Characters / Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser Job Change

Go To

What would happen to some of the central characters in Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser if certain events in the past turned out differently, there was a Spanner in the Works, someone Took a Third Option, or certain events set in the story continued 20 Minutes into the Future without any intervention? The game's job change mechanic explores the answer to this question by reintroducing existing major and supporting characters of the game as Alternate Selves with a different job type and skillset based on the Alternate History that has shaped them into who they are.

This page lists all Grand Chase Dimensional Chaser characters with a Job Change variation, regardless of affiliation, in the order that they are added into the game.

    Elesis Sieghart
"A champion bestowed with the King's Sword."
Type: Tank

The Red Knights, a faction that protects fringe areas of the Kingdom of Kanavan, were famous for having some of the best knights in the kingdom. Over time, however, the prestige of the Red Knights declined until the famed Master Swordsman, Elscud Sieghart, became their commander. Even so, the Red Knights faced an uphill task regaining their lost honor. As part of their efforts, Elscud's daughter, Elesis, participated in a tournament hosted by Queen Kanavan. During the tournament, Elesis managed to replicate the Sieghart family's Secret Art of wielding a BFS, something not even Elscud himself managed to do, and emerged as tournament champion. Recognising this feat, the Queen bestowed upon Elesis the King's Sword, as well as the title of Sword Master, thus continuing the legend of the kingdom's greatest swordfighter.

  • BFS: Elesis's sword is just as wide as her, and its overall length is taller—the blade itself is roughly her height.

    Lire Eryuell
"Special Sentinel who guards Eryuell Island."
Type: Assault

When the war with the demons reached Eryuell Island, the Sentinels—a special force of elves famed for their ability to achieve Not Quite Flight with the power of the wind—were called up to defend the island, and many young elves applied to join their ranks. Two of these elves were Lire and her friend, Myrielle Ariaden. While Myrielle succeeded in becoming a Sentinel, Lire did not. During one of the demonic invasions on the island, Myrielle became overconfident in her abilities, which resulted in her being cut off from other Sentinels and surrounded by demons. However, Lire intervened by alerting the other elves of Myrielle's distress, so she was rescued from a certain death. For her efforts, Lire was inducted into the ranks of the Sentinels, becoming a Wind Walker.

  • Guns Akimbo: Crossbows Akimbo, rather. Instead of a great bow, she dual wields twin crossbows like guns, like her Crossbowman class from the original game.

    Arme Glenstid
"Wicked Alchemist."
Type: Healer

Although the Kingdom of Serdin is known for its mages, not everyone can be a mage. To educate and help the citizens of the kingdom who are unable to use magic, the Violet Mage Guild created Wicked, a branch of the guild staffed by Violet Mages. Arme joined Wicked as an Alchemist, and her job is to use her own magic powers to directly assist the citizens with their requests. Her job performance versus other Alchemists is highly questionable, as her use of magic is often accompanied by some unwanted side-effects that are Played for Laughs. Despite this, no one questions the quality of her service or her friendliness towards them, with some citizens even approaching her over other Wicked staff for any of their needs.

    Ronan Erudon
"Wandering Spell Knight."
Type: Mage

As the Kingdom Wars came to an end and both the Kingdoms of Kanavan and Serdin began to rebuild and reestablish relations with each other, Ronan, who had spent five years slaughtering innocent people under the possession of Kaze'aze, found himself incapable of moving past the atrocities of war, despite being considered a war hero by many citizens in the Kingdom of Kanavan. Unable to balance the burden of being seen as one of the greatest knights of the kingdom with the shame of having massacred so many people during the war, Ronan deserted and began to Walk the Earth. As a result, he was viewed as a coward and shunned wherever he went. However, Ronan did not care, seeing this as a way to atone for his past misdeeds.

  • Be All My Sins Remembered: This Ronan is what happens when he's unable to overcome his regrets, or at least hide it behind his optimism. Feeling guilty for the war he started against his will, he deserted his kingdom.

