Kibou Alliance
The Kibou Alliance, also known as Alliance of Hope is an organization, stationed in Kibou Town. Its co-leaders are the group known as the Numbers, consisting of: Kensei Amagiri, Zane Wayland, Maria Lancelot, Hisui Aozaki, and Abigail Clark.
Amagiri Residence/Sword Team
Kensei Amagiri
The story's main character, Kensei is the surviving heir of the Amagiri Clan, a renowned clan that served the Shinto Gods. Kensei is the first son of Tetsuo Uesugi and the sole son of both his first love and previous rival, Sakura Amagiri; also the older half-brother of Naoto and Nariko Uesugi.
After the death of his mother, Kensei became close to both Claire Belial and Alice Evangelista who live with him in his hometown. He is a second-year student in Kibou Academy in Class 2-D and the Public Morals Committee's Captain.
- The Ace: Kensei is a natural talent, if it has anything to do with fighting, he can learn it easier than most, but he still puts in the effort into mastering it like most. And it isn't limited to combat alone, he's much smarter and brighter than he appears.
- Big Brother Instinct: DO. NOT. TOUCH. His brother or sister, a demon made that mistake and paid for it.
- Black Swords Are Better: His favorite katana, Kurogane is a black blade, literally translating to "Black Iron", and is made from a special metal named amahagane produced by Amakuni.
- Broken Ace: The kid's been through a lot, to put it lightly.
- Came Back Strong: Left for dead on a monster-filled mountain in another country, found by the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, and one of the Dragon Kings, Yu-Long who had Xuanzang Sanzang heal him. Sun Wukong trained him for a month, then he returned to Hagun Island, defeating almost half the Gehenna Guard and killing the Commander, Hayashi.
- Challenge Seeker: Seeking to reach greater heights as a swordsman, Kensei once challenged Souji Okita, a legendary samurai, and Sirzech's Knight to a fight.
- Chick Magnet: A given, being the protagonist of a DxD fanfic. He currently has five fiancées (Minako Kushihashi, Kunou, Claire Belial, Alice Evangelista, and Hisui Aozaki).
- Childhood Friend: Kensei and Minako have been close friends since childhood, but at age 6 promised not to see each other again for 10 years until she fulfilled her dream of becoming an idol. Both did reunite again at the age of 16, but after she stood up in front of an armed terrorist.
- Childhood Friend Romance: As a kid, he didn't know much about romance or marriage, but he cares for his childhood friend, Minako.
- Child Prodigy: Kensei was already a talented martial artist, learning things as a child, he wouldn't have until his teens.
- Death Glare: His mother was called a Demon, and his father was called a Dragon, so Kensei had a frightening glare even as a child. At 16, he caused one of the Church's strongest exorcists to stop moving.
- Dragon Ancestry: Kensei gained dragon blood, as Tetsuo defeated and drank the blood of an Evil Dragon stronger than the other invading dragons, but weaker than the Legendary Evil Dragons, Yamata-no-Orochi and Crom Cruach. Because of this, his oldest and two youngest children inherited dragon blood from him.
- The Dragonslayer: In chapter 28 "Norse Expedition III", Kensei with the assistance of his team and Valkyrie Squad, has managed to kill one of the Evil Dragons, Niðhöggr.
- Dual Wielding: And sometimes, triple wielding.
- Fantastic Fighting Style:
- Amagiri-ryuu: Earlier on, he practices an Ancient Martial Art, Amagiri-ryuu for combating special power users, demons, spirits, and also dragons. He soon developed the Tougen Amagiri-ryuu as a personal variation for himself.
- Senjutsu: He learned a rare technique among High-Level Youkai and Sennin (Sages) for manipulating his "Ki" to a higher level than before from the Monkey King himself, which added more to his martial art.
- Chinese Kenpo: He learned the basics of three Chinese Kenpo: Hakkyokuken, Hikaken, and Hakkesho, all of which are often trained alongside one another. There's a proverb for Hakkyokuken and Hikaken: When pigua (hika) is added to baji (hakkyoku), gods and demons will all be terrified. When baji (hakkyoku) is added to pigua (hika), heroes will sigh knowing they are no match against it.
- First Kiss: He kissed his childhood friend, Minako during a summer festival.
- Their First Time: Near the end of chapter 42: The Conclusion, Kensei had a threesome with Claire and Alice for the first time.
- Katanas Are Just Better: He prefers using katanas over other swords.
- Lightning Bruiser: Despite being a swordsman, Kensei has naturally high strength, speed, and endurance that is above a mature pure-blood devil, once matched an empowered humanoid monster in a contest of strength and speed.
- Meaningful Name: His first name means "Sword Saint", which references an honored title given to legendary warriors who have a higher degree of swordsmanship and moral perfection, some founded popular schools. His mother had given him this name to refer to his potential as a warrior.
