Halloween Town

    General
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: While they generally mean well, their mindset revolves around Halloween and fear; notably, they see scaring people as normal, but want their scares to be pure harmless fun. They're appalled when people scare others out of genuine wickedness, especially with intent to actually harm.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The residents of Halloween Town, up to its ruler, Queen Midnight Spookle, love scaring people. But they genuinely mean no harm and only want to scare in good fun. Halloween Town also has its fair share of heroes, like the Spooky Six, which is led by Midnight Spookle and whose members are based on archetypical Halloween characters like a scarecrow (Pumpkin Jack), a witch (Midnight Spookle), a ghost (Ghostly Pie), a vampire (Flutterfang), a devil (Rainbow Inferno), and a Mad Scientist (Rare Discovery).
  • Halloween Town: Halloween Town is actually a realm centered around its namesake holiday, populated by creatures associated with Halloween with scares (and fun!) abound. Despite this, the populace are generally harmless and only live up to the spirit of Halloween itself. Their ruler is the equally impish yet benevolent Queen Midnight Spookle, an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dark Magic and Halloween, among other things.

Spooky Six

    General

    Midnight Spookle, the Pumpkin Queen

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant, Alternate Self

Portfolio: Dark Magic, Halloween, Celebration, Understanding

Rank: Divine (Tier I/Godling)

Queen Midnight Spookle (first introduced here) is the Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic, Halloween, Celebration, and Understanding, and is an alternative version of Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle who is a beloved heroine and ruler of Halloween Town.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dark Magic, Halloween, Celebration, and Understanding.
  • Alternate Self: She's a version of Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle who lives in a world that's populated by creatures based on and/or associated with various holidays and traditions. Specifically, she lives in and rules over Halloween Town as its Queen, and is her home's resident goddess of Dark Magic and Halloween.
  • The Anti-Grinch: She tried hijacking Solsmas by kidnapping Santa Hooves so she could do her version of it, but she only did so because she was essentially experiencing Halloween burnout and wanted to try something new. Unfortunately, her limited understanding of Solsmas itself spelled disaster for everyone and caused Santa Hooves to run afoul of Pitch, who would later become her Arch-Enemy.
  • The Archmage: Like her Codexverse counterpart, she was a dark magic prodigy in her youth, catching the eye of Lune, who became her mentor. When she Ascended to godhood, she became a goddess of Dark Magic, among other things.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: She's the ruling Queen of Halloween Town, and she's a powerful Alicorn goddess who is a prodigy in dark magic and all things scary.
  • Blessed with Suck: Despite being a famous heroine and celebrity in Halloween Town, she eventually became tired of the same old tricks. The entire reason why she kidnapped Santa Hooves in the first place is because she wanted to try something new.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: She's a benevolent, heroic, and fun-loving mare and Queen with good intentions, but her way of thinking revolves around Halloween and (harmlessly) scaring people. She hijacked Solsmas because she was bored with Halloween and wanted to try something new, but her limited understanding of Solsmas itself created disaster for everyone, endangered Halloween Town, and caused Santa Hooves to run afoul of her future Arch-Enemy, Pitch.
  • Broken Ace: She may be a prodigy in dark magic and all things scary, but at one point, she was so utterly bored with Halloween that she kidnapped Santa Hooves from Solsmas Town just to try something new for once. It led to disaster for both Solsmas Town and Halloween Town, and in scrambling to fix her mistakes, she ended up fighting Pitch to save Santa Claus and Halloween Town. She ends up gaining a better understanding and appreciation of Halloween once everything's said and done.
  • Composite Character: While she's obviously based on Twilight Sparkle, she also has strong elements of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, as her antics in trying to hijack Solsmas out of sheer boredom (and the disastrous consequences that followed) is very similar to what happened in the movie.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Like her mortal Halloween Town subjects, she enjoys scaring others, but only does so for harmless fun and wants people to enjoy her scares, too. Even after becoming a goddess of Dark Magic and Halloween, this never changed. She assures her Codexverse counterpart, Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria, that she means no harm after pranking her.
    Queen Midnight Spookle: BOO!
    Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: AAAAAH!!!
Queen Midnight Spookle: Gotcha! Don't worry, we mean you no harm. Right, girls?
    Spooky Six: Yeah!
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was originally a mortal yet magically talented Pony who eventually Ascended to godhood as an Alicorn after saving Santa Hooves and Halloween Town from Pitch.
  • The High Queen: After Ascending to godhood and becoming Queen of Halloween Town, she would go on to become a beloved ruler for her subjects.
  • The Leader: She's the leader of the Spooky Six, a heroic group of mares that consists of her best friends, and serves as the Holiday 'verse's counterpart of the Codexverse's Mane Six.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Pumpkin Queen".
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She is horrified upon seeing her actions in kidnapping Santa Hooves and hijacking Christmas screwed things up for everyone, and she scrambled to fix her mistake.
  • Winged Unicorn: She becomes an Alicorn goddess after Ascending to godhood following her first battle with Pitch.
  • Wowing Cthulhu: She managed to impress Lune, the Holiday universe's resident Moon goddess, by creating Frankenspike, influencing Lune to take her in as her student.