    Mari Ming Onette
"Princess who leads the resistance."
Type: Ranger

When Mari learned that the First Lord of the Kingdom of Kounat, Baldinar, was planning to stage a coup to overthrow the royal family and usurp the throne, she knew that he could not be stopped, and fled the city to the borders of the kingdom. Baldinar's coup came to pass, and he toppled the royal family, subjugating or killing everyone who resisted him. From the edges of the kingdom, Mari, with her skills as a magic engineer, created a working replica of the Buster Gun, a Hand Cannon that was used with devastating effect against the demons during the First Demon War. With this new weapon, Mari began recruiting loyalists to her cause, creating La Résistance, and waiting for the day when the resistance would have the power and numbers to crush Baldinar and restore the throne.

  • Death from Above: Mari's Special Skill drops multiple warheads on a wide path in front of her, doing damage equal to 21x her Physical Attack stat, while also summoning 2 drones to pile on extra damage after the explosions have subsided.
  • Hand Cannon: The Buster Gun is physically large for a pistol that is held with one hand. In-game, its stats are also slanted towards physical offense.

    Amy Plie
"Rock n roll that moves the soul."
Type: Assault

Amy became an idol for the masses to help with the reconstruction of Silver Land following its destruction by the Xenian gods. By Contrived Coincidence, a fairy of music appeared before Amy, who proceeded to completely change the way she had previously perceived music and, more importantly, made her realise that she could not perform to the best of her ability unless she relearned her ways of being an idol. When the fairy departed, Amy was given the Kleiophone, a musical instrument that could project the voice of a human to a volume high enough for even the gods to hear. With this new instrument, Amy changed from a graceful and dainty dancer into a rougher, edgier singer, resulting in a Broken Base among her fans.

    Lime Serenity
"God's Chariot Merkaba."
Type: Tank

Merkaba is the vanguard force of the Holy Knights of Roose, leading the knights' crusade and protecting them from whatever stands in their way. Through sheer hard work and persistence, Lime rose through the ranks of the Holy Knights to become the youngest Commander of Merkaba. As the commander, she is given the Operniel Shield, a massive shield that is as large as she is, to lead the charge in battles. Lime's promotion at such a young age has gone into her head, and she demands that the other members of Merkaba follow her orders while also frequently planning Training from Hell, even though they never seem to take her seriously.

    Edel Frost
"Former Serdin Elite Musketeer Officer."
Type: Ranger

Edel grew up alongside her twin brother, Adel, learning the ways of the sword with him. However, when Adel was stricken with an uncurable illness, Edel forsook the blade, vowing never to return to swordplay until she finds a cure for her brother. She then switched to gunplay, becoming an excellent marksman with her rifle, and was commissioned to be one of the kingdom's Elite Musketeer Officers. During a demonic attack on Bermesiah, which resulted in a platoon being isolated due to an intelligence failure in the upper ranks of the kingdom's army, Edel set out to rescue the platoon, and although she managed to break through the demonic blockade and rescue the platoon, Edel was framed for the intelligence failure of her superiors and discharged as a result. Following her discharge, Edel left Serdin to Walk the Earth, getting involved in smaller battles and earning the respect of countless mercenaries who are impressed by her leadership abilities and proficiency in the use of her rifle.

    Jin Kaien
"A warrior who took on the name of Asura."
Type: Assault

The Silver Knights were beset by an unusual pandemic that caused many in their ranks to pass away after seemingly dreaming about meeting an old man who subjected them to Training from Hell until they were completely drained of energy. The leader of the Silver Knights, Victor, found that this was similar to a disease written in old scriptures, where the disciples of a warrior deity, Asura, suffered due to being subjected to extreme training. During a rainy day, Jin encountered an old man with a staff who had collapsed on the side of the road. As Jin brought the old man into a cave to tend to him, the old man transformed into a martial artist who called himself Asura. Asura then proceeded to teach and train Jin for many years. When Jin's training concluded with him reaching a greater level of skill and understanding of martial arts, as well as inheriting the title of Asura, he emerged from the cave to find that only three days had passed.