- Mythical Motifs: He modeled most of his martial arts and techniques after the Eastern Dragon, ironic enough, Kensei does have innate dragon blood and power.
- Sex Magic: Kensei is capable of using Bouchujutsu, the strongest healing method of Senjutsu, which requires him to have sex with another woman. He did just that near the end of Chapter 42, where he had a threesome with Claire and Alice using the same technique too, which aside from preventing pregnancies enhances pleasure, too.
- Smarter Than You Look: Though Kensei comes off as a battle maniac with nothing, but fighting on the brain. He used his head more often than not, and instruction from Sanzang Xuanzang afforded him much greater knowledge in various subjects, something that surprised the Buddha.
- Three-Way Sex: It's obvious enough, that his first time was a threesome with Claire and Alice.
- Tiger Versus Dragon: Kensei is the Dragon, while Lingqi is the Tiger.
Claire Yaegaki Belial
Claire is one of the female protagonists of the story. She's the daughter of both Cleria Belial and Masaomi Yaegaki, being brought to Hagun Island sometime after their death. There she encountered Kensei Amagiri and Alice Evangelista, both of whom she now lives with, in the Amagiri Residence following the Hagun Island Rebellion.
Claire has a unique Sacred Gear, White Nemesis, which has the Nemesis Angel, Radueriel sealed inside of it.
She is now a first-year student at Kibou Academy and the Public Morals Committee's Vice-Captain. Claire is known as one of the two Great Kibou Princesses known as the Graceful Angel.
- Child of Two Worlds: Figurative and Literal. Claire is the half-breed daughter of the High-Class Devil Cleria Belial, and the Exorcist, Masaomi Yaegaki. Although, she loved this about herself, as the daughter of a Pure-Blooded Devil and Exorcist, who shared a genuine love for one another, the people from both sides despised their love and the result of it, resulting in them ironically joining sides to be rid of them, leaving Claire as the survivor.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: In the beginning, even when she viewed Kensei as a brother, she did not like it when another girl other than her or Alice got a little too close to him.
- Half-Breed Angst: At first, Claire loved and respected herself for her lineage, but after losing both her partners and her first family, she started secretly despising herself.
- Half-Breed Discrimination: As the daughter of an Exorcist and Pure-Blooded Devil, Claire became the subject is hatred and ire from the Underworld (most notably the Great King Faction) and the Church, causing them to attempt to join forces a second time to kill her, even if it meant breaking into someone else's territory to do it.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Claire is half-Devil, being someone born into the Belial Clan through her maternal lineage.
- Hybrid Power: She inherited her mother's demonic power (and their inherited trait, Worthless), while inheriting her father's talent as an Exorcist.
- Mixed Ancestry Is Attractive: Claire is a Half-Devil and Human (with Japanese lineage), causing her to grow up into a beautiful and graceful young woman, something which caused her to be described as such.
- Yin-Yang Bomb: As a devil wielding the powers of an angel through her Sacred Gear: White Nemesis.
- Their First Time: Near the end of chapter 42: The Conclusion, she and Alice had sex with Kensei.
Alice Evangelista
Alice is one of the female protagonists of the story. She lived on Hagun Island within the same residential area and home as Kensei Amagiri and Claire Belial whom she became rather close to. Though she appeared to be impassive, she possesses one of the Four High-Tier Longinus, Annihilation Maker.
After the Hagun Island Rebellion, she now lives in Kibou Town in the Amagiri Residence with both Kensei and Claire. Alice is a second-year student at Kibou Academy, where she is a member of the Art Club, known as one of the Great Kibou Queens, the Beautiful Artist.
- Composite Character: Her Sacred Gear, Annihilation Maker, is wielded by Leonardo of the Hero Faction in canon.
- Healing Factor: She gained natural regeneration after gaining "Monster Cells", at this point, small wounds would close in seconds without her intending to.
- Mook Maker: Annihilation Maker (also known as Creation of the Demonic Beast) can make monsters based on the user's imagination. Like a dragon.
- Monstrous Humanoid: Though Alice started as a normal Human, since the inclusion of "Monster Cell" from one of the unique powers produced through her High-Tier Longinus, she is now in the process of turning into a Half-Monster, and a Humanoid Monster.
- Their First Time: Near the end of chapter 42: The Conclusion, she and Claire had sex with Kensei.
Minako Kushihashi
Minako Kushihashi is one of the female protagonists of the story. She was born into the Kushihashi Clan from the Five Principal Clans, the childhood friend and fiancée of Kensei Amagiri. Minako dreams of one day becoming a worldwide idol and soon succeeded, under the name Sakura-hime.
