• Ascended Fanon: In Borderlands 3, Hyperion guns were given the unique gimmick of having energy shields. This lead to some fans to speculate that Athena somehow became CEO of the company after the events of The First Tales. This was mainly due to heavy use of a shield as well as her previous history with the company during the events of The Pre-Sequel. In New Tales while her appearance was brief, It is shown that she did indeed become a CEO or at least a representative of a major corporation, which is also heavily implied to be Hyperion.
