    8-Ball
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8ball_teamicon.png
"I don't have a favorite number, I really don't."
BFB Rank: 61st
Team: A Better Name Than That (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Cary Huang
An eight-ball from a pool table with no limbs, who gets around by rolling. 8-Ball speaks in a monotone voice and is constantly assuring his peers that he doesn't have a favorite number.
  • Cannot Convey Sarcasm: In BFB 4 8-Ball reveals that every time he said the opposite of what Golf Ball told their team to do, it was supposed to be in a sarcastic tone.
  • Commander Contrarian: Frequently tells the rest of his team to do the opposite of what Golf Ball tells them to do, but he's actually trying to be sarcastic and means no malice to her.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: While nowhere to the extents of other examples of this trope, his elimination can come off as this. After he’s voted off the show, Donut traps him in between the moon and the Earth, then turns the gravity back on so the moon slowly crushes him to death. Thankfully, it’s not permanent.
  • The Leader: Replaces Golf Ball as the team leader after leading his team to victory in BFB 1.
  • The Load: He stalls the team in BFB 4 by unintentionally making them waste time throughout the entire challenge.
  • Machine Monotone: Speaks in this tone of voice, making him come off as emotionless and overly stoic. This makes him unable to use sarcasm properly since whenever he told his team to do the opposite of whatever Golf Ball said, they thought he was being sincere.
  • Mighty Glacier: 8-Ball can painlessly break open a giant jawbreaker simply by chomping down on it. However, due to having no limbs, he has to roll around to move.
  • Not So Stoic: At the end of BFB 4, he drops his monotone voice and breaks down crying while explaining his failure to convey sarcasm to Golf Ball.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Constantly denies having a favorite number. It’s become a Character Catchphrase of sorts.

    Balloony
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/balloony_teamicon.png
"Who doesn't love salt and vinegar?"
BFB Rank: 15th
Team: BEEP (BFB 1-16), Have Cots (BFB 17-18)
Voiced by: Cary Huang (BFDI), Satomi Hinatsu (BFB-present)
A latex balloon on a string. He serves as something of a father figure his teammates, and while he can be a bit stern at times, he’s genuinely goodhearted and willing to help out whenever he can.
  • The Chew Toy: Surprisingly averted; he's one of the few "fragile" characters who isn't constantly bullied by the others, and is instead seen as a fatherly figure to his team.
  • Conflict Ball: In BFB 17, the only thing he really does (outside of getting four fingers getting pulled out of his hand by Four) is clash with Leafy and remind her that she killed him back in BFB 2. This might have factored into his elimination in the next episode as the rest of his teammates are considerably more popular than him.
  • Cool Big Bro: Seems to act like this to Rocky, who he refers to as “little one.”
  • The Heart: A friendly guy who loves to help out his teammates when he can and is respected greatly in return. Cloudy laments in BFB 10 that being deceased through the previous three episodes has had a major impact on their team and their success.
  • Insistent Terminology: He refers to vomit as "salt and vinegar", but as an endearing slang term. Would vomit really be that appetizing in the first place?
  • Team Dad: Acts a lot like this, often scolding his teammates for being uncooperative or reckless, but he’s a very Nice Guy overall and cares a lot for Rocky.

    Bracelety
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bracelety_teamicon.png
"Yeah! Go Ice Cube! You can do it!"
BFB Rank: 64th
Team: Team Ice Cube! (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Cary Huang
An excitable silicone bracelet. Energetic and very loud, Bracelety has an obsession with fellow contestant Ice Cube to the point of coming off as annoying to some of her peers.
  • Ascended Fangirl: She was originally a minor recommended character who supported and idolized Ice Cube before she joined the game officially in BFB. Unfortunately, she misses out on the chance to be in the same team as her at the last minute.
  • Favouritism Flip-Flop: When she arrived at EXIT, and is informed of Loser's lying, she says that she doesn't hate him until 8-Ball states that Ice Cube hates Loser, and she changed her mind and says that Loser sucks after all.
  • Genki Girl: Incredibly hyperactive and loud, especially when Ice Cube is involved.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: After being eliminated, a picture of her and Ice Cube surrounded by hearts is featured among one of the teams' art projects.
  • The Millstone: She outright admits that she'd prefer to help Bleh win challenges because it's the team Ice Cube is on.
  • No Indoor Voice: She yells a lot.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Currently holds the record for the least amount of episodes participated in at three, as she was the first of BFB's newcomers to be eliminated.