    Ley Von Crimson River
"Crimson River mademoiselle who dominates high society."
Type: Healer

The war between the Moderates and Hardliners spans two fronts. One front is led by Dio Burning Canyon, as he commands the Moderates in battle against the Hardliners. The other front is led by Ley Von Crimson River, and it takes place in parties hosted by the most esteemed communities of the Demon World. Ley makes it a point to be present at any parties held in the Demon World, to the point where the party host could be questioned if she is absent. Ley's consistent presence at parties has resulted in Crimson River Mansion frequently receiving party invitations, with some hosts even rescheduling their parties so that they can accommodate Ley's schedule. It is through attending these parties that Ley gains a better understanding of domestic affairs, and she uses her clout as a member of the highly regarded Crimson River family to manipulate high-level politics in favor of the Moderates' cause.

  • Socialite: Reconstructed; Ley spends most of her time getting involved in as many parties hosted in the Demon World as possible, so Dio thinks she is Idle Rich. However, the Demon World's politics are as much of a battleground as a conventional warzone, so Ley involves herself in the parties to sway said politics in favour of the Moderates.

    Harpe Noir
"The knight who awaits light with his true feelings in darkness."
Type: Tank

The Erudon family of the Kingdom of Kanavan was often embroiled in political warfare with the ruling council. Because of this, the council appointed Harpe to spy on the future head of the family, Ronan. As time passed, Harpe began to respect Ronan's relentless courage, and opted to sever ties with the council. When Ronan became disillusioned with his family and vanished, the council attempted to gain greater control over the Erudon family, but they could not do so without appointing a successor to Ronan's position. As Harpe was the only suitable replacement, he rejoined the council, taking up Ronan's position as a Knight of Kanavan, but he secretly intends to purge the council of its corruption and eventually return his position to its rightful holder.

    Scarde Vi Serdin
"Founder of Violet Mage."
Type: Mage

Following the Great Explosion of Kounat and Serdin leading some of the survivors of the Kingdom of Kounat to Bermesiah to establish the Kingdom of Serdin, she decides to Abdicate the Throne. This was not an easy decision to make, and many in her kingdom opposed the abdication, with some even attempting to get the Kingdom of Kanavan to dissuade her. However, Serdin was determined to proceed with the abdication, and she was supported by an official statement from the Kingdom of Kanavan, which endorsed it, as well as rumors that Queen Kanavan was delighted at the announcement. Serdin began to Walk the Earth as an archmage, learning from her travels. It was during a trip into a gorge with a perpetual pleasant breeze that Serdin met Ponente, a mystical beast of the wind, with whom she would become companions with. By the time she returned to the Kingdom of Serdin with Ponente, they had become incredibly famous throughout Bermesiah for their magic skills. Serdin proceeded to found the Violet Mage, an organisation of highly skilled mages who still influence the development of magic in the present day.

  • Abdicate the Throne: Her story diverges from her canon counterpart when she chose to abdicate and travel the world.
  • Grew a Spine: This Serdin's entire backstory started off with her playing this trope and choosing to abdicate, against the wishes of most of her former subjects, and it shows—she lacks the Blush Stickers seen in most of canon Serdin's standard outfits.
  • Living Legend: As a result of her travels and meeting Ponente, she and the mystical beast became famous for their great magic.
  • Non-Player Companion: Serdin's Fairy Companion, Ponente, will always be summoned at the start of battle to pile extra damage whenever Serdin uses her Active Skills. Unlike most other heroes' companions, Ponente accompanies her until the battle ends and cannot be dispelled in any way.
  • Walk the Earth: After abdicating, Serdin travelled all over Aernas to explore the world and further develop her skills.