- Childhood Friends: Minako and Kensei have been close friends since childhood, but at age 6 promised not to see each other again for 10 years until she fulfilled her dream of becoming an idol. Both did reunite at age 16, but after she stood up in front of an armed terrorist.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Being one of the closest people in Kensei's life earlier on, Minako also became his first fiancée.
- Divine Parentage: Due to unique circumstances where Minako was transferred into the womb of the goddess Sakuya-hime, she could be considered her second mother, resulting in her inheriting the goddess' divine powers.
- Green Thumb / Blow You Away / Shock and Awe: As a member of the Kushihashi Clan, Minako can use the Wood Phase among the Five Elements, letting her create and control wind and lightning including everything related to "Wood" such as plants.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Due to Minako's conception being completed in the womb of a Goddess, she was born a Half-Godess.
- Hybrid Power: Having a Shinto Goddess as a surrogate mother, Minako inherited her divine abilities, but were sealed to keep this fact from being known around the Five Principal Clans.
- Idol Singer: She is an upcoming famous idol known as "Sakura-hime".
- Semi-Divine: Because Minako's mother almost had a miscarriage, Sakuya-hime offered to transfer the unborn daughter into herself to further her development and birth her, resulting in her being born a half-goddess.
Kunou
Kunou is one of the female protagonists of the story. Born as the daughter of Yasaka, the current Queen of Kyoto Youkai, making her the princess and future Queen and an unnamed father. She later became the second fiancée of Kensei Amagiri and moved to Kibou Town into the Amagiri Residence.
She now attends Kibou Academy as a first-year student and is a member of the Public Morals Committee. Kunou is known as one of the two Great Kibou Princesses known as the Cheerful Fox.
- Affectionate Nickname: She calls Kensei "Ken-nii". Later at The Kibou Alliance, she calls him "Ken-chan".
- Age Lift: In DxD canon Kunou is a first-year middle school student (as of Volume 22) making her around 11 or 12 when first introduced. Here, she's 15 by the time the story catches up to DxD canon.
- Asian Fox Spirit: Kitsune, and possesses the ability to shapeshift.
Lu Lingqi
Lingqi is one of the female protagonists of the story. Born as the eldest child of Lu Han and Lu Fei; the older sister of Lu Jing, Lu Jingyi, Lu Cheng, and Lu Chao. She is a martial artist of the White Tiger Sect and a member of the Main Lu House.
At age 13, Lingqi left home on a mission to defeat the Warlord, Wu Jun, traveling and training for the next couple of years, where she soon became a member of the Hero Faction. However, she left after realizing the evil intentions behind their mission to defeat supernatural beings.
- Affectionate Nickname: Jeanne calls her "Rei-chan", a real unique name considering the Japanese romanization of her name is "Reiki".
- Big Sister Instinct: Same with Kensei, do not touch her brothers or sister, she doesn't care if you're a dangerous warlord.
- Child Prodigy: Lingqi is as talented a martial artist as Kensei is, as she became a Top Disciple among the White Tiger Sect at 13. It was the main test for her to be sent after Wu Jun.
- Cool Big Sis: She is an older sister to triplet brothers and a younger sister, all of whom look up to her as a martial artist and sister.
- Lightning Bruiser: Despite her feminine and slim frame, Lingqi has a combination of high strength, speed, and endurance. It was first noted as she took on Heracles head-on despite their different frames, and endured the explosions from his Variant Detonation.
- Sixth Ranger: She is the literal sixth member of the Sword Team and sixth residence of the Amagiri Residence.
- Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Her Sacred Gear, Spiritus Armiger creates a weapon from her soul, taking the form of gauntlets and greaves, Shimon Mouko (Four Gates, Fierce Tiger).
- Supernatural Martial Arts: She practices an ancient martial art, named Byakko Kenpo, which emulates a mythical tiger, rather than a normal one.
- Tiger Versus Dragon: Lingqi is the Tiger and Kensei is the Dragon.
Lancelot Team
Maria Lancelot
Maria Lancelot is a descendant of the Strongest Knight, Lancelot Du Lac. After Maria was later kidnapped and brought to Hagun Island, where she met Layla and Iris.
At Kibou Academy, she is a second-year student, and the Student Council President, known as the number one beauty, one of the three Great Kibou Queens and Titania.
- Cool Big Sis: Maria became a big sister for both Layla and Iris, a Humanoid Dragon, acting as their initial emotional support.
- Dual Wielding: In the majority of battles and sparring matches, Maria wields dual-wielding Holy Swords created by her "Blade Blacksmith".
- Elemental Powers: "Blade Blacksmith" can create Holy Swords that can have many elemental properties.

- Knight in Shining Armor: Maria is almost the complete definition of the Knight archetype, loyal, honorable, courageous, and a masterful swordswoman. She gave Layla and Iris a place where the two could belong after being abandoned and was often considered an ideal woman by men and women alike.