    Firey Jr.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fireyjr_teamicon.png
"You know, I'm not too sure about this, but I think, maybe, there's just a chance, that you're an idiot."
BFB Rank: 57th
Team: Team Ice Cube! (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Satomi Hinatsu
A flame who, for whatever reason, heavily resembles and sounds like Firey. However, what makes them different is that Firey Jr. is more insensitive.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: He can be very insensitive and obnoxious at his worst, which is demonstrated in BFB 12, when, in an attempt to find the imposter, he badmouths his teammates throughout the entire challenge.
  • Brutal Honesty: One of his main traits is how he doesn't hesitate to say exactly what he thinks.
  • Inexplicably Identical Individuals: Is literally just a smaller version of Firey. Whether or not they’re related is currently unknown, but they have never interacted even once.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He told Spongy that airplanes couldn't sail in water. He’s not wrong.
    • It's a lot of his character in general. Sure, he could stand to be less blunt, but he isn't really wrong either.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he is generally insensitive and sometimes bratty, he is a lot more caring towards Bomby and Spongy, his friends.
  • The Napoleon: He is a smaller version of Firey, but is much more blunt and insensitive.
  • Out of Focus: He, like Naily, had barely had any focus in the series until BFB 12.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The bold and napoleon manly man to Bomby's easily scared and Spongy's Gentle Giant sensitive guys.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: BFB 12 is when we saw Firey Jr's attitude. As a character not really shown to do much before, this might as well be an Establishing Character Moment.

    Liy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/liy_teamicon.png
"Why won't anybody support me?"
BFB Rank: 63rd
Team: Death P.A.C.T. (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Sabrina Barba
A plastic light switch. She can be bossy and self-centered, but she’s curious at heart and had a dark past she wants to atone for.
  • Arch-Nemesis: She’s involved in a feud with Foldy and Stapy for a currently unexplained reason. However, as of BFB 16, her feud with Stapy seems to have been settled. They've found the common goal of escaping EXIT. Whether their rivalry will flare back up is unknown.
  • The Atoner: She wants to atone for her dark past and instead of killing people, she now wants to save lives and change for the better.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It is implied that she was a serial killer in the past and wants to atone for this.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: She does not take her elimination well, complaining that out of everyone in Death P.A.C.T., she saved the most lives.
  • Fantastic Racism: Believes she knows better than Clock because she's a light switch and he isn't.
  • Innocently Insensitive: She doesn’t seem to know that her actions tend to hurt others, such as when she uses Ice Cube to forcefully get Teardrop to speak and when she climbs Bell without her consent. This is further characterized by her innocent-sounding voice.
  • Insane Troll Logic: How does she try to get Teardrop to talk? She holds her mouth open while another participant wiggles her vocal cords so they make noise. It doesn’t work.
  • It's All About Me: Complains about not having enough supporters in BFB 11.
Liy: Why won't anybody support me?
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While she isn’t exactly the friendliest, she does want to help prevent death and create trust among the contestants.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She forces Ice Cube to help her make Teardrop talk against her will, even though Ice Cube herself isn’t willing to do so.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Parodied on Death P.A.C.T. Although she wants to save lives, she killed someone before, and is the only one to intentionally do so. How she acts at her elimination only exemplifies this.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: She gives this to her team when she's eliminated, due to how she saved the most lives and doesn't get support.

