Siegfeld Institute of Music

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/siegfeld_3.png
Another prestigious performing arts school introduced in -Re LIVE- that's reputedly on par with Seisho Music Academy, Siegfeld Institute of Music was founded to educate talented students who have the potential to perform around the world. Thanks to its diverse staff and impressive facilities, Siegfeld is highly regarded as an elite school with more than an impressive reputation.

As part of the school's tradition, it rewards its most talented students with special privileges and bestows upon them the title of "Edel"Translation, which itself is divided into five different subtitles, classified by ranks, all of which are named after jewels.

Led by the current Frau Platin, Akira Yukishiro, these 5 genius actresses all aim to be the elite of the elite in the world of theater.

The Edels

    In General

  • The Ace: Like Seisho Music Academy, Siegfeld is an elite school that houses geniuses who are talented in all areas of Revue. The 5 chosen students participating in the Auditions in -Re LIVE- — collectively known as the "Edels" as an acknowledgement of their talents and merits — are considered to be the best of the best.
  • The Beautiful Elite: The Edels are the top students of Siegfeld and all five girls are very good looking to say the least.
  • Breakout Character: They're the first of the three non-Seisho schools in -Re LIVE- to have a stage play centered on them as the protagonists, just after Seiran got their own not too long ago.
  • Coat Cape: Like Seisho, they wear coats on their shoulders with their stage combat outfits, though they're worn properly on both shoulders and the coats themselves are far more elaborate.
  • Elevator School: The school has divisions for middle and high school. Shiori and the five students introduced in -The LIVE Edel- Delight are enrolled in the former, while the other Edels are enrolled in the latter.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: All of the Edels have hordes of female admirers, both within and outside Siegfeld.
  • Foil: To the 99th Class of Seisho Music Academy. Both groups are renowned students of prestigious all-girls performing arts schools in Japan and both even have annual productions of a special theatrical play that's unique to and traditionally performed in their academies. However, whereas the Seisho students view each other as equals despite acknowledging that Maya is their school's best student, the Edels see Akira as their "king",aka, a paragon who's unmatched in terms of talent, and is put on a pedestal by the younger Edels as well as the rest of the student body. The Edels are also composed of two second years and three underclassmen in their lineup, whereas the 99th Class of Seisho are all classmates in the same year.
    • As the main pair of their school, Akira and Michiru also serve as this to Karen and Hikari, who are also childhood friends who made a promise to stand on stage together in a playground, right down to being inspired by a special play that's performed annually in their present schools. The main difference between them and the two main leads of Seisho however, is that instead of just wanting to be onstage together, Michiru makes an additional promise of becoming the best support Akira could ever have, so that the latter can become the best "king" and Frau Platin in Siegfeld's history. Akira and Michiru have also been together for a long time since their childhood, unlike Karen and Hikari, who were separated for years and have only recently reunited in high school.
  • Gratuitous German: The name of their school, their collective name as a group, and their own designated titles are all in German.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: In The Dying King and the Four Knights, Akira and Michiru were made to forget about the disappeared Yachiyo, Mei Fan, and Shiori in a stage where the three younger Edels didn't exist, paralleling what happened to Seisho when Maya mysteriously vanished in the previous chapter.
  • Metallic Motifs: Their ranks are based on metal and precious gems. As Siegfeld's best student, Akira is given the rank of Frau Platin, the highest rank awarded to the student who is considered to be the #1 in Siegfeld.
  • Origins Episode: The 8th Main Story, The Dying King and the Four Knights, is one big flashback to Akira and Michiru's childhood, which reveals their motivations and ambitions as Stage Girls, as well as how Mei Fan got chosen as Frau Rubin some time prior to the game's plot.
  • Platinum Makes Everything Shinier: For Siegfeld students, especially the Edels, the platinum is a symbol of their high standards and a representation of being above excellence. As stage girls who want to be the best of the best, they won't just settle for gold but for something even higher. This is reflected in both the Edels' stage lines as well as their song, Platinum Forte.
The place we made it to is the dazzling stage
This is the position where royalty stands
Stronger than forte, more refined than elegante
    Platinum lives in our hearts
  • Ret-Gone: Just like Maya, the Korosu's antics cause Yachiyo, Mei Fan, and Shiori to seemingly disappear from existence in Chapter 8, and any memory associated with the three are similarly gone as well.

    Akira Yukishiro

Akira Yukishiro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akira_yukishiro_revue_outfit_1.png
Portrayed by: Hotaru Nomoto
"The fire of life may last but a moment,
But pure platinum will shine forever.
The stage of men may last but a moment,
But the stage of the king lasts forever.
Frau Platin— Akira Yukishiro!
The king shines his light on the hollow stage!"

