    Octavio

Octavio Wallace-Dhar

Future mogul (Also You!)

Voiced by: Diego Stredel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_octavio.jpg
Anu's adopted brother. Aspirant to fame and fortune.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Gets distracted by shiny tech and high-class stuff easily. During the assault on Tediore ship's bridge, he gets distracted too many times to count by Caldwell's custom, Eridium-powered ECHOnet device.
  • Continuity Nod: When deciding which will be his last words before facing the Devourer as bait, one of his choices is "No rest for the wicked", after the theme song of Borderlands.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: In one of the game's Multiple Endings, he didn't survive the crash of Tediore's ship, as seen when Anu and Fran deliver flowers to his memorial tomb.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Gets the credits part of the intro, walking from the street, saluting several people, showing how he sees himself as a big name and people pleaser.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After escaping from the Eridian Guardians and discussing the situation, he gets the idea to call Paco's Ratch pet, Juniper, in order to find a safer way into the Promethean Vault.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Foolish Sibling to Anu's Responsible Sibling. For starters, at the beginning of the story she's working for Atlas. This gets deconstructed as the story progresses.
  • Loophole Abuse: During Tediore's invasion of Promethea, he picks up Brock and a communicator from a fallen soldier. He tells L0U13 that "it's not stealing if he's already dead", likely to prevent L0U13 from registering him as a contract that needs to be... fulfilled.
  • Schemer: His goal in life is to become rich and successful despite having no actual skills.
  • The Social Expert: He prides himself on his ability to network with others. In actuality, he's kind of a useless idiot but he does have various contacts and friends with actual useful skills.

    Fran

Francine Miskowicz

Froyo queen (Also You!)

Voiced by: Lucia Frangione
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_fran.jpg
The owner of Fran's Frogurt, Rhys' favorite Frogurt shop which was decimated during Maliwan's invasion of Promethea.
  • Ascended Extra: Fran and her shop were mentioned as a throwaway line in 3 before becoming a protagonist.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Do NOT piss Fran off. The punk who threatened to threaten her for not giving him free frogurt learned this the hard way.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Since her Frogurt shop uses Tediore equipment, that makes her a Tediore client and thus their smart guns can't fire on her. At least until Coldwell openly orders her troops to destroy her equipment.
  • Dirty Old Man: Significantly older than Anu and Octavio, but constantly tries to get them to make out with her (even suggesting a mandatory "Make Out With Your Coworkers Wednesday" after they discuss starting a business together).
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: In one of the game's Multiple Endings, she didn't survive the crash of Tediore's ship, as seen when Anu and Octavio deliver flowers to her memorial tomb.
  • Freeze Ray: Has a freezing ray on her personal vehicle meant for cooling Frogurt that she weaponizes a few times. However, it's also fairly short-ranged, meaning that she has to be close enough to her target in order to actually hit it.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: She has rage issues that causes her to lash out and resort to violence. She tries to manage this with varying results.
  • Handicapped Badass: Fran might be a paraplegic, but she rides a surprisingly heavily-armed hoverchair and can be surprisingly strong.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Not that Sponsor Bot didn't deserve what he got, but after Fran is reminded of her debt, she enters into rage mode and breaks Sponsor Bot's screen. She's seen regretting her actions soon afterwards.
  • My Greatest Failure: Back when she was a kid, her rage at people bullying a Spider Ant caused her to lash out, unleashing her chair's Mecha Mode and causing a series of disasters leading to her effectively burning down an entire town.
  • Rage Breaking Point: During her introduction segment, she breaks Sponsor Bot after one too many rage-inducing comments. Eventually in Episode 5 she gets so angry that Sponsor Bot activates a "Self-Defense" mode and becomes a giant robot.
  • Super Wheelchair: Fran uses a futuristic hoverchair that comes equipped with various gadgets and weaponry such as a short-range freezing ray and a punching fist. Her chair also has a Mecha Mode that she refuses to use, and only in a JRPG-esque battle with her Sponsor-Bot.
  • Survival Mantra: Whenever she's having rage issues, she starts reciting Frogurt flavors as a coping mechanism.

Supporting characters

    Papa Girardi
A cook who's also an acquaintance of Octavio. Speaks with something resembling an Italian accent.
  • Fake Nationality: In-Universe. He affects a stereotypical Italian accent, but it is entirely for business and sometimes a defense mechanism, and Octavio calls it "problematic."
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Octavio doesn't fall for his fake Italian accent.

    Radon

An Incendiary Professional.

Voiced by: Linden Porce
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_radon.jpg
A demolitions expert Tink. Also acquaintance of Octavio.
  • Demolitions Expert: If Octavio needs something blown up, then Radon's the guy he calls.
  • Establishing Character Moment: During Octavio's introduction segment, he contacts him via ECHOnet offering him to go eat some tacos. Just as he's finishing a demolition job. The explosion can be heard through the device.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: He carries several grenades with him and is seen throwing them with gusto.

    L0U13

Killer. Friend.