    Lollipop
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lollipop_teamicon.png
"Clearly, you... don't understand market forces."
BFB Rank: 5th
Team: Team Bleh (BFB 1-16), Have Cots (BFB 17-24)
Voiced by: Cary Huang (BFDIA), Sam Lee (BFB-present)
An arrogant grape-flavored lollipop. She’s generally snooty and looks down on the other contestants, but she has enough intellect to develop her own products.
  • The Alliance: Currently in an alliance with Gelatin and Teardrop.
  • Alpha Bitch: Aside from Pencil, she’s the cattiest female contestant.
  • Ambiguously Gay: In BFB 20, in response to Bubble stating that "it's an alliance member's duty to give other members air" by blowing air into them using a straw if they're suffocating:
Lollipop: Care to give me some air? No straw needed.
    Bubble: LOLLY!
  • Arch-Nemesis: Barf Bag in the earlier episodes of BFB.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She has her moments, especially towards Barf Bag in the earlier episodes.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite her sarcastic nature, she is ethical and prefers for pranks to be both harmless and funny, as seen in her conversation with Woody in BFB 25.
  • Insufferable Genius: Very much so. She’s intelligent enough to create fork repellent, but she’s arrogant and prone to judging others based on their appearance.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Due to her alliance, Lollipop (a BFB newbie) became close friends with Gelatin (a BFDIA newbie) and Teardrop (a BFDI veteran).
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • She's very judgemental and rude, insulting Barf Bag by claiming that the vomit molecules inside of her have infected her brain and therefore makes her stupid, and tries to make her look like she doesn't care about the issue by forcefully wiggling her arms when she presents proof that her intelligence isn't being affected. She also is very mean towards Leafy and ignores her even when she tries to speak. However, she gradually becomes less unpleasant as the series progresses. While she’s still a bit arrogant, she’s more willing to get involved in her fellow contestant’s shenanigans and forms a genuine friendship with Teardrop and Gelatin.
    • Unlike the rest of her team, Lollipop has realized the truth behind Taco’s supposed “betrayal” and sticks up for her in BFB 12.
    • She is also more ethical in pranking and tells Woody that her prank against Four had no one get hurt.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: During BFB 4, the only time that this invention and its antics were ever onscreen, the fork repellent is actually made to make the forks attracted to Four. She sprayed them on Death P.A.C.T because they're the primary target for Gelatin to throw forks at. When Four was hit with them, they blamed it on Gelatin. During the challenge, the repellent went as far as making all of the forks attracted to Four, distracting Death P.A.C.T from the challenge into protecting Four from them, until the last minute. She might be trying to take advantage of that team's overly pacifist and protective nature. They eventually lost the challenge, but for a different reason.
  • Nerdy Bully: She is as intelligent as arrogant and judgmental, and frequently gets into fights with Barf Bag, just because she is a barf bag. She also is not so nice to Leafy and even scolds her for even the most pettiest of reasons.
  • The Nicknamer: Refers to her fellow contestants with nicknames-examples include “Bagel Brain” for Donut, “Sport Globules” for Tennis Ball and Golf Ball, and “Little Gray Zig-zag” for Saw.
  • Not So Above It All: She laughed hysterically when Donut called himself "Bagel Brain," something that she calls him.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: See Jerk with a Heart of Gold above.

    Loser
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/loser_teamicon.png
"Well, I know I can. I got my supporters."
BFB Rank: 12th
Team: The Losers! (BFB 1-16), Have Nots (BFB 17-BFB 21)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A charismatic ivory cube that speaks in a low, raspy voice. Loser is very popular among the other contestants, and always tries to do what's right no matter what, though he also enjoys the attention.
  • The Ace: He's probably a Parody Stu given how much he is idolized, but Loser is by far the most skilled member of his team.
  • Broken Pedestal: Lying about loving to play with poppers when he was younger seems to have soured most of the contestants' opinion of him. He regained his popularity following his rejoining, only for the others to immediately stop wanting to associate with him the moment he's eliminated again.
  • The Bus Came Back: Is the only eliminated contestant who successfully manages to escape EXIT through Spongy in BFB 16.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Suffers his first death by being burned by the sun in BFB 19.
  • Fate Worse than Death: At the end of BFB 7, he is trapped in an inverted jawbreaker and flying in space. Four rescues him in BFB 10, but it's revealed in BFB 16 that he could've broken out at any time and simply didn't because he was too engrossed in reading Donut's diary.
  • The Heart: Seems to be this among the contestants. This is evident after his elimination when several of them begin to go rogue during the episode’s challenge.
  • Hidden Depths: In BFB 17, he's secretly afraid of his fans doubting him.
  • Insane Troll Logic: In BFB 17, his strategy for retrieving X is to spit on the ground so “X marks the spot.” Nobody buys it.
  • Ironic Name: Treated with respect by most of the cast, despite his name. At least until BFB 7.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: While a lot of characters rely on him for support, Cake relies on him the most and has trouble doing a lot of things without him, which is evident after his elimination.
  • Loved by All: He gained attention and love from all the other contestants, who thought he was charming and intelligent. Some of his fans, such as Clock and Cake, wanted to be on the same team with him, and they were accepted in the team, which was named "The Losers", after him. Subverted in episode 7, where Fanny recognized that Loser used to play with eye poppers all the time, even though they had been invented only an hour ago. This resulted in Loser being either loved or hated by the contestants.
  • Non-Indicative Name: One of the few characters who isn’t named after what object they are. Loser is a golden cube, previously used in the first season to represent members of a losing team. His substance, however, is known as "loser" in-universe.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: Loser is one of the smaller contestants, but in BFB 1, he lifts a large basket that is trapping part of his team.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Introduced out of nowhere in BFB, the only newcomer to not have been established as a recommended character or used in a video beforehand.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chicken nuggets.