    Ercnard Sieghart
"Kounat custodian who watches out for false powers."
Type: Tank

As a Knight of Kanavan, Sieghart began to question the concept of chivalry, so he left the kingdom to Walk the Earth in search of an answer. During his travels in Archimedia, amongst the ruins of the ancient Kingdom of Kounat, Sieghart encountered a Highlander, Graham, who took him in and bestowed upon him the powers of a Highlander, which included Immortality. When both of them were attacked by a corrupted Highlander, Graham dealt the killing blow, but he was mortally wounded in the process. His last words to Sieghart were "power tempts mankind into corruption." Although Sieghart now realised that it Takes One to Kill One, Sieghart did not initially understand Graham's final words, but after 600 years of battling and slaying Highlanders who have become Drunk with Power, he finally realised that the powers of the Highlanders—along with The Corruption it brings—are a direct result of the legacy left by the ancient kingdom and is left wondering if he too would eventually become Drunk with Power himself. Until that happens, Sieghart decides that he will stand vigilant over the remains of the Kingdom of Kounat, preventing its legacy from having an impact on the rest of the world.

    Io Jupiter
"A guardian angel who heals you whenever, wherever."
Type: Healer

Io was originally deployed from the Celestial World to Bermesiah to observe the youngest member of the House of Frost, who possessed a great power, and then guide them to the Celestials when they awakened said powers. Upon her arrival, however, Io found that the House of Frost had not only declined in numbers, but there were twin siblings, both with the same set of latent powers. Unable to determine whether Adel or Edel should ascend, Io took on the vow of a Guardian Angel in order to prolong her stay in the mortal world. When Adel was the first to awaken his powers, he was guided by Io and taken in by the Celestials. As he ascended, however, Io continued following his twin sister, Edel. The angel remained in the mortal world to keep a close watch on Edel, posing as her nanny's daughter, classmate, waitress at her favorite restaurant, and seamstress's assistant, at various points in Edel's life. However, when Edel became an officer in the Kanavan army, Io could no longer keep a close watch on her and subsequently blamed herself when Edel was dishonorably discharged. Vowing never to take her eyes off Edel again and being unable to secure a job as Edel's housemaid, Io decided to disguise herself as a doctor who attends specifically to veterans of war, such as Edel herself.

  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Io does not have a proper license to be a doctor, but she is accepted as one because she is just that good at it.
  • Giant Medical Syringe: Her Exclusive Equipment is the aptly named Almighty Syringe, which is taller than her. However, Io can also shrink it down to a more logical size when she is not using it to its full power.
  • Grin of Audacity: Io's skill cut has her doing this just before she fires her Special Skill. Said skill, which creates an area where all allies gain an extreme amount of Healing Factor, is named Overdose.
  • Guardian Angel: This Io is even more focused on following Edel around, which is not part of her original assignment. Unlike the canon storyline, however, this continuity's Edel is unaware that Io is more than just a doctor for war veterans.
  • It's All My Fault: Io blames herself for Edel's dishonorable discharge from the Serdin army, even though this was not exactly her fault—Edel's commission into the army made it impossible for Io to keep a close watch on her. This is a large part of the reason why Io follows post-discharge Edel with even more zeal than before.
  • The Medic: Being a doctor may just be a front for Io to keep a regular watch on Edel, but the angel actually provides treatment to other war veterans and does it well enough to be a Bunny-Ears Lawyer. The in-game lore of Io's Almighty Syringe also mentions that she was surprised to learn that she could use the Celestial relic to heal wounds quite easily, suggesting that Io has a natural affinity for this trope.