- Master Swordswoman: She is an adept swordswoman who received instruction from her older brother, able to kill several monsters on Hagun Island, and deflect light arrows Jason aimed at her. In later volumes, she's able to fight on par with Siegfried in her own Balance Breaker, even though the latter also uses Balance Breaker, in addition five Demon Swords and Light Sword.
- Onee-sama: Along with Alice and Hisui, she's referred to as one of the "Three Great Ladies of Kibou Academy".
- School Idol: Maria is seen as the number one idol in the school.
Layla Caldwell
Layla Caldwell was one of the children's captives on Human Island. She viewed Maria Lancelot as an "older sister" and lived in Residential Area C in the same home as Maria and Iris. Layla has later assisted in the "Hagun Island Rebellion", succeeding in regaining their freedom, and now lives in Kibou Town with Maria and Iris.
She is a second-year student at Kibou Academy, becoming a member of the Student Council as the Secretary, and later the Vice President.
- An Ice Person: Her Sacred Gear, Glacier Trident, can generate and manipulate ice. Her Balance Breaker: "Glacial Knight Trident" takes the form of light blue armor and her spear takes a more modified form resembling a dragon and her ice powers grow even more powerful.
Iris Caldwell
Iris (alias "Iris Caldwell") is part of the Second Generation of the Sigurd Institute Researchers' attempt to make strong Exorcists before the others were scrapped. She escaped only to be captured and sent to Hagun Island, where she met her adoptive older sisters Maria and Layla.
Iris is a first-year student at Kibou Academy, becoming a member of the Student Council as the Secretary.
- Artificial Human: Like Freed, Siegfried, Lint, and Sigmund, she was made from different patterns of the genetics of those who carried the blood of the original Siegfried to use Gram. Unlike them, though, she also has genetic material from Fafnir, making her a humanoid dragon.
- Draconic Humanoid: She was created using the genetic material from dragons, due to the legends about the original Siegfried drinking and bathing in dragon blood from one of the Dragon Kings, Fafnir.
Alexander Hayward
Alexander Hayward is a member of the Kibou Alliance and part of the Lancelot Team.
Alexander is a first-year student at Kibou Academy, becoming a member of the Student Council as its Treasurer.
Jade Team
Hisui Aozaki was one of the children captive on Hagun Island. She is a Nekoshou, a rare species of Nekomata, and a former captive on Hagun Island before being freed, and is now living with her best friend and roommate, Rui Kagami. She's also one of Kensei's fiancées.
Hisui is a second-year student at Kibou Academy, she is also the Chief of the Newspaper Club, with Rui Kagami as her Vice-Chief.
- Affectionate Nickname: She likes to call Kensei "Ken Ken".
- Bakeneko and Nekomata: She is a Nekoshou, a rare species of Nekomata.
- The Tease: Especially to Claire and Kensei.
Rui Kagami
Rui Kagami is a tanuki and one of the captives on Hagun Island living in Residential Area B with her best friend/roommate, Hisui Aozaki.
Rui is a second-year student at Kibou Academy and one of the most prominent members of the Newspaper Club, where she became the Vice-Chief.
Grimoire Team
Zane Wayland
Zane Wayland is the descendent of the master blacksmith, Wayland the Smith. Zane was later kidnapped and brought to Hagun Island where he encountered Kensei Amagiri who had soon become his closest friend and comrade.
Zane is a second-year student at Kibou Academy, is the Computer Club's President.
- Best Friend: Zane is one of Kensei's best friends, at first, was his sole male best friend.
- The Blacksmith: An upcoming blacksmith, Zane has designed and built a wide arrange of weapons and other innovations for his friends and allies.
- The Strategist: Described as the best tactician to the Kensei's group. He could think of multiple strategies and possible outcomes if something were to go wrong.
Lena Ellsworth
Lena Ellsworth is a dark elf who worked alongside the Valkyrie Squad Captain, Brynhildr as an assistant, but was later sent to Kibou Town as a mediator between them and the Norse World.
Lena is a second-year student at Kibou Academy and joined the Computer Club as its member.
- Our Elves Are Different: Differing from other elves, she's a dark elf.
Others
Abigail Clark
Abigail Clark is one of the rare "Miracle Children", the half-breed children of angels who maintained their pure status. She was also one of the people kidnapped and brought onto Hagun Island, but was later freed due to the rebellion caused by Kensei and the others.
Abigail attended Kibou Academy as a third-year student before graduating and attended a well-respected college, where she also graduated from.
- Cool Big Sis: Acted as one of the younger kids on Hagun Island.
- Light 'em Up: As a half-angel, she can use Light to create weapons to fight with.
