holy Grail. Robert Baratheon makes him pay for it.
  • The Juggernaut: Robert Baratheon's Bloodline Relic, Ours Is The Fury, makes it so he cannot be slowed down by any barrier, restraint, or non-lethal injury. He can effortlessly plow through the von Einzbern Bounded Field and Brandon's wall constructs, and shrug off multiple cases of impalement.
  • Kill It with Ice: Angra Mainyu and his trademark black mud both freeze solid.
  • Kiss of Death: The symbolic version. The Stranger's Champion, wearing the face of Zouken's lost love Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern, gives him a kiss while trying to convince him to die.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Robert Baratheon forces the von Einzbern household to kneel before Illya or die. Jubstacheit stubbornly refuses, but Robert simply manhandles him to the ground.
  • Language Barrier: According to Brandon, while the Champions can speak Japanese, they cannot read it, though he's able to teach himself how to read it.
  • Living Aphrodisiac: Nymeria's Kingtamer ability causes all kings to become incredibly attracted to her. Though this won't stop them from fighting her, it obviously messes with their concentration. So far, Arturia, the King of Knights and Great Britain, and Brandon Stark, the King of Winter, have been affected.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Sakura, Shinji, and the Mother's Champion have no idea who or what the Stranger's Champion is. They think she's a human mercenary hired by Zouken.
  • Loophole Abuse: After being convinced she's in the Trial of Seven, Illya says she'll use the wish to get the Holy Grail.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Nymeria has a circular shield that can float in the air and automatically position itself to defend her against attacks.
  • Magic Knight: Arturia, Brandon, and Nymeria all fight with a combination of melee weapons and spells.
  • The Magic Touch: Brandon has a skill similar to Reinforcement magic. He was able to turn a piece of glass into a lens that lets Rin see across the city.
  • Making a Splash: Nymeria knows Watermancy, though she's not an expert.
  • Mercy Kill: Shortly after being summoned, the Stranger's Champion tries to convince Zouken Matou to commit suicide. When he demands to know why, she says she's seen how horrible his life is and believed the best service she could give him is the gift of death. He absolutely refuses and she accepts his decision.
  • Mistaken for Gay: When Shirou says he's never had a girlfriend in his life and that he finds Nymeria scary instead of hot, Brandon asks if he's a "sword swallower".
  • Mistaken Identity: As soon as Illya summons him, Robert Baratheon tries to attack her because she looks like a Targeryen. As soon as she reveals her full name, while preparing to use a Command Spell, he stops and apologizes.
  • Mr. Exposition:
    • Brandon explains the Trial of Seven to Arturia. Unlike Rin, she listens.
    • Robert Baratheon explains the Trial of Seven to Illya, and also explains about each Champion.
  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes: As Angra Mainyu dies, he flashes back to his origin as an ordinary villager who was sacrificed as a scapegoat for his people's sins, leading him to becoming the God of Evil.
  • Name Amnesia: As a Faceless Man of the House of Black and White, the Stranger's Champion had given up her name long ago. Between that and all the different identities she had assumed, she says she cannot remember her original name.
  • Nested Ownership: Zouken gives the Book of the False Attendant to the Stranger's Champion, making her the Mother's Champion's Master.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Due to not listening to Brandon's warnings, Arturia and then Rin jump into his fight with Robert Baratheon, multiplying Robert's strength by three.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown:
    • The Mother's Champion subjects Shinji to one for the crime of attacking Sakura, and would have killed him if Sakura hadn't stopped him.
    • Robert Baratheon subjects Jubstacheit von Einzbern to one for insulting him and Illya, until he agrees to surrender his castle to them.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: As the Stranger's Champion is pretending to be a magus hired by Zouken, she pretends to be ignorant of the Trial of Seven when interacting with the Mother's Champion.
  • Off the Rails: What should be the Fifth Holy Grail War is instead replaced with the Trial of Seven, and the prize is changed from the Holy Grail to the Holy Star. Most of the summoned champions (minus Arturia) are Westerosi heroes, who are at a total loss at being summoned to an entirely foreign land. Saber's the only actual Servant present (and maybe Gilgamesh).
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • After Nymeria uses Chrohea Thaiye, she asks Arturia if she figured out her name, and Arturia is shocked to discover she does not.
    • Arturia, Shirou, and Rin are all horrified when Brandon reveals the arm he chopped off Arturia is infected with Greyscale.
    • Brandon has this reaction when Illya reveals she summoned the Warrior's Champion.
    • Illya has this reaction when Brandon suddenly appears right next to her with a Flash Step while she was taunting him and grabs her.
    • Shirou's group (except Brandon, who already knew) has this reaction when Illya explains how Robert Baratheon becomes more powerful with each opponent.
    • Everyone has this reaction when they are suddenly faced with three Father's Champions.
  • One-Steve Limit: Discussed when Brandon tells Arturia he's unconcerned with revealing his real name because there are a lot of people in his family with that name.
