Mortal Kombat Characters

Heroes

    Liu Kang

    Kitana
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In this fic, she is married to Liu Kang and rules Edenia alongside him.
  • Happily Married: To Liu Kang, who she is shown to care about deeply.
  • Odd Friendship: Despite starting off on rough terms Amity and Kitana quickly become friends, not exactly what you would expect.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Luz and Amity encouraging Amity to confess her feeling to Luz and being happy when she does.

    Raiden

    Sonya Blade

    Jax Briggs

    Cyrax
  • Cyborg: Though he really doesn’t like it.
  • Reforged into a Minion: Courtesy of Sektor when he is reprogramed back into a mindless cyborg.
  • Token Good Teammate: Out of the group of villains Quan Chi and Shang Tsung form who are all absolutely awful people helping them for their own reasons Cyrax is the only one Forced into Evil.
  • Walking the Earth: After being freed from Sektor’s control he travels the boiling isles to find a way to rid himself of his Cybernetic Body

    Goro
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the fic instead of switching back to evil after being resurrected by Shao Kahn he stays on the side of good.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In canon, during the attack on Outworld he is killed by Noob Sabot Saibot. Due to Liu Kang being involved in it, he is saved from being killed.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: He disappears from the story after the first chapter.

    Elder Gods
  • Alien Non-Interference Clause: There excuse for never doing anything.
  • The Cameo: Cetrion makes a brief appearance among the rest of the Elder Gods.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Refuse to get involved in anything even when obvious villains are threatening realms under the pretense of a Non-Interference Clause.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Downplayed while they are the gods of the story and the ones behind Raiden they show no care for anyone, and are only out for themselves and refuse to get involved even when it’s clearly necessary.
  • Jerkass Gods: They show no empathy to Raiden and anyone else when Sektor’s clan is destroying all the heroes even when Raiden begs for them to let him get involved they still refuse.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: While they only briefly appear in Chapter 15 their refusal to get involved is what gets Raiden to renounce his position as an Elder God and get involved himself.

Villains

    Shang Tsung
  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed with Shang Tsung while he is about as powerful in terms of magic and skills as he is in canon, we do get to see him defeat more opponents than in canon, including some he has canonically lost to like Liu Kang and Shao Kahn though with In-Universe reasons for both.
  • Adaptive Ability: Shang Tsung uses his Voluntary Shapeshifting powers to adapt to Liu Kang by shapeshifting into the blight twins gaining their illusion powers and using them to defeat Liu Kang in a way he didn’t expect.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: As to be expected from Shang Tsung he will not stay loyal to anyone when he teams up with Boscha he betrays her at the first opportunity, and when he teams up with Quan Chi he is already plotting betrayal.
  • The Emperor: Becomes the Emperor of the Boiling Isles in his arcade ending and plans to become The Emperor of all realms.
  • Evil Sorcerer: Is this to a T.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Just like in canon he has the power to shapeshift into multiple Mortal Kombat characters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Later he even shapeshifts into a few Owl House characters.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Says this word for word before stealing Shao Kahn and Emperor Belos’s soul.

    Quan Chi
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Tortures an Emperor’s Coven member with Shinnok’s amulet to get information on the portal out of the realm, and enjoys it while he does.
  • Evil Sorcerer: While not as blatant as Shang Tsung he has his fair share of magical powers is also called a sorcerer by other characters and is evil.
  • Hell Has New Management: In his arcade ending he defeats Shinnok and takes over as the new ruler of the Netherrealm.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Shang Tsung gets an insane power boost from the soulnado Quan Chi runs away before Shang Tsung can betray him.
  • Teleport Spam: A variation with him using portals to teleport around instead of being able to teleport on a whim like other characters. Though he certainly loves to abuse it.
  • You Monster!: He is called a monster in response to his crimes several times throughout the story.

    Shao Kahn
  • Adaptational Wimp: Shao Kahn is said to be extremely powerful but due to his Evil Cripple he never gets a chance to demonstrate this and loses every fight.
  • The Emperor: Of Outworld.
  • Evil Cripple: Due to his fight with Liu Kang in the Prologue he is badly crippled when transported to the Boiling Isles allowing for Shang Tsung to easily take him out.
  • Offstage Villainy: Shao Kahn has done a lot of very bad stuff but due to him not getting much focus we don't get to see any of it.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: How he dies, courtesy of Shang Tsung.

    Noob Saibot
  • Dark Is Evil: Is described as being completely black and is one of Quan Chi’s minions.
  • The Dragon: He is this to Quan Chi almost always following him around and assisting him.
  • Evil Feels Good: Noob Saibot states that he enjoys his new position, as an evil wraith serving Quan Chi.
  • Not Brainwashed: Much like in the new timeline here it is made clear the despite his circumstances Noob is embracing his new position.
  • Reforged into a Minion: He got this in the past when he was killed as Bi-Han and resurrected as Noob by Quan Chi.
  • Teleport Spam: While many characters love teleporting Noob Saibot is the one that abuses it the most.