    Roboty
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roboty_teamicon.png
"-... . . .—."
BFB Rank: 62nd
Team: BEEP (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: SCPhillips Morse Code Renderer Noise
A giant limbless metal robot. Roboty speaks in morse code and is not well understood by others. He is connected to a mysterious waterfall.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Some of his lines are subtitled, but next to none of them are actually accurate to what he's saying.
  • Hidden Depths: If his lines are anything to go by, he apparently hates himself, and also judging by him attempting to move off the waterfall while saying "Finally, I'm at peace.", he seems to be suicidal.
  • Stone Wall: Roboty is basically immobile, has no limbs to do anything with... and is still perfectly functional after a giant jawbreaker crushes him. He even self-repairs from his crushed state after getting his prize in BFB 3's cake at stake, though how much of that was actually him is unspecified. He is also fireproof, as Firey Jr was able to stand on him in BFB 16 without harming him.
  • The Load: Is largely useless in challenges due to a lack of limbs, snail-tier mobility, and inability to speak human language, not at all helped by him constantly teleporting off to parts unknown during challenges.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Twice in BFB. The first instance is during the second challenge when he tries to get away from Leafy’s obsessive micromanaging, and the second is after he’s eliminated.
  • Terse Talker: Because of how long that each letter is in audio length in Morse code, his dialogue needs to be as short as possible to stay around as long as normal speech.
  • The Unintelligible: Double subverted - Balloony understands his speech in BFB 3, but Leafy misunderstands him in BFB 1.

    Stapy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stapy_teamicon.png
"Sorry! My stapler instincts just took over!"
BFB Rank: 60th
Team: Free Food (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Sam Lee
A stapler. He’s generally mellow and friendly and is good friends with Foldy and Marker, but he has a lazy streak and is quick to deflect blame.
  • Arch-Enemy: Stapy and Liy mutually hate each other for reasons unknown. However, they seem to have found common ground in BFB 16.
  • Big Brother Mentor: To Firey Jr. He advised him not to go through Spongy as he could burn. However, he allowed him to go through later on and apologized for it.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: With Foldy and Marker.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: He uses a fake buzzer to put iance up for elimination in BFB 8, but Match catches footage of him cheating and Donut promptly puts Free Food up for elimination instead. This is what got him eliminated.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Despite knowing the answers to the questions in the quiz show challenge, Stapy wastes time making a fake buzzer when he could have easily won if he didn't try and cheat.
  • Escalating War: Triggers a massive feud between iance and Free Food when he decides to spend the entirety of BFB 8's challenge constructing a false buzzer to cheat his way to victory at iance's expense, only thwarted by Match showing Donut the footage. Stapy is eliminated, Foldy seeks revenge on iance upon doing so and prevents Flower from completing BFB 11's challenge, and then Ruby unfolds her to get back at her team being UFE.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Although he loves playing dirt games with Marker, like Toss the Dirt, he draws the line when it comes to Eat the Dirt.
  • Mighty Glacier: Admits to being one of the heaviest contestants. In order to move, he has to leap around due to his weight and lack of legs.
  • Never My Fault: If he does something wrong, intentionally or otherwise, expect him to blame it on his “stapler instincts”, even if it has nothing to do with mistaken stapling or anything.
  • Nice Guy: He is this most of the time. He is good friends with Marker and Foldy and even shows a protective streak towards Foldy as revealed in BFB 1.
  • Surfer Dude: Speaks in this tone. His chill attitude also contributes to this.
  • Totally Radical: Has the voice, personality, and language of it.

