Characters / Archetypal Archetype Academy

Go To

    open/close all folders
     In General
The most famous academy in Royal Woods, specializing in training Archetypes (hence the name) and several other subjects of studies. Many members of the Loud family went and graduated here, and Lincoln is currently studying there to become a hero, regardless of what life throws at him.
  • Alliterative Name: Archetype Academy.
  • Adults Are Useless: The faculty are pretty much useless in helping Lincoln; either because they're pushovers, like the principal, or part of the problem, like Mrs. Johnson.
  • Cool School: What else do you call a school that specializes in helping people learn how to use their Archetypes?
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Believe it or not, Archetype Academy mostly focuses on helping its students learn how to use their Archetypes.
  • School Clubs Are Serious Business: Kind of? They're treated like any other part of the school, but the students are encouraged to join at least one club during their school years.
  • Superhero School: The academy primarily trains Archetypes so they may one day fulfill their jobs as heroes and defenders of humanity, but they also teach students with a variety of normal courses like an actual, well, school.
  • Two-Teacher School: From what we've seen so far, the school is run by a principal, a homeroom teacher, and a P.E. coach. There are other members, but what they do isn't known yet.

Faculty

     Wilbur Higgins

Archetype: Unknown

  • Dean Bitterman: This is the impression he gives when first introduced.
  • Extreme Doormat: It's eventually revealed that it takes very little to convince him to approve a club, and in general, he seems rather hands off when it comes to running the school.
  • Mister Exposition: He's the one who explains not only the nature of the Husks, but Archetypes and what Archetype Academy is all about.

     Agnes Johnson

Archetype: Unknown

The apathetic homeroom teacher of Lincoln's class.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: While in canon Mrs. Johnson is a sweetheart, this version of her is much more tired and sarcastic.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: She's a lot more tired and sardonic than canon.
  • Age Lift: While her age is unknown in canon, she seems to be in her 20s or 30s. In here, she's stated to be middle aged.
  • Apathetic Teacher: She's a woman with an Archetype she didn't want, who has had to keep super-powered children under control for who knows how many years. She's clearly tired, jaded, and isn't willing to put up with any of them acting uppity.
  • Blessed with Suck: She's lucky enough to be one of the few people in the world not to be a bystander, but her attitude and comment about the few perks about it make it clear that whatever Agnes wanted for an Archetype, the one she got wasn't it.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't sugarcoat things at all.
  • Sadist Teacher: Her Archetype gives her the ability to shock anybody whose name is written on the board and she has zero problem using it for even a minor reason, though considering her students all have some form of super-power she would need this to keep them in line. She also has no trouble talking down to them and embarrassing them in front of everyone.

     Ms. Di Martino

Archetype: Unknown

  • Small Role, Big Impact: She pretty much disappears after the beginning of the story, but she, along with Lisa, are pretty much the only reason why Lincoln wasn't kicked out of the academy.
  • Token Good Teammate: Granted, the rest of the faculty isn't evil, but they're pretty much useless in helping Lincoln. She, meanwhile, joins Lisa's side and gets him to stay in the academy.

     Lisa Loud
See her folder on the Loud Family page.

Lincoln's Classroom

     In General
  • Always in Class One: By sheer luck, Lincoln's classroom not only includes his old middle school bully, Chandler, but also his friend-turned-bully, Ronnie Anne.
  • Wacky Homeroom: The classroom includes, but is not limited to: a Harem-Powered dork, a literal Minion, a witch who insists to be called Bruja, the friendlish Assassin you'll ever meet, a quirky Dark Lord in the form of a Cute Monster Girl, and a deadpan Hero.

     Chandler Mc Cann

Archetype: Minion

An old bully from Lincoln's earlier school years, he eventually shows up in the same class as Lincoln at Archetype Academy.

His Archetype, "Minion", gives him the underwhelming power of Blind Obedience: if somebody with a higher willpower than him orders him to do something, he has to do it, no questions asked.