A stage girl who aims for perfection without compromise. She is considered a genius among geniuses among the students of Siegfeld and stands at the top of her school as their best and most talented student. Her desire for perfection onstage leads her into getting into conflict with the people around her but her overwhelming ability forces them to yield to her anyway. As Siegfeld's top student, she is given the title of "Frau Platin", the highest title to ever be bestowed to a student in the school among the Edels.

  • The Ace: She's Siegfeld Institute of Music's top student, and is a known genius considered head and shoulders above everyone in her school for her excellence on the stage. Not only that, she's also one of the very few people capable of pushing even Maya back in the Auditions. A Memoir and a later event reveal that she's an exceptionally talented figure skating champion too.
  • Affectionate Nickname: In the past, Michiru used to call her "Akki" when they were younger.
  • Animal Motifs: Lions. She's symbolically referred to as the Edels' "king", which is a position usually associated to lions; is prideful, domineering yet charismatic among her peers, and is ultimately considered formidable as a Stage Girl thanks to her overwhelming talents. Her lance's hilt is even shaped in the form of a golden lion. In one of Akira's Bond Stories, Mei Fan took note of this motif and deliberately picked a lion sticker to represent Akira because of this.
  • Berserk Button: If you're Fumi, don't EVER mention the word "Edels" in front of her face.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Towards Shiori, who she has a soft spot for. While she usually puts on the veneer of being a strict senior to her, it's made very clear early on that she looks out for her the most out of everyone.
  • Birds of a Feather: Unsurprisingly, with her fellow prodigy, Maya Tendo. After both got reprimanded by Kiryuuin-sensei in the "Arise All You Sons: Healing Hearts" event story, they both agree that getting yelled at like that was for the best and that they have much to learn and improve on from it and quickly bond from there, each giving the other tips and feedback to help with their performances. It's clear that the two rival aces have deep mutual respect for one another from this.
  • Book Smart: Mei Fan mentions in a My Theater line that Akira excels in academics. This is unsurprising given her status as a genius and as Siegfeld's top student, so grades are just one of the many things she happens to excel at.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't hold back when it comes to critiquing performances. If she thinks your performance isn't up to par, she won't hesitate to tell you that you suck and to get out because you're completely wasting her time to your face.
  • Canon Immigrant: She makes her first live stageplay debutnote  as a major supporting character in the spin-off play Blue Glitter, being the first -Re LIVE- character to do so.
  • Childhood Friends: With Michiru, which was confirmed in 8th Main Story chapter, The Dying King and the Four Knights.
  • The Chooser of the One: While all Siegfeld students are freely welcomed to audition for the positions of Frau Rubin, Perle, and Jade, Akira, with some input from Michiru, has the final say on who gets to be chosen in the end.
  • The Comically Serious: At times. Best shown in the Conte mini gag series.
  • Contralto of Strength: She has a distinctly deeper voice compared to most of the cast and is one of the most formidable and talented Stage Girls in the entire franchise.
  • Decomposite Character: She takes up the colder aspects of Maya's character from the original stage play: being the proud, domineering, ruthless, and downright condescending perfectionist ice queen she was in the beginning of the play.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Hilariously, despite being generally blunt towards others, even she can't tell Aruru how terrible her baked goods are.
  • First-Name Basis: She addresses the Edels, and only the Edels, primarily by their first names. Everyone else gets referred to by surname without any honorific whatsoever. It's telling that Akira never calls Fumi by first name to her face despite Fumi being a former Edel herself.
  • Foil: To Michiru and Fumi. While Michiru passes up her shot at becoming Frau Platin early on and Fumi is simply unable to handle the pressure of being an Edel, Akira takes on the role despite its heavy demands. Also to underdog Tamao, who Akira quickly grows to respect when she Takes a Level in Badass.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Seisho's Maya Tendo, her equal as a Stage Girl.
  • Graceful Loser: She's proud of her skills and is confident in the way she does things, but is quick to admit when someone else does something better. She just chalks these up as learning experiences and vows to do better next time.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: She has a soft spot for dogs but prefers not to be open about it to anyone except maybe Michiru.
  • Hopeless with Tech: She's a bit old-fashioned, so even something as simple as a small change in desktop settings can throw her off.
  • Ice Queen: Though respected, her perfectionism onstage makes her downright cold and domineering towards others. Not helped at all by her very unfriendly attitude.
