    General
  • The aspect of the story of both Liu Kang and Kitana ruling the Edenia is a reference to an intro dialogue in Injustice 2.
Raiden 1: In my world, Liu Kang and Kitana rule Edenia.
Raiden 2: In mine, they govern the Netherrealm.

    Chapter 1
  • The entire battle between the forces of Edenia and Outworld is what happened during the opening of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance though supposedly much earlier as Shao Kahn is still working on his clone.
  • Noob Saibot attacking Goro happened in canon with Goro’s death being the thing to push back to Edenian forces though in the fic due to Liu Kang being there he is saved.
  • Liu Kang mentions Shao Kahn making a clone of himself suggesting the attack is happening earlier than in canon.

    Chapter 4
  • Noob Saibot has access to his shadow clone which is an ability he would only get in later games.
  • Noob Saibot being involved in the clan’s death was not something confirmed in the Orginal Timeline and serves as a reference to Bi-Han’s involvement in the rebooted timeline.

    Chapter 6
  • The phrase “Scorpion’s Revenge” is used which is a reference to the animated movie which had come out not long before this fic.

    Chapter 10
  • Quan Chi’s torture of the Emperor’s coven member using Shinnok’s amulet is like how Shinnok starting using his amulet in Mortal Kombat X.

    Chapter 12
  • Shang Tsung uses his famous “Your Soul Is Mine” line which originated from the movie.
  • Shang Tsung’s slaughter of many of the Emperor’s coven is very similar to Sindel’s of most of the Earthrealm heroes in Mortal Kombat 9, with both gaining some sort of power boost to mow through them with little effort and only the final one putting up some sort of fight, though unlike with Sindel Shang Tsung survives.
  • Shang Tsung and Quan Chi teaming up and planning to summon a soulnado together is a pretty clear parallel to the events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

    Chapter 15
  • Cyrax's line "my speed and skill are beyond yours" was also used in Mortal Kombat 9
