A martial artist kidnapped by Crown and converted into one of their cyborgs. Through his cybernetics and the Fallah in his body, Gou can transform into Guyferd.
  • Big Brother Worship: Looks up to his older brother Masato a whole lot.
  • Big Little Brother: He is considerably taller than Masato.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Even before he was turned into a Cyborg, he was already a skilled martial artist.
  • Henshin Hero: In classic Toku hero fashion, he transforms by striking a flashy pose.
  • The Hero: The title character and the main person fighting against Crown.
  • The Hero Dies: Possibly. He's last seen throwing himself on the Gaia Net and causing it to explode, though we don't actually see for certain if the explosion claimed him.
  • Ki Manipulation: With his Ken'nou-ryu training, Gou can channel the Ki in his body to perform energy attacks.
  • Martial Pacifist: Shown several times refusing to fight, especially in earlier episodes. He is still a powerful martial artist through and through.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Starts out a karate practitioner, then got exposed to Fallah during his backpacking in Peru, then became a cyborg, then that Fallah fused with his cyborg body giving him a new form and power as Guyferd.
  • Phlebotinum Rebel: In Kamen Rider fashion, he was kidnapped by Crown and converted into a supersoldier, only to escape and dedicate himself to fighting against them.
  • Transformation Trinket: One of the notable aversion in Toku series, as he transforms without any item.
  • Unwilling Roboticisation: Got turned into Guyborg against his will. Episode 2 even deal with his angst over this, thinking that he is no longer human.

The daughter of the head of the Kujou Zaibatsu and a friend of Gou.
  • Action Girl: She may not be a cyborg, but she can definitely hold her own with her karate training. Much more so after Shiroishi gives her the Power Accelator Boots.
  • Kick Chick: Her fighting style mainly use kicks. She even got the boots part of the Power Accelerator developed by Shiroishi.
  • Tsundere: She acts aloof to Gou initially, often getting annoyed when he acts laidback, though warms up to him after she learns he's Guyferd.

Rei's kid brother and a computer whiz, despite his age.
  • Child Prodigy: Very knowledgeable when it comes to computers.
  • The Cracker: Often uses his knowledge of computers to hack into things and gather information.
  • Genius Bruiser: Just as skilled in karate as he is with computers. In fact, he is already a Black Belt at such a young age.
  • Tagalong Kid: He's still in middle school, but tags along with Gou and the others. It helps that he is not helpless kid, he even escaped from Crown's captivity without relying on Gou or his sister twice.
    Detective Nakano

Detective Yuji Nakano

Portrayed by: Toshio Tomogane

A police detective who begins helping Gou after discovering the existence of Crown.
  • Back for the Finale: Gets wounded in episode 15 and drops out of action, but heals just in time to help the heroes in the final episode.
  • Badass Normal: He's not a cyborg, nor does he have any kind of superpowers, but he can tussle with Fangs all on his own.
  • Cowboy Cop: Determined to keep investigating Crown, even if his police station doesn't believe in them.
    Masato Kazama/Deathferd

Masato Kazama/Deathferd

Portrayed by: Shigeaki Kano

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masato_kazama_ep24.jpg
Gou's older brother who went missing at the start of the series. He was really kidnapped by Crown and converted into a Guyborg, later being turned into Deathferd as a counter to Guyferd.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: As the sibling and black-armored rival of the hero, he might seem like a Darth Vader expy, but he's actually more similar to both Hakaider and Shadow Moon of Toei Company.
  • The Atoner: By the time he returns, he regrets letting his envy and insecurity get the better of him, and wants to make up for it by helping Gou stop Crown.
  • Cain and Abel: Became envious of Gou when his karate skill began to rival his own, leading him to challenge Gou to a fight as Deathferd later on.
  • Dark Is Evil: Has black armor and is Gou's dark rival. Becomes the other side of this trope when he turns good.
  • Easily Forgiven: Gou and his friends accept him with open arms when he returns, even though he tried to kill Gou in their last encounter. Justified as Gou still looks up to him and he saved Rei and Yuu from Crown in his return.
  • Not Quite Dead: Presumed dead when he walks inside Crown's base before it explodes, but resurfaces later on to help Gou against the Gaia Plan.
  • Uncertain Doom: He's last seen holding up a pillar so Gou can get through and destroy the Gaia Net, with no indication about whether he got out before it exploded. He has a marginally better chance at surviving than Gou, at least.

Crown

    In General
A global crime organization posing as an independent research center, with the goal of using science to create an army of super-soldiers to use to conquer the world.
  • Create Your Own Hero: They kidnapped Gou to convert him into one of their Guyborgs, giving him a cybernetic infusion that enabled him to become Guyferd by synthesizing it with the Fallah he had absorbed earlier.
  • Evil Evolves: As Crown's research progresses, the monsters they send out keep getting stronger.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: Many of their experiments are aimed at creating a superhuman being that they can mass produce as supersoldiers.