    Lass Isolet
"A thief looking for his lost memory."
Type: Ranger

    Lapis
"An abaddon who covers madness and chaos with a smile."
Type: Assault

    Esnar Din Kanavan
"The Knight of Dawn, calling an end to darkness."
Type: Healer

    Werner Burning Canyon
"The dignity of the Lord, built upon bloodshed."
Type: Assault

    Europa Jupiter
"A lone angel."
Type: Ranger

The four Archangels of Jupiter were tasked to help the Creator Goddesses with the creation of the world of Aernas. Unlike other worlds, the creation of Aernas was delierately prolonged by the Creator Goddesses as they foresaw that the demons, led by the Demon God Heitaros, would try to invade and destroy it right after its creation. What they did not expect Heitaros to do was attack the world before it was fully created, defying one of the laws of the universe. The resulting battle between the demons and Celestials was disastrous, with even Jupiter himself being involved. His involvement turned out to be a Götterdämmerung—in an act that was previously considered Beyond the Impossible, the demons killed Jupiter during a brief moment when none of his archangels were protecting him. With Jupiter's passing, most of the celestial powers tied to him, including the powers of Europa's weapon, Astrape, vanished, and while the four archangels did not die with him, three of them—Callisto, Ganymede, and Io—would eventually depart forever from the Temple of Thunder, Jupiter's abode in the Celestial World, leaving Europa as the only remaining occupant of the temple. When the world of Jupiter's passing finally reached the Angelos Enclave, a messenger was sent to the temple to confirm his passing and, if so, to convey the Enclave's order that the Temple of Thunder be vacated.

  • The Aloner: In this continuity, Europa is the only Celestial being still living in the Temple of Thunder, being slowly consumed by her Survivor Guilt. The other three archangels departed from the temple after Jupiter's demise.
  • Artifact Name: Even though he is dead, Europa still defiantly insists that she is still one of the Four Archangels of Jupiter.
  • Fallen Angel: Europa is not technically this, but for all intents and purposes, she qualifies as a more modern, downplayed interpretation of this trope. She has lost her Top God in a moment of weakness, his other archangels failed to protect him, have cast off their allegiance to him, and left her alone in his temple, and on top of all that, the Celestial Bureaucracy intends to order her to leave his temple. It all seems very logical, but to say that she is pissed with both the demons (for killing Jupiter and defying the laws of the universe) and the Celestials (for collectively writing Jupiter off) is putting it very lightly.
  • Implied Death Threat: The first messenger from the Angelos Enclave who arrived at the Temple of Thunder to inform Europa that the Angelos Enclave intends to evict her from the temple was told to leave and inform the Enclave that future access to the temple would be blocked by a thunderstorm so that he can prevent any...misfortunes...from coming to other Enclave members. This comes on the heels of Europa declaring that she would spare him, suggesting that she would have preferred to Shoot the Messenger instead.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Much like Lire's Storm Bringer outfit, Europa's Lobelia outfit does not look like something one would wear in a combat situation. This may be justified seeing that Europa now spends more time in the Temple of Thunder shooting lightning from her ballista than moving around at high speeds in a battlefield.
  • Lightning Gun: Europa's Exclusive Equipment is the Lightning Ballista, which functions as Impossibly Cool as it sounds. The weapon is a long spear that contains all the power that remained from Astrape as well as the Temple of Thunder, discharging violent bursts of electricity with a deafening sound that resembles Jupiter's Death Cry Echo.
  • Loophole Abuse: Europa is bound to obey the orders of the Angelos Enclave, but she is not compelled to follow any orders that she cannot hear. With access to the Temple of Thunder being perpetually blocked off by a fierce thunderstorm that prevents any angel from entering it, and the sound of its thunder drowning out every other voice in the vicinity, there is no way for the Angelos Enclave to evict her from the temple.
  • The Magic Goes Away: Most of Europa's powers are tied to Jupiter. Thus, when he fell, much of her power was lost. Her current powers are a consolidation of whatever residual power from Jupiter is left in her former signature weapon, the Astrape, as well as the Temple of Thunder.
  • My Greatest Failure: Protecting her Top God. Most of the other tropes in this section stem from this single failure.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: Europa blocking access to the Temple of Thunder with a massive thunderstorm is her way of flipping off the Angelos Enclave.
  • Sanity Slippage: Europa's refusal to leave the Temple of Thunder on the orders of the Enclave, combined with the vast amount of time she has spent alone in the temple with her thoughts, past memories, and Survivor Guilt, has destabilised her considerably. This is shown in her tendency to lash out at others as well as a slight Art Shift in the way she is drawn in official art.
  • Single Tear: Symbolically appears in Europa's skill cut whenever she fires her Special Skill.
  • Stellar Name: The name of Europa's Soul Imprint outfit, Lobelia, has a double meaning. It is named after the flowering plant, Lobelia, similar to how her base Job Change outfit, Allium, is named after another flowering plant, which is not this trope. Where this trope comes in is from the second meaning: in real life, the minor planet 1066 Lobelia, which is also named after the flowering plant, is an asteroid that does not belong to any asteroid family and orbits the Sun in a Kirkwood gap, one of four regions within the inner solar system where there are very few asteroids and that has an orbital resonance with Jupiternote , which references the current situation Europa is in.
  • Survivor Guilt: Inwardly, she blames herself for not being able to stop Jupiter's death. Outwardly, she pins the blame on her other sisters for not doing what Jupiter had created them to do.
  • Thousand-Yard Stare: As long as she is not channelling the remaining powers of Jupiter in her ballista, Europa has this face.