    Rainbow Inferno, the Loyal Devil

Ghostly Pie, the Spirit of Laughter

    Pumpkin Jack, the Honest Scarecrow

    Flutterfang, the Kind Vampire

    Rare Discovery, the Generous Scientist

Other Residents

    Frankenspike
Frankenspike (first introduced here) is a living patchwork dragon created by a then-mortal Queen Midnight Spookle, as well as her adoptive little brother.

    Full Howl
Full Howl (first introduced here) is a ghost owl who currently serves as an assistant and familiar of Queen Midnight Spookle.
  • Alternate Self: Of Owlowiscious, Twilight Sparkle's pet owl.
  • Punny Name: According to one of the Codexverse writers, his name is a pun on "full throttle".

    Haunted Armor, the Darkness Redeemed

Classification: Ascendant/Elemental/Ethereal, Eldritch, Alternate Self

Portfolio: Darkness, Fear, Protection, Dimensions

Rank: Divine (Tier ???)

Haunted Armor (first introduced here) is the eldritch Alicorn god of Darkness, Fear, Protection, and Dimensions, and the older brother of Queen Midnight Spookle.
  • Alternate Self: He's an alternate version of Shining Armor who grew up in Halloween Town and has a spooky name like his sister.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Much like what happened to Dr. Endless Dreams in the Codexverse, he turns into an eldritch Alicorn god himself by defeating and assimilating the Child of Nightmare that possessed him through sheer force of will. Despite his transformation, he more or less remained himself besides having a bit of an "edge" to him.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: After defeating a Child of Nightmare in a Battle in the Center of the Mind and assimilating it entirely, he would become an eldritch Alicorn god who embodies Darkness, Fear, Protection, and Dimensions.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: After getting possessed by a Child of Nightmare and used as a host to murder his own squadron (among others), he proceeds to fight back through sheer force of will, eventually defeating the Child by assimilating them into himself. This makes him Ascend into an eldritch god with a bit of an "edge", but is still himself more or less.
  • The Captain: He once served as the Captain of the Halloween Guard, which is similar to Shining Armor's position of Captain of the Canterlot Royal Guard. He retired when he Ascended to godhood, after which he is succeeded by Captain Dark Lantern, one of his former subordinates.
  • Cool Big Sis: Gender-inverted. It's implied that like his mainline counterpart, he's close to his younger sister, Midnight Spookle, with her calling him her "B.B.B.F.F.". This presumably didn't change even after he became an eldritch god.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He became an eldritch Alicorn god of Darkness, Fear, and Dimensions after assimilating a Child of Nightmare into himself. Despite everyone assuming the worst, he more or less stayed the same noble, protective stallion he was before his Ascension, aside from a slight 'edge' to his personality. This is symbolized by his domain of Protection.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was originally a mortal Pony, but later he Ascended to godhood by confronting a Child of Nightmare, fighting it from the inside after it possessed him, and then assimilating it wholly into himself to protect everyone.
  • Demonic Possession: While fighting a Child of Nightmare, he ends up possessed by it and is Forced to Watch as the Child slaughters everyone in its path, including his own squadron. He gets out of it by fighting the Child from the inside and assimilating it into himself through sheer force of will, Ascending to godhood in the process.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Just like Dr. Endless Dreams, he overcame and assimilated the Child of Nightmare that was possessing him into himself through sheer force of will, Ascending to godhood in the process. And because the Children of Nightmare are living fragments of a dead goddess, assimilating one technically made him the good reincarnation of Pitch.
  • Eldritch Transformation: Defeating and assimilating a Child of Nightmare into himself not only triggered his Ascension, but also transformed him into an eldritch Alicorn god.
  • A Father to His Men: What pushed him to fight back against the Child of Nightmare possessing him was how he was being used as a murder instrument by his possessor to slaughter his own squadron.
  • Four-Star Badass: He was The Captain of the Halloween Guard, the closest Halloween Town had to a military, and his deeds made him a Living Legend. He Took a Level in Badass by defeating and absorbing a Child of Nightmares when it possessed him, though after that he retired and was succeeeded by one of his former subordinates, Captain Dark Lantern.
  • Happily Married: Much like Shining Armor and Cadence, he is happily married to Cadence's Holiday counterpart, Queen Amour of Hearts and Hooves Day Town. Even after his Ascension, this didn't change at all, and they're even expecting a child.
  • Humble Hero: Despite being a hero to Halloween Town, he is satisfied with being a Captain of the Halloween Guard and acknowledges his younger sister, Midnight Spookle, as the better mage. After Midnight Ascended to godhood and became Queen of Halloween Town, he faithfully served under her. This likely didn't change after he Ascended himself.
  • Living Legend: He became renowned for his heroic deeds during his time as Captain of the Halloween Guard. He presumably became even more of a legend when he managed to Ascend to godhood by defeating and absorbing a Child of Nightmare that was possessing him through Heroic Willpower.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Darkness Redeemed".
  • Meaningful Name: "Haunted Armor" is what you'd expect from a version of Shining Armor who lives in Halloween Town. True to form, his favorite way to scare people is animating a suit of armor and make it appear that it's haunted.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He was the Captain of the Halloween Guard and became a Living Legend for his many deeds. He retired after Ascending to godhood and gave his blessings to Captain Dark Lantern to succeed him, though he never lost the "Asskicking" part of the trope.
  • Reincarnation: Because the Children of Nightmares are living fragments of Pitch, a Fallen goddess, he technically reincarnates as Pitch by assimilating one into himself, becoming the divine embodiment of all that she failed to be as goddess and former ruler of Halloween Town.
  • Winged Unicorn: Like Midnight Spookle, he became an Alicorn after Ascending to godhood, except he becomes an eldritch one due to assimilating a Child of Nightmare into himself.