  • Jerkass: She's cold and condescending towards students who don't meet her very high standards. And even if you do, she'll only treat you slightly less cold than the rest and would have nothing but harsh words in store for you if you can't keep up. To name a few instances, she talks down to Tamao in their Revue and the New Year's event, she dismisses Shiori catching a cold despite Mei Fan's objections, and was the one behind the cold response to Frontier's offer for them to watch their Captain Twins play (as Michiru and Shiori were open to the idea when they were asked later). There's also how she openly disparages and insults Fumi in front of Siegfeld's entire student body (which Fumi's younger sister Shiori is a part of, meaning she heard her school's top student lambast her older sister in front of everyone) in a speech calling for a new Frau Jade at the beginning of Siegfeld's School Story (though Fumi was no longer around to hear it). But as it turns out...
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She genuinely wants to see her fellow Edels improve as Stage Girls and helps them do just that in spite of her cold demeanor. The "heart of gold" part of her shines best whenever she's around Shiori, who she has a soft spot for. An in-game monologue she has in -Re LIVE- also has her admit that while she's disappointed and somewhat hates Fumi for not living up to her skills and "running away" from the stage when she was still Frau Jade, she's also glad that Fumi returned to it and found her brilliance once again in Rinmeikan. Even after the revelations about Elle and the terrible power of the Elle Note, she stands with the other girls in refusing to destroy it, seeing all the books on the shelves around them as "full of stories [they] hadn't done yet."
  • Jousting Lance: Her primary weapon in the Auditions.
  • Last-Name Basis: With everyone who isn't an Edel.
  • The Leader: As the school's official top student, she's effectively the head of the Edels and they all defer to her leadership.
  • Lonely at the Top: She's isolated from the others not just because of her overwhelming talents, but because of her aloof and downright cold personality. Like Maya, she sees this as being an inevitable part of being the Top Star.
  • Meaningful Name: Her surname, "Yukishiro", contains the kanji for "snow", reflecting ice-cold personality.
  • Mirror Character:
    • To Maya. Both are the Top Stars of their respective schools and are initially heavy believers in their schools' strict hierarchies before being beaten by Karen and Hikari in revues (Maya in Episode 10's Revue of Fate, Akira in the Revue of Orion).
    • To Yachiyo. Despite being outwardly pretty different, both are extraordinarily skilled, fascinated with the more outlandish possibilities of performing, and prone to getting possessed by the roles they take on. Dying King 4-2 makes this clear; Michiru calls them "stage-crazy", a term she'd reserved primarily for Akira before then, and Akira says that she "used to be like [Yachiyo]" and considers Yachiyo to be a potential successor.
  • My Greatest Failure: Despite her tough front, she sincerely admits that Fumi's sudden decision to quit as both an Edel and a student of Siegfeld was partly her fault and that she believes she failed her as her leader as she was unable to be there for her old friend during her troubled times when Fumi was still Frau Jade.
  • Not So Above It All: See her behavior for the entirety of Conte Starlight. Despite her no nonsense personality, she's just as capable of being just as quirky as everyone else is and probably even more in the right occasion.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Almost never smiles. The few times she does, it's with a hint of smug confidence.
  • Platinum Makes Everything Shinier: She has the rank of Frau Platin, the highest rank attained among the school's elite Edels, and her skills onstage back up her status. True to the trope name, her other duty as Frau Platin is to ensure that the other Edels shine even brighter than before every time they're onstage.
  • She Is the King: As Frau Platin, she's usually referred to as the Edels' "king", in part due to her titular role in the story of The Dying King and the Four Knights.
  • Student Council President: Her position in Siegfeld due to her status as the top student there.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She's frosty by default, but will occasionally show her more tender side to the Edels during her softer moments. This is more apparent whenever she's around Shiori and Michiru.
  • Talented, but Trained: As a perfectionist, she doesn't let her pride in her own talents blind her to the reality that her abilities need hard work to supplement them until they're fully polished. She makes it a point to the rest of the Edels that just because they were all chosen for their talents doesn't mean that they should all be satisfied with just that without further practice.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She absolutely loves spicy food.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: She was a whole lot more cheerful and openly sweet as a child in flashbacks. Years of pushing herself to strive for perfection in her craft and her single-minded determination to be Top Star no matter what turned her into a cold, ruthless ice queen in the present. However, her sweet personality as a child is still there in spite of it: it's just hidden underneath layers of ice that you simply need to dig up from her.
  • Worthy Opponent: She has very high standards, and is quick to dismiss anyone who seemingly doesn't meet them. Anyone who does however is on her radar just as quickly, seen when she notices and comments on Karen's potential within seconds of meeting her in a Revue.

    Michiru Otori

Michiru Otori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/michiru_otori_revue_outfit.png
Portrayed by: Yuka Ozaki
"What shines doesn't know shade.
What is pure doesn't know pain.
Hence my blue flame will shine on the throne of platinum
And illuminate the stage of the king.
Frau Saphir— Michiru Otori!
Together with the king!"