  • Evil Wears Black: Aside from their silver helmets, boots and gloves, they mainly wear black suits.
  • Mooks: Crown's mass-produced grunt force.

A Crown executive in charge of their supersoldier program.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: He seems to be the leader of Crown at first, though by episode 6 he begins dropping hints that there's people above him. It's after his demise that the rest of the organization steps forward.
  • The Heavy: He's the one overseeing Crown's operations, at least for the first quarter of the series.
  • Last Villain Stand: After Guyferd repeatedly defeats their Mutians, Bicross decides to go down fighting him rather rather than be killed for his failure.
  • One-Winged Angel: Injected his body with Fallah to turn himself into a Mutian for his fight with Guyferd.
  • Panthera Awesome: His Mutian form and fighting style is based on mythological White Tiger/Byakko.
  • Paper Tiger: Pun aside, he is greatly outmatched by Guyferd during both of their fights. If not because of Deathferd timely assistance, he will got blown up right in his first fight.
  • Sinister Shades: Wears a pair of black shades, giving him a very unnerving look.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Becomes obsessed with defeating Guyferd after losing his first fight against him.
    Shion

Megumi Shion

Portrayed by: Masako Takeda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metal_shion_ep12.jpg
A researcher in Crown's Fallah division who replaces Shiroishi as head of the project.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Considering she only joined Crown after losing her mother, and she ends up being shot by the same person responsible for her mother's death, it's hard not to pity her.
  • The Baroness: An icy and domineering official of Crown. She becomes this even moreso after becoming Metal Shion.
  • Brain in a Jar: After she's killed, her brain is extracted by Metal Master so it can be used as the nexus for Crown's computer system to spread Fallah.
  • Disney Villain Death: She's seemingly killed when she falls off a cliff in the second arc. Subverted when she comes back as a Cyborg.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: She loved her mother, and losing her was what pushed her into villainy.
  • Evil Genius: As a Crown scientist and the brains behind many of their monsters.
  • Maker of Monsters: The main person responsible for creating Mutians.
  • Purple Is Powerful: After becoming Metal Shion, she mostly wears purple.
  • Redemption Equals Death: It actually happens after she's technically killed, but upon hearing Gou's words about the goodness of humans, she drops the shield around the Fallah system so Gou can destroy it and her spirit lets out a smile towards him.
  • Start of Darkness: She was driven to become evil after her mother died from taking a faulty drug, leading her to join Crown to get revenge on the person who made it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Zodiac and Metal Master use her as a distraction to obtain a substance they need for their big project, intending for her to die so her brain can be used to complete the system.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: After getting injured from falling off a cliff, she's rebuilt as Metal Shion.
    Minoh

Minoh

A researcher in charge of Crown's cyborg soldier division, responsible for the creation of the Guyborgs.
  • Evil Genius: One of the two leading ones in Bicross's cell, as their resident Cyborg expert.
  • Non-Action Guy: He's a scientist, not a fighter, so he doesn't go out into the field.
  • Interservice Rivalry: Has one with Shion, with his cyborg division competing against Shion's Mutians. He's naturally not happy when Bicross states his Guyborgs will be Mooks to the Mutians.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: As his experiments were with cyborgs and not Fallah, he's kept in the dark about Crown's true plans with Fallah and later shot dead by Shion on Zodiac's orders.
  • Only Sane Man: It's Pragmatic Villainy, but he seems to be the only one in Crown who thinks turning people into rampaging monsters with Fallah is a bad idea, namely because they don't make loyal soldiers.
  • Villainous Legacy: His creations (the Guyborgs and Fangs) stick around for far longer than he does.
    Guyborgs

Guyborgs

Cyborg soldiers developed by Minoh's division.
  • Cool Shades: Most Guyborgs wear darkened sunglasses in their human forms.
  • Elite Mooks: Become this retroactively after the mass-produced Fangs after introduced. Unlike the Fangs, which are Cannon Fodder against anyone who's trained in martial arts, a single Guyborg is capable of stalling Guyferd.
    Mutians

Mutians

Monsters created by infusing a human with Fallah.