Voiced by: Temapare Hodson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_l0u13.jpg
An assassination bot who's hard-wired to kill. Speaks with a british-like accent.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Invoked by him upon MERCing Marvin Baxter. He's a bit sad that he had to go through with the assassination.
  • Catchphrase: After a suggestion from Octavio, he picks this after his assasinations:
    "You just got L-0-U-1-3'd."
  • Consummate Professional: He's hardwired to kill the victims from his contracts. This mission takes precedence over everything.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Surprises Octavio by hiding in a dark alley. Then they discuss Forge's Dirty Thirty and how worthwhile is to get into that list.
  • Exposition Fairy: Explains important things about Promethea and Tediore as well as assessing how close Fran, Anu and Octavio are as a team.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Puts himself in harms way to protect Octavio from Tediore fire, getting his head chopped in the process. He then gets blown up by a grenade just as the door to the bridge is closed. In the Golden Ending, he gets rebuilt offscreen.
  • Literal-Minded: Sarcasm and metaphors often flies over his head.
  • Professional Killer: He's an assassin, though he's also limited by the fact that he can only kill those whose names he knows.
  • Quest Giver: Gives a quest to Octavio where he must make his victim mention louder his name, so that L0U13 can fulfill his contract.
  • Robot Buddy: He's a robot who accompanies the protagonists throughout the game.

    Sponsor Bot
Voiced by: Brad Swaile
A Tediore appliance that helps Fran get her anger in check... or induces it.

    Diamond Danielle

Real thief. Not an idiot.

Voiced by: Natalie Sharp
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_diamond_danielle.jpg
A hitwoman, also an acquaintance of Octavio.
  • Alliterative Name
  • Covert Pervert: Possibly. In Octavio's thorough search for info about his companions, he learns that Danielle has been caught smelling old, used bowling shoes.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Comes from the top of a building during Octavio and L0U13's walk to Paco's, showcasing her prowess with escapes or entrances.
  • Friendly Sniper: Personable, flirty, easy to work with, and able to shoot you in the face from 100 yards away.

    Paco

Pasquale "Paco" Dupont

T.A.C.O. Purveyor, Ratch Whisperer

Voiced by: Mathias Rematal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_paco.jpg
The owner of Octavio's favorite taco store.
  • The Beastmaster: He's trained his Ratches to be attack animals.
  • Quest Giver: One of the first quests he gives to Octavio is to find his favorite pet ratch, Juniper.

    Stapleface

...and Her Knife!

Voiced by: Marguerite Hanna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_stapleface.jpg
A psycho who befriends Anu after she landed on Meridian City.
  • A Boy and His X: Presented on her character card as "Stapleface and her Knife!"
  • Accidental Innuendo: After Anu aids her, Stapleface says, "I thank you...with my body!" ...Meaning a platonic hug.
  • Bury Your Gays: Stapleface is in love with Anu (risking and eventually losing her life to protect her) and is one of the only characters who dies regardless of the player's actions, including the main trio and most of the supporting antagonists.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: During the attack on Tediore's ship she gets gunned down protecting Anu and her pals. She proudly calls it her Death Day.
  • No Indoor Voice: All of her dialog is screamed at the top of her lungs.
  • Talkative Loon: Being a Psycho, she speaks in nonsensical gibberish, though she's comparatively more comprehensible.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Aside from Krieg she's one of the friendliest Psychos of the series and was about to be killed by her fellow Psychos for attempting to think of a better life.
  • Two-Faced: As noted by her name, she has part of a Psycho Mask stapled to her face.

Antagonists

    Bivington Bradwick
Voiced by: Adam Kirschner
An entrepreneur who's associated with Tediore.
  • Alliterative Name
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He acts like Octavio's best friend, but is part of Tediore's trap for the main trio.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Is name-dropped as part of Forge's Dirty Thirty during Octavio's introductory chapter. Octavio meets him halfway through the story during Caldwell's exploitation of his wishes to be famous.
  • Obviously Evil: Even when he's buddying around with Octavio, most of his replies to the player's dialogue options are condescending and mean-spirited. His consecutive attempts to get Octavio to enter smaller, more exclusive VIP areas (including the "VVIP" and "VVVIP" rooms) are completely obvious traps (obvious to everyone but Octavio, of course).

    Jameson Harwen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_jameson_harwen.jpg
L0U13's first victim in the story.

    Hank Shugenfiend
Voiced by: Nathan Kay
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ntftb_hank.jpg
A punk who bullies Fran into giving him free Frogurt in exchange for protection.
  • Addled Addict: He's a sugar addict who wants to die of a sugar high.
  • Death Seeker: When Fran tells him that giving him all the Frogurt he can eat will kill him, he responds that's exactly what he wants.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When Fran questions him about Maliwan's ray destroying her store, he says he isn't to be blamed for the whims of the corporate overlords. Quite hard to disagree.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: He ends up getting frozen and can be shattered into bits by Fran.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Has a grand total of one scene, and almost 10 minutes in the game's nearly 9-hour length. However, weren't for his death and Reba's posterior discovery (and freezing), Fran wouldn't have had a price on her head from both Tediore and Rita.

    Marvin Baxter
The security guard at the ECHOCast studios who's preventing the trio from entering into Sink or Swim.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Had a contract on his head, so L0U13 dispatched him with a well-placed shot on it.

    Pierre Pallantine
A competitor in Sink or Swim.
  • Red Baron: Subverted. Once he presents himself, there's no card shown on the screen to emphasize how low of a character he is in the story.
  • Very Punchable Man: Gives a hard time to the trio prior to the show and refuses to reveal what his device does.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Gets eaten by the sharks when Octavio makes his device fall.