A friendly stage girl who is always seen with Akira. Though her singing, dancing, and acting abilities are all on par with Akira, she's satisfied with just being her #2 despite also aiming to be the Top Star like her. Her sociability and friendliness have made her popular in school. As one of Siegfeld's elite Edels, she is given the title of "Frau Saphir".
  • The Ace: Together with Akira, she's considered a genius in the world of the stage and is the only one in Siegfeld who's capable of keeping up with her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Akira used to call her "Micchi" in their childhood days.
  • Animal Motifs: Squirrels. Like the rodent, Michiru is cute and small, but cunning, resourceful, and has good foresight to plan ahead and make preparations for the future. Squirrels are also known to be social creatures in tightly-knit communities, which reflects Michiru's friendly, sociable nature, and her status as the Edels' Team Mom.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: As Akira's equal, she's not someone you should take lightly during the Auditions in spite of her friendly attitude.
  • BFS: Her main weapon in the Auditions is a German greatsword. It's even bigger than she is!
  • The Chessmaster: Michiru's supposed cheery disposition as Akira's second-in-command deliberately hides her true nature as a ruthless, albeit well-intentioned, manipulating schemer working behind the scenes to ensure that the Edels, particularly Akira, get to be the ones on top in the world of the performing arts. She uses her friendly charm to befriend and get close to the Stage Girls from the other schools to get intel out of them and uses that information for her own purposes (whether or not she'll use that information against them has yet to be seen), and plans simple yet effective events to get the results she wants out of the situation in front of her. As part of her childhood promise with Akira, she will accomplish her goals of putting the Edels at the helm no matter what dirty trick she has to resort to in her book.
  • Childhood Friends: With Akira, a fact that was only heavily implied prior to The Dying King and the Four Knights Main Story Chapter, which confirms their relationship.
  • Cool Big Sis: Serves as one to her underclassmen in Siegfeld.
  • The Creon: By all accounts, Michiru has both the potential and the capacity to be Frau Platin herself, as her intelligence, charisma, and talents are closely on par with Akira's. However, she's fully satisfied with her current position as both Frau Saphir and as Akira's right-hand woman, as she sees it as her personal duty to support Akira's ambitions and making her Top Star since their childhood.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: She has the potential to be Siegfeld's Top Star together with Akira and her talents are said to be on par with hers, but keeps her true potential in wraps and only uses her skills when absolutely needed in favor of supporting and nurturing her fellow Edels' talents in the background in the guise of being another one of Akira's loyal fans.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Delivers a quick, decisive victory over Fumi to show her that she means business while she breaks the latter down and calls her out on her self-destructive methods during their revue together, leaving Fumi shaken the entire time while Michiru barely broke a sweat.
  • Devoted to You: She's been Akira's most devoted friend since their childhood days. She even made a vow as a child to ensure that Akira would be the best Stage Girl there ever was by acting as her loyal support on the stage instead of shining together with her, sacrificing her chance at becoming Top Star herself for the sake of Akira's dreams.
  • Foil:
    • To Nana. Both are blondes, bright and cheery, are always looking after their friends' welfares like mothers, and possess enough talent that can potentially surpass their schools' official aces: Akira for Michiru, and Maya for Nana respectively, yet purposely hold back because they're satisfied with where they currently stand. But that's where their similarities stop. Michiru is the shortest among the Edels whereas Nana is the tallest of her classmates. While they're both chessmasters in their own right, their motivations for being one differ greatly: Michiru wants to see the Edels, Akira especially, grow and further improve to be the greatest Stage Girls they can be, while Nana actively tried to hinder her friends' growths via her wish to loop time from the moment they were all still first years due to a combination of not wanting to see her friends end up hurt from the pain of failing, and because of how much she cherishes her friends due to her lonely background. Whereas Michiru's friendly and sunny disposition is a partial facade, Nana's friendliness is genuine, although she's not above using a more ruthless demeanor when needed.