    Captain Dark Lantern

  • Alternate Self: He's an alternate version of Flash Sentry who grew up in Halloween Town.
  • The Captain: He took over as Captain of the Halloween Guard after Haunted Armor's Ascension and subsequent retirement.
  • Four-Star Badass: As the Halloween Guard is Halloween Town's closest equivalent to a military, he counts as this. Notably, his predecessor, Haunted Armor, who happens to be a Living Legend and an eldritch Ascendant god, gave him his blessing to succeed him upon retiring, which says something about his skills and overall competence.

Solsmas Town

    General
  • Christmas Town: As indicated by the name, Solsmas is a Christmas-themed town with its principle deity/ruler being the Holiday 'verse's version of Santa Hooves.

    Santa Hooves

Classification: [TBA]

Portfolio: [TBA]

Rank: Divine (Tier ???)

Hearts and Hooves Day Town

    General

    Queen Amour

Classification: Ascendant, Alternate Self

Portfolio: Love, [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier ???)

  • Happily Married: Much like Cadence and Shining Armor, she is happily married to Shining Armor's Holiday counterpart, Haunted Armor of Halloween Town. Even after her husband's eldritch Ascension, this didn't change at all, and they're even expecting a child.

Other residents

    Pitch, the Host of Nightmares

Classification: Fallen

Portfolio: [TBA]

Rank: Divine (Tier ???)

Soleia, the Mare in the Sun

  • Big Good: As the Holiday universe's resident Sun goddess, she serves as a force of benevolence for the entire setting.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "sun" in French. According to one of the Codexverse writers, her name being in French was specifically chosen to differentiate her from her Codexverse counterpart, Celestia, who has a Latin name.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. She shares her name with Princess Soleia, the Alicorn goddess of Summer and leader of the Kaluan Pantheon from the Codexverse.

Lune, the Mare in the Moon

  • Big Good: As the Holiday universe's resident Moon goddess, she serves as a force of benevolence for the entire setting. Notably, her decision to take in Midnight Spookle as her student eventually led to the latter Ascending to godhood and becoming Queen of Halloween Town.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "moon" in French. According to one of the Codexverse writers, her name being in French was specifically chosen to differentiate her from her Codexverse counterpart, Luna, who has a Latin name.
  • Mentor Archetype: She became the mentor of a then-mortal Midnight Spookle after the latter created Frankenspike. Her tutelage contributed to Midnight Spookle's eventual Ascension as a goddess.