    Myung Hwarin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kakao_another_hwarin_1.png
Unmoving Queen
Queen of Afterlife (Soul Imprint)
"The Queen of the Underworld reinstating order with an iron fist."
Type: Mage

Hwarin's ascension as Queen of the Underworld came too late to stop the Demon God Heitaros from having a stranglehold over the affairs of the Underworld. The members of the Underworld Royal Court who were swayed to serve Heitaros ousted everyone who was even remotely loyal to her, even as discontent from the Haros living outside the Underworld City grew. Hwarin realised that, if this were to continue, she would be forced to Abdicate the Throne to Heitaros. In an act of desperation, Hwarin pulled a Xanatos Gambit, performing a Fusion Dance with the soul of the First King of the Underworld, Plouton, often considered one of the Underworld's most powerful rulers, as well as being so tyrannical that he challenged the Creator and was punished for it. The benefit was mutual—Plouton could rule the Underworld again, and she would have all the resolve she ever needed to do so. The result of the fusion was a more steely-eyed Hwarin with the personality traits of Plouton that made him the powerful ruler that he was, and she swore to eradicate all threats to her rule.

  • Fusion Dance: This Hwarin is a fusion of the original Hwarin with the soul of King Plouton. The result is a Mind Hive Hwarin who has the late king's personality and internal conversations with the original Hwarin, who observes events as they happen but is unable to directly influence them.
  • Lonely at the Top: This is the Hard Truth Aesop that the dominant Hwarin claims the conscience of the original Hwarin must accept—the decision to perform a Fusion Dance with the soul of King Plouton was hers alone, not something that she decided with the help of the Underworld Royal Court or the Haros living outside the Underworld City. As such, she has effectively alienated herself from everyone in the Underworld whom she could trust.
  • Mind Hive: There are essentially two Hwarins in the same body. The dominant Hwarin has a personality similar to King Plouton, but she occasionally has conversations with the other, original Hwarin, who now exists only as a voice in her head.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: When viewed through the perception of King Plouton, fusing his soul with Hwarin's is this, as it allows him to rule the Underworld again.
  • Rule 63: Hwarin post-fusion is essentially a genderswapped King Plouton—her regalia is even similar to what he used to wear—but with a tempered amount of his tyrannical personality.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Hwarin chose to perform the Fusion Dance with King Plouton's soul because she knew the end result would be for the good of the Underworld.

    Ragnar