    • To Shiori. While Shiori focuses on goals in the present, Michiru thinks too far ahead into the future, which causes her to surrender in their Main Story 14 revue.
  • Genki Girl: She puts on an air of cheeriness around herself to brighten up people's moods in lieu of the Edels' decidedly cold leader. It's because of this that she quickly bonds and becomes friends with the similarly cheery Karen, Ichie, and Lalafin.
  • Hidden Depths: She's a big fan of powerful predatory animals and martial arts.
  • Idiot Hair: Subverted; she has a noticeably large strand of hair that constantly sticks up, but she's no idiot, and she's actually very calculating and good at reading people plus she's essentially The Man Behind the Man for the Edels.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While she can be bossy and even intimidating towards Akira, she genuinely does care for her and the rest of the Edels. Her childhood promise of making her the best Frau Platin in Siegfeld's history through her support was made with Akira's dream and well-being in mind.
  • The Lancer: She's Akira's #2 and her most trusted confidant. Ironically, Akira's the one wielding the lance, not her.
  • The Man Behind the Man: While Akira legitimately is the Edels' leader for all intents and purposes and does its functions as one, it's actually Michiru who calls the shots and pulls the strings in the background when it comes to making major decisions that affect the Edels themselves. She has the final say on a majority of Akira's decisions at certain points in specific events and Akira is submissive to her most of the time.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Downplayed. While not exactly malicious, her cheerful personality hides a very crafty and pragmatic individual underneath. Only Akira is privy to this side of her however, while Yachiyo has her suspicions.
  • Older Than They Look: It's easy to mistake her for a kid, especially since her peers are taller than her, but she's actually Akira's age and is in the same year as her, meaning the other three Siegfeld students, two of whom are in their first year and the last of which is in her third year in middle school, are younger than her.
  • Only Friend: As her best friend for the longest time, she's initially this to Akira, as Akira's aloof and domineering personality as well as her incredibly high standards would cause an inevitable wall to form between her and other students aside from Michiru. As the game's story goes on however, Akira's bonds with the other Edels as well as with the Stage Girls from the other schools continue to grow even mending her bridges with Fumi who she had some beef with prior in a certain event, so Michiru no longer qualifies as the only friend Akira has anymore.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She's one of the shortest characters in the franchise, but her talents are on par with Akira's, one of the very few people who can rival Maya on stage.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: She's cunning and somewhat ruthless, but she's ultimately this as everything she does is for her friends' sakes and is a genuinely pleasant individual to the others so long as you're not pushing her buttons.
  • Team Mom: To the Edels. She cares for and looks after them and helps them further improve themselves as Stage Girls through her insight. It helps that she's more approachable and openly friendly compared to Akira.
  • Trauma Button: The "Ice Skating Noblesse Oblige" event story reveals that figure skating, particularly, performing a fall, is one for her, thanks to a childhood incident where Akira was injured protecting her from crashing onto a wall when Michiru lost her balance trying to skate, which Michiru blames herself for. It made her completely quit figure skating after that and only comes back to it because she has to for an important performance where she's one of the lead roles. It's because of this that she continually has problems performing an important fall she has to do for a certain scene in spite of numerous practice. Thankfully, Akira helps her overcome it by the end of the event.