Jerks

The Mutian who appeared in Episode 1, a mutated form of a man named Taki.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Even before his mutation, Taki is already an unpleasant man who loves to boast his fighting power and calling Gou's brother Masato as a coward. His mutation into Jarks only furthers his already inflated ego.
  • The Berserker: His fighting style as a Mutian relies on brute strength and Ki bolt attack. The moment he awakened as Mutian, he destroyed Crown's laboratory by himself, and wants nothing but to fight.
  • Deal with the Devil: Conspired with Crown to use his Dojo to provide them with manpower, who will be converted into Crown's Guyborgs. Too bad for him, Crown ended up also using him as the guinea pig.
  • Dumb Muscle: Being mutated certainly damaged his intelligence significantly.
  • Meaningful Name: Fits well with his Jerkass personality.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Constantly proclaiming himself as the strongest after his mutation. Unsurprisingly, once Gou transformed in Guyferd, he got destroyed with relatively little effort.
  • Sore Loser: He didn't take being bested by Gou in a fight and humiliated in front of his pupils well, so he conspired with Crown to get rid of him.
  • Underwear of Power: Got stripped of his clothing but his underpants when he was experimented, leaving it as the only clothing in his body after mutation.
  • Was Once a Man: The only Mutian, other than Bicross' mutated form, whose human self was shown.

  • This Cannot Be!: Has this reaction when the Dam-destroying Bomb was defused in-time, allowing Guyferd to destroy him.

Spirass

The female Mutian who appeared in Episode 4.

Antaless

The Mutian who appeared in Episode 5.
  • Boxing Battler: His fighting style is boxing. Even his "pincer" hands somewhat resembles boxing gloves.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Dealing this to a rogue Guyborg who tried to escape after infused by Fallah.
  • Disney Villain Death: Guyferd's Finishing Move caused him to fall off a cliff before exploding.
  • Murder by Mistake: Accidentally blow up the assisting Guyborg who was deployed to capture Gou alive with his Ki attack.
  • Scorpion People: A (presumably) boxer mutated into a Mutian with scorpion-motif.

Guilpulls

Portrayed by: Hideto Shimamura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metal_master_ep15.jpg
An armor-wearing, skull-faced cyborg who gives orders to the Metalferds on Zodiac's behalf.
  • Black Knight: His armor is dark gray, actually, but as a cold and ruthless knight-like warrior he definitely qualifies.
  • The Brute: In addition to leading the Metalferds, he also takes to the field himself whenever extra force is needed.
  • Dem Bones: Has a skull for a face. It's not clear whether it's real or just part of the aesthetic.
  • Sword Beam: Able to launch powerful Ki-powered beam from his sword.
  • The Dragon: He's Zodiac's lieutenant in the second arc, and gives orders to the Metalferds on his behalf.
  • The Heavy: While he reports to Zodiac, he's the main one leading the charge in the second arc.
  • Knight of Cerebus: A quite literal case since he is a knight, but he's a much more dangerous and formidable opponent than those before him. He even almost kill Guyferd in their first fight.
  • The Master: The Metal Master, no less.
    Metalferds

Metalferds

Guyborgs who've undergone a procedure to be exposed to Fallah, turning them into warriors similar to Guyferd.
  • Evil Knockoff: Are created using a similar process to the way Gou gained the power to become Guyferd.
  • Monster of the Week: Taking the baton from the Mutians, the Metalferds are the ones Guyferd has to fight throughout the second arc.
  • Mook Promotion: All of them were originally Guyborgs who were exposed to Fallah to turn them into stronger warriors.

The true leader of Crown.
  • Big Bad: The leader of Crown and mastermind behind their experiments of Fallah, planning to use it to reshape the world.
  • Cool Mask: Wears a very scary looking mask. Why you ask? He looks scarier without it...
  • Evil Is Bigger: Compared to Guyferd and Deathferd, his armor is much beefier and more muscly, making him appear all the more intimidating when he's going up against them.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: He sees humans as inferior and plans to use Fallah to forcibly evolve into beings more to his liking that he can rule over.
  • Kill All Humans: Views humans as stupid and inferior, and plans to either transform or eradicate them depending on what's closer in reach.
  • No One Sees the Boss: He seems to prefer giving orders from afar, mainly communicating to Shion and Metal Master through a bust in their base of operations. It isn't until two-thirds of the way through that we see what he looks like.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: His end plan with the Gaia Net is to use to eradicate every human being on Earth by conjuring a laser storm, making a blank slate for him to create a new species to rule over.
  • Orcus on His Throne: He's handily the most powerful person in Crown and able to beat Guyferd and Deathferd individually, but he prefers to sit back in his lair and let his minions do most of the fighting.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: His hair is one of the few parts of his body that we can see and it's ghastly white.
    Kuzan

Kuzan

  • Mad Scientist: Crown employs a lot of scientists, but he's the only who really qualifies, to the point where he's willing to let everyone be killed just to prove he was right.
  • Taking You with Me: Dies blowing up a section of the base in an attempt to keep Gou and Masato from shutting down the Gaia Net.
  • They Called Me Mad!: His entire reason for helping Zodiac is to get back at the people who doubted his theories on the Gaia Net.