  • Pass the Popcorn: The Stranger's Champion literally munches on popcorn while spying on Shirou and Rin's group, highly entertained by them.
  • Personality Powers: The Champions are summoned by the Master that most fits their personality and that of their patron god.
    • The Maiden sponsors young people who wish to show off and surpass the old, which fits Rin with her desire to prove herself a magus who can live up to her father's legacy and Brandon Stark who started his legend as a boy.
    • The Smith sponsors underdogs with unyielding determination, which fits Nymeria Martell, an immigrant who rose up to become a queen and conqueror.
    • The Warrior sponsors those with an unstoppable thirst for victory, which fits Illya who wants nothing more than to win and get her revenge and Robert Baratheon who loves fighting and winning.
    • The Crone sponsors those who believe knowledge is power.
    • The Father sponsors those who believe in honor, righteousness, and justice, which fits the Kingsguard whose non corrupt members embody these traits.
    • The Mother sponsors those who suffer and cry out to be saved, which fits Sakura who has been raped and abused since being adopted by the Matou family, while her Champion is her savior.
    • The Stranger sponsors those who deal in death, which fits Zouken with his obsession with death and immortality, while his Champion is a Faceless Man, an assassin who worships the God of Death.
  • Playing with Fire: The Mother's Champion can generate flames, and his body temperature is so high it makes Shinji's sweat evaporate when the Champion grabs him.
  • Poisoned Weapons: Nymeria's spear, Chrohea Thaiye, is imbued with several poisons and diseases that she can switch at will. One of the nastiest is Tanatha Rhoyne, aka Greyscale.
  • Poor Communication Kills: While fighting Robert Baratheon, Brandon tries to explain why ganging up on him is a bad idea, but Rin and Arturia keep interrupting him and he gives up on it. As a result, Robert's strength gets multiplied by three and he curb stomps them. If Brandon had bothered explaining what each Champion does when he explained the Trial of Seven earlier, they could have avoided this.
  • Protectorate: Though he does not obey her, the Mother's Champion feels the urge to keep Sakura safe. He eventually agrees to let the Stranger's Champion become his new Master because that will mean Sakura doesn't have to appear on the battlefield.
  • Rage Against the Heavens:
    • Brandon Stark and Robert Baratheon say the gods must be pricks to force them to fight each other when they figure out the other's identity. Brandon is the ancestor of Robert's friend Ned Stark, while Robert is the descendant of Brandon's friend Durran Godsgrief.
    • Brandon angrily says the Father is a cheating prick when it is revealed he sent multiple Champions instead of just one.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • The Stranger's Champion gives one to Zouken after being summoned, through the faces of the many people he's known and lost in the road to his obsession with immortality, with the intent to distract him and weaken his will to kill him gracefully. He snaps out of it at the last second, immediately burning a Command Spell to force the Champion to drop the disguise, quit it with the speech and the masks, and never harm him.
    • The same Champion tells Shinji that he's completely useless as he cannot contribute to their cause in any meaningful way and the only reason why Zouken keeps him around is to eventually sire the next Matou generation.
    • Robert Baratheon calls out Jubstacheit von Einzbern and the rest of the von Einzbern household for forcing a little girl to fight their battles for them and asks what kind of sick people would throw a little girl into the snowy woods naked.
  • Red Baron:
    • Arturia is the King of Knights.
    • Brandon Stark is known as Bran the Builder and the King of Winter.
    • Nymeria Martell is known as the Serpent of Ny Sar, the Warrior Queen of the Rhoynar, and the Kingtamer.
    • Robert Baratheon is known as the Usurper, the Demon of the Trident, the Crowned Stag, the Whoremonger King, and the Doom that Befell Valyria's Children.
    • The Maiden is known as Mistress of the Wilds, Firedaughter, A Thousand and One Skins, and She Who Dances Under the Starry Moonlight.
  • The Reveal:
    • The Maiden's Champion is Brandon Stark aka Bran the Builder.
    • The Smith's Champion is Nymeria Martell, Warrior Queen of the Rhoynar.
    • The Warrior's Champion is Robert Baratheon.
    • The Father's Champions are the Kingsguard who served under Aerys "The Mad King" Targeryen. Among them are Ser Arthur "Sword of the Morning" Dayne, Ser Oswell Whent, and Lord Commander Gerold Hightower.
  • Revenge:
    • Like in canon, Illya wants to enslave and eventually kill Shirou for "stealing" her father.
    • The Kingsguard want to kill Robert Baratheon for killing Prince Rhaegar Targeryen.
  • Sacred Hospitality: After making their alliance, Shirou invites Rin and Brandon into his home. Arturia protests, believing Rin and Brandon will simply attack them when they drop their guard. Brandon becomes incredibly offended and says he'll never violate Guest Right.
  • Safety in Muggles: While Arturia and Brandon are walking to the school to pick up Shirou and Rin, the Stranger's Champion joins them pretending to be a civilian. When they realize she's an enemy, they can't attack her because they are in public during the day.