    Liu Mei Fan

Liu Mei Fan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meifan_liu_revue_outfit.png
Portrayed by: Yume Takeuchi
"O absolute ruler,
I have traveled a thousand miles and finally met you.
I have found my stage.
My ruby is hidden in the dragon's chest.
O noble platinum, I offer my life to you.
Frau Rubin— Liu Mei Fan!
Ranshao ba jinqing re yan, wangdao dang dang! Translation"

A stage girl from China. She's a known actress back in her hometown and transfers to Siegfeld Music Institute to expand and further develop her talents. She's polite and is a good upperclassman at heart, but is aware that Akira is a hurdle she must overcome. She takes fortune telling as a hobby, but since the misfortunes and jinxes she predicts always come true no matter what she doesn't get to do it much anymore recently. She is given the title of "Frau Rubin" among Siegfeld's Edels.
  • Anime Chinese Girl: Downplayed. She knows martial arts and has a prominent dragon motif going on with her, but otherwise she doesn't follow most of the trope's stereotypes as she's very fluent in Japanese and was even annoyed when Yachiyo kept pestering her about putting her hair up in twin buns. However, she does invoke it in one of her units in the game, complete with a qipao and the aforementioned hair buns.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Before she eventually earned the position of Frau Rubin, she was a massive Akira fangirl who went out of her way to study in Siegfeld and learn Japanese just to be able to stand on the same stage as her idol, Akira. She even used to call her "Akira-sama" before she toned the honorific down to just "-san".
  • Berserk Button: Deception, according to her profile.
  • Big Sister Instinct: When Shiori gets a fever during the "Siegfeld General Hospital" event in -Re LIVE-, Mei Fan's instincts as an older sister herself kick in and she spends an entire chapter in the event doting on the sick Shiori and caring for her needs, to the point of being too overbearing on the poor unsuspecting girl.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She's jealous of the amount of attention Shiori gets from Akira every now and then.
  • Foil:
    • To Yachiyo. Mei Fan is incredibly lively and straightforward, while Yachiyo largely prefers to keep to herself and enjoys misdirection. Despite how different they are in how they handle pretty much everything, they clearly recognize each other's strengths. An example on Mei Fan's end can be found in Little Match Girl Yachiyo Bond Story 2:
Mei Fan: (I chose to make the contrast between desperation and hope very clear, but she [Yachiyo] decided to blur the two together...)
Mei Fan: (The sense of realism that is portrayed by the suffering girl watching a happy vision directly touches the heart of the audience...)
Mei Fan: (We may have each used different approaches and showed our unique styles, but...she completely outmatched me!)
  • Foreign Exchange Student: She's a Chinese student studying in Japan's prestigious Siegfeld Institute of Music.
  • Fortune Teller: Her main hobby is fortune telling, but since only the bad fortunes she predicts come true, her friends nowadays avoid having their fortunes told by her.
  • Genki Girl: She gets energetic and easily excitable whenever acting and Akira are concerned.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Deeply admires Akira and aims to surpass her one day.
  • Otaku: She collects capsule toys and plays gacha games as her hobbies.
  • Plucky Girl: Failure doesn't stop this girl; if anything, it only makes her even more resolute to succeed than ever before. As shown in her flashback chapter in The Dying King and the Four Knights, despite being repeatedly rejected by both Akira and Michiru when she voiced out her desire to be one of Akira's chosen Edels, Mei Fan was nonetheless determined to join them and continuously kept proving to them that she was worthy until she could earn Akira's approval. Her passionate persistence eventually won them over.
  • Running Gag: In the "Waltz with the Beautiful Beast" event, the Edels find themselves temporarily taking care of a lost chihuahua they dub Belle. Mei Fan soon becomes very attached to Belle, and Michiru remarks, "She's going to be bawling when it comes time to give it back to its owner." Not only does Mei Fan indeed cry when returning Belle, the mere mention of Belle in later conversations always makes her tear up.
  • Serious Business: As a result of idolizing Akira, she takes being an Edel seriously and does not appreciate it if either Yachiyo or Shiori fail to uphold the ideals of being one. Best shown during Siegfeld and Seisho's exchange program in the "Detective Karen on the Case" event.
  • Token Minority: While Claudine and Lalafin are both half-European, Mei Fan is the first, and so far, only, character in the franchise to be of pure Chinese descent in a cast full of Japanese girls.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She expresses disapproval and annoyance over Yachiyo's sly and lax behavior but otherwise gets along with her as a friend.

    Shiori Yumeoji

Shiori Yumeoji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shiori_yumeoji_revue_outfit.png
Portrayed by: Hikaru Tōno
"The flower bud unfolds to show the path of platinum.
The letter drenched in tears.
Secretly depart on the jade road of dreams.
Frau Jade— Shiori Yumeoji!
We shall conquer the king's summit together!"