    Sektor
  • Adaptational Badass: Sektor is far more powerful than he is in canon, able to beat Hooty who was able to stalemate Quan Chi, Liu Kang, Luz Noceda, Amity Blight, Kitana and Lilith. He is only beaten when Raiden renounces his Elder God status and defeats him.
  • Cyborg: He is fully one and unlike Cyrax completely embraces this.
  • Kill It with Fire: He loves using his flamethrowers to do this, doing it to both a random Emperor’s Coven member, Lilith (though she survives) and Sonya.
  • Logical Weakness: Because he is a cyborg he has trouble dealing with electricity, which the Blight twins use to their advantage. Until Shang Tsung gives him an upgrade.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Mentions killing his own father to take over the Lin Kuei though he fails to take it over.
  • Teleport Spam: Uses his tech to teleport around during a battle frequently.

    Scorpion
  • Escaped from Hell: Scorpion escaped from the Netherrealm after being trapped there by Quan Chi when the Mass Teleportation of the story happened.
  • Revenge Before Reason: His desire for Revenge on Quan Chi is so strong that he tries to stop Raiden from taking him on as Scorpion wants to be the only one to kill him. Raiden tries to reason with him, saying they could fight him together, but Scorpion refuses to listen.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He is very angry about Quan Chi killing his family and clan and does anything to try and kill him.
  • Teleport Spam: His hellfire powers give Scorpion the ability to teleport something he uses constantly during battles.

    Kano
  • Cyborg: Like in canon, he has a cybernetic eye that can be used to shoot lasers.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Besides being another minion for Shao Kahn and later Shang Tsung he has very little importance in the plot as a whole.

    Drahmin and Moloch
  • Dumb Muscle: Moloch is not very smart, frequently rushing to attack with no strategy and only relying on his brute strength.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How they are both killed courtesy of Emperor Belos.

    Reptile
  • Killed Offscreen: Is killed by Shang Tsung offscreen sometime after meeting with Shao Kahn.

    Shinnok
  • The Ghost: He Is mentioned several times throughout the fic, but never makes an appearance in the story, outside of Quan Chi’s non-canon arcade ending.

    Spoiler Character

Kronika

  • Greater-Scope Villain: Is revealed to be the one behind every character from Outworld and the Netherrealm being transported to the Boiling Isles. Though she does not play an active role in the story.

The Owl House Characters

Heroes

    Luz Noceda

    Eda Clawthorne
  • Brought Down to Normal: What ended up happening to her when she lost all her magic as well the reason she is inactive the entire fic.
  • Demoted to Extra: Not as noticeable as King but compared to The Owl House she has much less presence or importance to the plot.

    King

    Hooty
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite his silly appearance, he is a very competent fighter fending off hordes of Netherrealm demons and even Quan Chi.

    Amity Blight
  • Crush Blush: Blushes anytime she is around Luz or is talking about her.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Amity is worried about her feelings with Luz and the possibility of her rejecting her and how it will affect their friendship.
  • Odd Friendship: Despite starting off on rough terms Amity and Kitana quickly become friends, not exactly what you would expect.

    Edric and Emira Blight
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite their tendency to joke around they actually can do pretty well in fights when needed.

    Willow Park

    Gus Porter
  • Sixth Ranger: Appears and joins the group quite late in the story

    Lilith Clawthorne
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: Subverted she initially comes into the story in one of the last chapters to help fend off Sektor's army, but ends up being badly burned by Sektor in the same chapter and left incapacitated for the rest of the story.

Villains

    Emperor Belos

    Emperor’s Coven Members
  • Cannon Fodder: They get killed constantly in the fic and are barely able to do anything.
  • Mooks: Serve as this to Emperor Belos with there being tons that are constantly killed off.

    Boscha
  • Adaptational Villainy: While she is no saint in canon in the fic she has outright murderous intentions, and is willing to team up with Shang Tsung just for petty Revenge.
  • Deal with the Devil: Liu Kang spells out that her deal with Shang Tsung is this, he’s right.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: She made the fatal mistake of trusting Shang Tsung, though somewhat justified as she knows almost nothing about him, unlike the other Mortal Kombat characters.

    Demon Hunter Trio
  • Cannon Fodder: They barely do anything besides get killed by Noob Saibot and later Scorpion.

    Tim
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Is decapitated by Kitana's fans.
  • Flat Character: He has little characterization only really being used as a plot device for Amity and Kitana to meet.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He gets killed in the very first chapter he appears in, without really doing much.

    Steve
  • Asshole Victim: He is murdered by Shang Tsung for his own ends though considering he is an emperor’s coven member it's not exactly undeserved.
  • The Dragon: Essentially serves as this to Belos in the scenes they appear in.
