Bronwyn is a brawny barbarian bruiser with a broken heart; Graow a lonely beastman who talks to dinosaurs. What happens when these two team up against an evil sorcerer? Action and romance abound in this action-romance miniseries by writer Aubrey Sitterson and artist Jed Dougherty.
Published by Dark Horse Comics starting in July 2021.
This comic provides examples of:
- Action Girl: Bronwyn
- Admiring the Abomination: Pheaux and Fo do this with almost every monster they come across — even ones actively trying to kill them!
- All Love Is Unrequited: Graow falls head over heels for Bronwyn immediately upon seeing her. Too bad she finds him completely repulsive — at least at first.
- Amazonian Beauty: Bronwyn is the most apparent example, but many of the nameless background women are also sporting muscular physiques.
- Barbarian Hero: Bronwyn is a rare female example.note
- Battle Couple: Bronwyn and Graow
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: Graow and Bronwyn in spades.
- Bickering Couple, Peaceful Couple: Compare Bronwyn and Graow to Pheaux and Fo.
- Bird People: The Flappers are a Proud Warrior Race of bird-people, made up of parrots, flamingos, hornbills and birds-of-paradise.
- Cadre of Foreign Bodyguards: Bronwyn and Arkot served as this for Pheaux and Fo before the story proper begins.
- Chick Magnet: Humorously, Graow can't seem to keep the ladies from admiring his big, virile horns. All except for Bronwyn, of course.
- Cleavage Window: Bronwyn. See above image.
- Dungeon Crawling: Pheaux and Fo are your classic D&D treasure hunters, to the point where they pretend togive their companions some alone time in the local Temple of Doom while they steal everything that isn't nailed down (and then some that is).
- Everyone Can See It: Said almost verbatim by Fo in regards to Graow and Bronwyn.
- Exposed to the Elements: Lampshaded. Bronwyn, despite her attire, is the only character seeminly affected by the heat and humidity of the jungle — compared to Fo and Pheaux, who despite being in full traveling attire, are sitting around a campfire.
- Fauns and Satyrs: The beast men, due to their horns, fur, and love of dancing and feasting. Graow fits the image even more, with his living in the forest, talking to animals and flirtatious personality.
- Genre Mashup: Sword and Sorcery meets Romantic Comedy
- Happily Married: Pheaux and Fo
- Hungry Jungle: Much of the story takes place in an inhospitable rainforest, full of man-eating dinosaurs. Closer to Jungle Japes for Graow, who lived much-of his life there.
- Innocent Innuendo: Graow is complimented by multiple women on his big, virile horns. Considering his ex-wife mocks him as a "fluxless freak", it's clear the "horns" are just that.
- The Lost Lenore: Arkot is this to Bronwyn, while also serving as a Dead Partner.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Bronwyn's barbarian biceps are comparatively more masculine to Graows lithe figure, which is only accentuated by their height difference. This point is hammered home even more when they arrive in Chellon: compared to Graow, the other beast man males (and some of females) stand taller and beefier.
- Non-Nude Bathing: While bathing, Bronwyn decides to remove her armor — while leaving on her under-armor.
- Outdoor Bath Peeping: Graow first catches sight of Bronwyn while she's bathing.
- Pardon My Klingon: "Flux" takes the place of all kinds of words, and can seemingly be used as a noun, verb, and adjective.
- Suggestive Collision: Happens to Graow and Bronwyn — twice!
- Sword and Sorcery: A barbarian woman and her beast man sidekick face-off against an evil wizard bent on world domination — all while wearing as little clothes as possible.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Graow is quite a bit shorter than Bronwyn, his horns only coming up to her shoulders.
- Turtle Island: The beast man city of Chellon is built on top of one.
- Unicorn: Pheaux and Fo buy a pair of them with all their stolen loot. They look like alpacas.
- Unusual Euphemism: To have "flux" is incredibly important to a beast man, in much the same way that to a Klingon it is important to have "honor".
- Walking Shirtless Scene: Graow. See above image.
- World of Buxom: See Author Appeal.