A third year from Siegfeld's middle school department and Fumi's younger sister. She used to be sickly often due to her weak body and was unable to attend many lessons previously as a result. However, she distinguishes herself from most stage girls by being able to overcome her health problems and quickly catch up with the others in spite of this. During Siegfeld's School Story, she is the latest addition to the school's elite Edels and is designated the title of "Frau Jade" after its previous title holder left the position sometime prior.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Just like the Seisho girls, she's ruder and meaner than she actually is in canon in Shoujo Conte All Starlight.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Yuyuko calls her "Shiorin".
  • All Girls Like Ponies: She loves horses. One of her hobbies is horseback riding, and when she thinks about which character she would like to be in a Romance of the Three Kingdoms-based play, she picks Red Hare, Lu Bu's horse, over any of the human characters.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's initially the youngest Revue Starlight character in the entire franchise before the 5-year-old Elle Nishino is revealed in Main Story 11, Playwriter Stage Girl, being only in her final year of middle school while everyone else is in high school. Several other characters tend to be rather doting towards her as a result. However, with the later introductions of Seisho's Sakura Yanagi and Siegfeld's junior high schoolers in the franchise, it's possible that she may no longer be the youngest Stage Girl in the series anymore.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Whenever she stops being timid, she's actually a force to be reckoned with when she performs confidently onstage. She manages to impress and take Claudine, Mahiru, and Karen by complete surprise with her stunning Irene Adler impression during their role call in the "Detective Karen on the Case" event story in -Re LIVE-.
  • Big Sister Worship: She adored Fumi in the past and wanted to do nothing more than to be able to stand beside her on the stage together. When Fumi left Siegfeld without speaking a single word to her as to why, Shiori is left hurt and wondering over what had happened for Fumi to do so.
  • Color Motif: Like Mahiru and her older sister Fumi, she's associated with the color green. Her revue outfit has shades of green in it, she's currently the holder of the Frau Jade position among the Edels, a title that's based on the jade which is a shade of green, and she was even formerly sickly for a while in the past. In a bit of a play on this however, she firmly does not hold any feelings of jealousy for any reason unlike Mahiru and Fumi towards her older sister in spite of her desires to surpass Fumi as the new Frau Jade and merely seeks to constantly improve herself under Akira's tutelage for the chance to see her again.
  • Cool Sword: Wields a sabre in the Auditions.
  • Covert Pervert: She gets incredibly excited at seeing Mei Fan and Yachiyo getting up close and romantic with each other while they're acting out their roles as Lu Bu and Diaochan (a well-known couple from their source material) respectively during Diaochan Yachiyo's 2nd Bond Episode.
  • Delicate and Sickly: She was very sickly when she was younger, to the point that she was unable to attend a lot of classes in the past due to this. The fact that she was able to overcome this and immediately do more than catch up with and surpass her classmates in skill and hard work is what makes her remarkable and more than qualified to be among the Edels in Siegfeld.
  • Determinator: Shiori's meek demeanor belies an iron-willed girl who absolutely refuses to back down from a challenge presented to her and will work ten times harder than before just to achieve her goals. Even her sickly body in the past wasn't enough to stop her from pursuing her dreams of becoming the Top Star.
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: Being the youngest out of all the girls in the game makes everyone around her want to look after her, with some of the girls (particularly Tsukasa, Akira, Yachiyo, Mei Fan, and Mahiru) being doting towards her as a result.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's sweet, gentle, and polite towards everyone, and though Fumi's sudden departure from Siegfeld and avoidance of her obviously hurt her whenever she's brought up, Shiori nonetheless still worries over her well-being and wants to see her again.
  • It's All My Fault: She believes she has something to do with Fumi suddenly transferring out of Siegfeld due to Fumi refusing to explain why and Fumi's conscious efforts to distance herself from Shiori after it happened. Downfall reveals that she wasn't too off the mark, though the actual reasons are a lot more complicated than she thinks.
  • Meaningful Name: Her first name, "Shiori"(栞), means "bookmark", as in, she's the "bookmark" Fumi left behind in Siegfeld after the latter ran away from her responsibilities as the original Frau Jade. True to her name, as Fumi's successor, Shiori has to continue where Fumi left off while forging a new, different path for herself as a Stage Girl and as Frau Jade.
  • Morality Pet: Akira has a big soft spot for her, so much so that when Michiru noticed, she had to outright tell Akira to simmer the kindness down a little as she was starting to give Shiori preferential treatment over the other Edels.
  • Nice Girl: While shy, she's a kind sweetheart to everyone she meets.
  • Proper Lady: Her likes and hobbies include horseback riding and tea time, pointing her to this trope. Even her favorite foods, black tea and chiffon cake, are pretty fancy all on their own.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's shy and softspoken compared to her peers.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Wants to get out of Fumi's shadow in Siegfeld and surpass her as the new Frau Jade after her, though it's unclear if Fumi feels the same way towards her younger sister in the present.
  • Sickly Prodigy: Shiori's had a frail body since childhood and can get sick if she pushes herself too hard, but her talents as a Stage Girl can rival and even potentially surpass those of her more experienced seniors.
  • Stepford Smiler: Hides her loneliness and frustration over Fumi's sudden departure underneath her gentle smiles.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She's basically a mini Fumi, though Shiori's larger, more innocent-looking eyes help set her apart from her sister.
  • Stronger Sibling: Despite being more of a Shrinking Violet than Fumi, she's actually the more talented of the two, and Fumi's jealousy of her younger sister is part of the reason she stepped down as Frau Jade and transferred to Rinmeikan. This is proven true in the live version of the Gemini Revue, where Shiori was easily pushing Fumi back in the beginning of the revue and would have quickly won against her had Claudine not have been there to intervene.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Her favorite pastime is drinking tea during her breaks and she frequently brings a tea set with her to share with her friends for casual conversations.
  • Unknown Rival: She's unaware of Mei Fan's jealousy of her whenever Akira pays more attention to her than she does to Mei Fan. She was also similarly clueless over Fumi's jealousy of her in the past back when the latter was still Frau Jade, though she has her suspicions.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: In The Dying King and the Four Knights, she confesses to Akira that Fumi's sudden departure and refusal to talk to her after that have made her angry at her older sister for abandoning her just like that when she was worried about her all this time, even calling Fumi an idiot for doing so in front of Akira, who agrees. She later gets the chance to directly call out Fumi on this in the Revue of Gemini, with Claudine mediating for the two sisters.
Going on stage together with my older sister who betrayed Siegfeld…!?
  • You Remind Me of X: Seeing Shiori sick in bed reminds Mei Fan of her younger sisters back in China (particularly the times they got sick), causing Mei Fan's big sister instincts to kick into full gear towards Shiori as a result.