  • Scared of What's Behind You: Robert Baratheon pauses his battle with Brandon and Arturia and everyone turns in Illya's direction. As she wonders why everyone is staring at her, it is revealed three of the Father's Champions are standing behind her. Fortunately, they walk around her and don't harm her, wanting to honorably duel the fighters.
  • Somebody Named "Nobody": The Stranger's Champion tells Zouken she has no name and to call her "No One".
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Shirou survives that first encounter at the school and doesn't have to be revived by Rin.
  • Sparing the Aces: After Shirou manages to evade her several times, Nymeria is impressed by his skill and determination and comments it would be a waste to kill him, so she tries to convince him to come with her and become her Master's apprentice. He refuses, not wanting to join someone willing to kill innocent bystanders. Nymeria then decides to take him by force before Arturia is summoned to stop her.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Nymeria is 6'4'' and is considered attractive by several characters.
  • Stupid Sexy Flanders: One of Nymeria's Semblant Relics is Kingtamer, which causes all kings to become attracted to her. This includes Arturia, the King of Knights and Great Britain. This really upsets Arturia.
  • Taught by Experience: While Robert Baratheon is still a womanizing hedonist, he's become much wiser since he remembers how he screwed up in his original life.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: After being betrayed by Kiritsugu Emiya in the Fourth Holy Grail War, Arturia doesn't trust Rin and Brandon no matter how much they help her and is paranoid that they will betray her and Shirou. The only reason why she trusts Shirou is because she can see how naive and idealistic he is, so he would never betray anyone.
  • This Cannot Be!: As he dies, Angra Mainyu complains that it isn't fair and wonders how it's even possible for All the World's Evil to die.
  • Troll: The Stranger's Champion finds enjoyment in messing with and humiliating Shinji however she can.
  • Unhand Them, Villain!: When the Mother's Champion beats up Shinji and then starts strangling him, Sakura asks him to let him go, but it doesn't work until she uses a Command Spell, at which point he complies by hurling Shinji into a wall hard enough to crack it. Sakura notes she should have worded that more specifically.
  • Victory by Endurance: Nymeria's "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" is meant to drain her opponent's stamina. When they fight, Arturia has to deal with that plus her poor Prana supply from Shirou.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: The Stranger's Champion has the ability to take on the appearance of anyone who has died. It doesn't seem to matter where and when they died, as she is even able to appear as Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern, who had died over 200 years ago. She gains their memories as well, allowing her to impersonate them perfectly.
  • We Are Not Going Through That Again: Robert Baratheon remembers how he screwed everything up in his original life by becoming a king by conquest. Rather than repeat that mistake, when he conquers the von Einzbern castle, he makes Illya its Queen, with him as her knight.
  • Why Won't You Die?: Rin asks why Robert Baratheon won't die after getting impaled over and over again.
  • Wipe the Floor with You: Robert grabs Brandon and runs while dragging his face along the ground.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Like in canon, Shirou gives Arturia a poor supply of energy, making her weaker and unable to exert herself as much. It is because of this that she cannot regenerate her arm after it was cut off, forcing Brandon to make her an artificial one.
  • Worth It: Robert eventually says that he was in a loveless marriage to Cersei Lannister and had to put up with his evil little shit of a son Joffrey. After he died, he learned that all of his children were actually born from an affair Cersei had with her own brother Jaime. Robert says he does not regret his life and will not change it with a wish because he truly loved his other children Tommen and Myrcella.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child:
    • After being challenged by Illya, Rin prepares to attack, but Shirou protests that they can't attack her because she is a child. Illya scoffs because unknown to them, she is really 18, while Rin gets annoyed and points out Illya threatened to enslave and probably kill him.
    • Brandon grabs Illya and threatens her to try to get Robert to back off, but lets her go because he can't bring himself to harm a child.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Brandon and Robert use a lot of wrestling moves on each other when they fight.
  • You Are Already Dead: After Nymeria stabs Arturia in the arm, she starts walking away. Arturia calls her a coward, but she chuckles and says she already won. Arturia didn't notice the stab infected her with Greyscale, and the infection was slowly traveling up her arm and would have reached her body if Brandon hadn't stepped in and chopped it off.
  • You Can Talk?: Illya is shocked that Robert Baratheon can talk, as Berserker shouldn't be able to talk. Of course, he is not Berserker, he is the Warrior's Champion.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!:
    • Rin's reaction when Brandon, whom she thinks is Archer, reveals his main weapon is a hammer.
    • After Brandon explains what Chrohea Thaiye does and how he saved her from Greyscale by chopping off her arm, Arturia can't believe she was cursed by a spear again (the first time was when she was stabbed by Gae Buidhe).
  • You Remind Me of X: Robert Baratheon says Arturia resembles his wife Cersei Lannister, which makes him happy because he always hated her, meaning he won't hesitate to fight Arturia.