    Taco
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taco_teamicon.png
"Please hang out with me!"
BFB Rank: 11th
Team: Team Bleh (BFB 1-16), Have Nots (BFB 17-22)
Voiced by: Kenzie Bryant
A fish taco. She's competitive and strong-willed, though this doesn't always benefit her and throughout the first half of BFB, she's the subject of drama among her teammates.
  • And I Must Scream: As a result of Nickel telling David to stop licking the last jawbreaker after BEEP loses, Taco is trapped in said jawbreaker for several weeks. Sound can pass into it but not out of it, leaving her at the mercy of her team with no way to inform them of her whereabouts, and is forced to eat her own fillings to avoid starvation.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: She may be tough and foolhardy, but she’s genuinely hurt and gets emotional when she overhears Book lamenting her supposedly abandoning Bleh.
  • Cosmic Plaything: Temporarily becomes this, being ignored and mistreated by her own team after Book's conclusion that she abandoned them, although Book couldn't hear her when she was trapped inside a jawbreaker, since the material only lets sound come in and not out.
  • Determinator: She makes her teammates run through a scorching desert, the world’s largest oven, and molten lava just to retrieve a basket for the first challenge. She dies in the process, but it saves them from elimination in the end.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: She remains trapped in a jawbreaker for the entirety of Episode 3’s challenge, but her teammates are unable to hear her pleas and come to the conclusion that she either died or abandoned them. Once she’s finally freed, they end up showing massive contempt towards her.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Forced to consume several of her own fillings for sustenance while trapped in a jawbreaker for weeks on end.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Taco (Bruiser with a Soft Center) and Woody (Lovable Coward).
  • No-Respect Guy: Taco's been the reason Bleh have survived most of the challenges, but nobody gives her any gratitude for anything she does whatsoever because they think she willingly abandoned them when nobody released her from her jawbreaker in BFB 2.
  • Only Sane Man: One of the few contestants without any odd quirks. She’s also quick to call out the others when they make stupid decisions.
  • Ping Pong Naïveté: Occasionally gets major details wrong, such as Death P.A.C.T. preventing death or Dora being eliminated even though she attended Dora's elimination.
  • Team Mom: Frequently acts like this towards the Have Nots, such as trying to keep them on track during challenges or scolding them for being mean to each other.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: In her elimination episode, Leafy jumps rope with her and stands up Flower for bullying her. After all that she had gone through, she needed this.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy to Bell’s girly girl.
  • Tomboyish Voice: She has a fairly deep-sounding voice compared to other female characters, which fits with her stubborn and somewhat reckless personality.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Taco wasn’t exactly selfless in BFB 1 since she prioritized winning the challenge over her teammates’ wellbeing. note  Being trapped in a jawbreaker seemed to have humbled her.
  • Trauma Conga Line: In the earlier episodes. She gets stuck in a jawbreaker without anyone to free her, forced to listen to hear teammates lament her presumed death/abandoning the team, shunned by them once she’s freed, and scorned by Bell when she tries to apologize for using her in the sixth challenge. Damn.

    The New Contestant (UNMARKED SPOILERS
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/profily_teamicon.png
"Don't you mean final 6?"
BFB Rank: 6th
Team: W.O.A.H Bunch (BFDIA)
Voiced by: Niall Burns
Profily is a self-centered default YouTube account profile picture who shows up out of the blue at the tail end of BFB and immediately acts like they've been around since the beginning, much to the confusion of the remaining contestants and Four.
  • The Ace: Manages to complete the myriad of challenges Four desperately sets up in order to eliminate them within seconds.
  • Attention Whore: They are this to some extent, due to how much they want to be remembered.
  • Demoted to Extra: After being a pseudo-contestant introduced at the tail-end of BFB, as well as having an active part in the finale, they show up only for a quick gag in TPOT to introduce Teardrop to the show as a contestant.
  • It's All About Me: Well, maybe not the arrogant type, but they want to be remembered by others and thinks they've been there since the start, making them come off as self-centered, they even call themselves the audience favorite.
  • Nice Guy: Generally a pretty calm contestant.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: A non-binary YouTube account profile picture.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: They prefer to be called Profily instead of Profile Picture by their friends, which they point out to Leafy when she gets on their bad side.
  • Out of Focus: What they claim, at least. Having never shown up until their debut, there's no evidence that Profily ever was an actual contestant and if they were their fellow competitors have zero recollection of their presence over the span of a decade.
  • Remember the New Guy?: They appear out of nowhere in BFB 26 and claim to have been a contestant since BFDI - allegedly making it all the way to the finale before losing at fourth place, and being one of the founding members of WOAH Bunch. Subverted when no one remembers them.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: They are responsible for shifting the order in which people got eliminated and kickstarting a series of events that compel Four to move the competition out of the Pillary Ruins to somewhere else.
  • Token Minority: One of the few contestants to be non-binary.
  • True Companions: Apparently, they're very close friends with most of the cast, which Balloony notes during the final vote for the winner of BFB. While the contestants are rather confused by their presence and assertions that they've been a series mainstay, they do still try to keep Four from eliminating them unfairly, and some even apologize for trying to eliminate them during the following contest.
  • Unreliable Narrator: This is a possibility, as many of the signs in their "backstory" seem to be made up and "conveniently" justified by saying that they've never gotten any votes before and that nobody apparently noticed their presence in the past. Word of God from Cary Huang has also confirmed Profily was never actually part of the competition.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Was eliminated the same episode they debuted in, with Four initially attempting to take advantage of the technicalities of them never receiving a vote before making it the episode's challenge to get them into the BRB when the others resist.