    Yachiyo Tsuruhime

Yachiyo Tsuruhime

Portrayed by: Haruka Kudō
"Forever and ever, I have performed by myself.
Polished a lonesome pearl.
Beyond the borders of the stage, beyond the play.
That is where true platinum shines.
Frau Perle— Yachiyo Tsuruhime!
This world is a stage. Even the king is a player!"

A mischievous and oftentimes mysterious stage girl who seems to know everything but doesn't let anyone know anything about her. She rarely if ever shows her true self and loves to say provoking words to Akira and Meifan. She loves making clothes and sewing, and dreams of one day becoming the Top Star while standing onstage with the clothes she made herself. She is given the title of "Frau Perle" among Siegfeld's Edels.

  • All the Other Reindeer: The Dying King and the Four Knights reveals that Yachiyo was isolated from most people in the past because of her imaginative roleplaying hobbies. Thanks to this, she used to always feel alone and unwelcome with others before becoming one of the Edels in Siegfeld in the present day.
  • Ambiguous Situation: In The Dying King and the Four Knights, it's ambiguous whether she actually had an older sister named Chitose Tsuruhime or if she just made her up like she made up the rest of her role as a spy for an enigmatic board of directors.
    • Cleared up in her Fool Yachiyo bond stories, where it's revealed that Chitose is indeed imaginary, though she is very real to Yachiyo.
  • Bows Versus Crossbows: Her primary weapon in the Auditions is a crossbow. Fitting, considering her sneaky attitude and her status as one of the talented elite in Siegfeld, a contrast to the hardworking and straightforward Junna who wields a bow in combat.
  • The Fashionista: She takes up sewing and dressmaking as a hobby because of this.
  • The Gadfly: She's mischievous and loves teasing others around her.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In Diaochan Yachiyo's first Bond Story, she vehemently denies being some sort of seductress like her character, Diaochan, to the player character. Unlock her second Bond Story, however, and she'll give Shiori and Mei Fan this memorable gem after they point out how much the skirt she wore as Diaochan exposed a lot of her skin:
Aw, are you awestruck by my legs?
  • Imaginary Friend: Revealed in Fool Yachiyo Bond Story 1 that Chitose is this for Yachiyo.
  • The Mole: She was assigned by Siegfeld's board of directors to keep tabs on her fellow Edels. Subverted as she made all that up as part of a role play.
  • Ms. Imagination: Revealed in Main Story 8 4-2 that her whole life, she's daydreamed a lot and frequently makes up roles for herself to play as such as being a spy for "The Board of Commissions". According to Akira, this makes her a worthy candidate to be the next Frau Platin once she steps down from the position.
  • Only Sane Woman: Serves as this ironically in Shoujo Conte All Starlight during the episodes that feature Siegfeld in it.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Her default expression is a mischievous and sly smile, highlighting her shifty and playful personality.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her hair and image color is pink and she's likely the most feminine character of the cast.
  • Quit Your Whining: She harshly rebukes Tsukasa during the "Arise All You Sons: Healing Hearts" event story for being incredibly half-hearted about her role as the main lead, Sachi, and wanting to step down from the play due to disagreeing with the play's general direction in the plot out of concern for how the disabled kids they were going to perform it to would react. This is also notably the first time Yachiyo has openly displayed genuine anger at someone, albeit one done out of a desire to help push Tsukasa out of her hesitation. As the end of the chapter shows, it worked.
In that case, step down from the role immediately. Everyone did the audition because they wanted to play the lead and stand at Position Zero. The chosen cast members are facing the rehearsals knowing they could get yelled at. Everyone is prepared to get hurt for this performance! If you're not up for it, then don't stand on the stage!
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She's not afraid to flaunt a little skin in some of the outfits that she makes and wears. She'll even tease you, the player character, for it in her birthday line for you:
Oh my, if it isn't the star of the day! How about a coupon for a day with me as a birthday present?
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She may tease Mei Fan a lot and loves setting off her buttons but gets along well with her fine anyway.
  • Willfully Weak: Fool Intermission reveals that Yachiyo has been suppressing her immense amount of talent in acting in order to better fit what she believes to be her role in life and help create what she believes to be the best stage. Drops this act during her revue with Mei Fan and Akira, where she decides that she wants to see what unknown possibilities could occur if she showed off her true skills.