  • Aloof Ally: Subverted. At first it seems he's helping Fiona for his own reasons, but after discovering what his Archetype does, it becomes clear he's only doing so 'cause he has no choice.
    • He later becomes one to the Anti-Harem Club, as Ronnie Anne essentially forced him to become a member in order to join her quest of pettiness.
  • Adaptational Wealth: He's rich in this story, when canon doesn't hint he's anything other than middle class.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Yes, really. The way his Archetype works means his free will is taken away from him as soon as someone with a strong will orders him to do something, a problem he obviously didn't have in the original series.
  • Born Unlucky: He's the first example in the story of an Archetype who has it even worse than Lincoln: his Minion Archetype forces him to do whatever someone with a strong will orders him to do, which has brought him no shortage of suffering.
  • But Thou Must!: Applied to him and him only: if someone with a stronger will than his tells him to do something, he'll do it, no matter how hard he doesn't want to. It's because of this that Fiona managed to get him to help her rig the mall with explosives to unleash the Husks hidden underneath, a plan that he could see was nothing short of suicidal.
  • Butt-Monkey: He suffers a lot of mishaps and humilliations through the story.
  • Blessed with Suck: He has it even worse than Lincoln! About the only ability that "Minion" gives him is a But Thou Must! mentality applied to him only, and doesn't give him any notable superpowers or enhanced senses at all. About the only power it does give him is plausible deniability when involved in someone else's crime.
  • Blind Obedience: Subverted. Chandler, when ordered, will do whatever the person ordered him to do. Not because he wants to, but because his Archetype forces him to.
  • Brains and Brawn: He's clearly the brains to Fiona's brawn, as not only is he the one who realizes their plan is bound to fail, but is pretty much the one carrying the operation the whole way through.
  • Club Stub: The only reason he's part of the Anti-Harem Club is because Ronnie Anne abused his Archetype's schtik to get the final member she needed.
  • Evil Counterpart: He serves as this to Lincoln during the Mall Arc: a guy Blessed with Suck accompanying a Magical Girl during a visit to the mall, who serve as the brains to their partners' brawn.
  • Foil:
    • To Lincoln. They're both Blessed with Suck, having Archetypes that bring them nothing but trouble, but while Lincoln's Harem King gives him a bad reputation and has superpowers to alleviate some of it, Chandler's Minion effectively turns him into a Bystander with a harsh case of Blind Obedience forced upon him.
    • Also to Ronnie Anne. Chandler began as a bully to Lincoln, but he eventually mellowed out when Archetype Academy came around. Ronnie Anne, on the other hand, started as friends with him, but grew to hate him after his Indexing, and has only become more hostile once at the academy.
  • Forced into Evil: Despite what his Minion Archetype would let you believe, he's not naturally evil, and his tenure with Fiona during the Mall arc only happens because he has no choice.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Serves as this to Fiona while working under her. Chandler not only works to sabotage the Husks breeding underneath the mall, but he's also the one of the two who has actual common sense, seeing Fiona's plan to unleash a Husk outbreak on the mall in order to achieve glory as the pure nonsense it is.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: After remembering how Ronnie Anne forced him to join the Anti-Harem Club, he muses to himself how he wishes he had been born a Bystander instead.
  • Jerkass: His very debut makes him into a Smug Snake who believes he's hot stuff.
  • Karma Houdini: He gets away with helping Fiona potentially unleash a horde of Husks underneath the mall, and shows up at Archetype Academy no worse for wear. Then again, given what his Archetype does to him, it's a given that he was forced to do it.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Implied. He's rich in this story, and of the people he's interacted with, they either boss him around ( Fiona) or use him for their own means (Ronnie Anne).
  • The Reliable One: Though not by choice; because of the way his Archetype works, as long as something is within his power, he'll do it so long as a strongerwilled person orders him to do it.
  • Single Tear he sheds one of these while remembering how Ronnie Anne forced him to join her club.
  • Smug Snake: He likes to act like he's the biggest man on campus, but compared to everybody else, he's pretty much just a Bystander with Blind Obedience.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: He gives off the impression that he thinks he's hot shit, and never lets anybody get a word in, but this is mostly a defense mechanism to stop his Archetype from taking over. And as small snippets from his appearances in the academy reveal, he's got a lot of baggage beneath his haughty exterior.
  • Pet the Dog: Once the mall incident comes to pass and Lincoln goes to the academy the next idea, he finds out about how Chandler told everybody how he defeated [[The Corrupted One]], giving him a brief breather from all the vitriol thrown at him earlier. Things quickly spiral to him being an outcast soon after, but hey, it's the thought that counts.
  • Token Rich Student: He's the only student in Lincoln's classroom confirmed to be from a well off family, with everybody else being from middle status, unknown status, or even poor.
  • Got Volunteered: He joins the Anti-Harem Club when Ronnie Anne creates it, solely because she ordered him to.
  • Weak, but Skilled: His Archetype makes him no stronger than a Bystander, but he makes up for this with incredible skill in doing whatever it is he's ordered to do.
  • Weak-Willed: Implied. The way Minion works is that someone with a strong will, presumably stronger than Chandler's, can order him to do whatever they want and he'll do it. Fiona and Ronnie Anne being able to boss him is understandanble, but given that a random asshole during Archetyplets can do the same, it gives the idea that Chandler's will isn't the strongest.

     Girl Jordan

Archetype: Hero

A girl in Lincoln's class who transferred to Archetype Academy to get away from her nickname.

Her Archetype is "Hero", making Stella her archenemy as the holder of the "Dark Lord" archetype. In theory, anyway.

  • Archenemy: Stella thinks she's this to her, but Girl Jordan sees her as a nuisance at worst and is more interested in messing with her.
  • The Chosen One: What her Archetype boils down to.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Her other reason for joining the Loud Club is because it would give her free reign to do this. Be it the likes of Lincoln (which nearly gets Lynn and Luan to throw her out and challenge her to a death match) or Lynn (which gets Lynn embarrassed/flattered and Luan to decide it'd be worth keeping her around).
  • The Gadfly: She never loses an opportunity to mess with Stella. Part of the reason she decides to join the Loud Club is because Stella wants to join.
  • Unknown Rival: Stella sees her as her archnemesis, a being she's fated to fight as their Archetypes are known as mortal enemies. Girl Jordan, for her part, sees Stella as a nuisance and prank victim at best.

     Lincoln Loud
See his folder on the Loud Family page.

     Paige

Archetype: Hacker

Another one of Lincoln's classmates.

Her Archetype is "Hacker."

     Ronalda "Ronnie Anne" Santiago

Archetype: Witch / Bruja

An old friend of Lincoln who comes from a poor family; or at least, a family that has seen hard times. She initially seems to like Lincoln, but after his Indexing, she grows a vivid hatred of him.

Her Archetype, no matter what she says otherwise, is "Witch", which gives her the ability to control magic.

  • Affectionate Nickname: "Ni Ni", by her brother.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While she was a bit rough with Lincoln in the canon series, she eventually became an ally of him and became kinder later on. This Ronnie Anne, however, completely cuts ties with Lincoln and makes it her mission to make his time at the academy a living hell.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Not only does she have to deal with being one of the few members of her family to go to the academy, a pretty stressful of it's own, but also with the fact that one of her former friends has an unknown Archetype with such an unfortunate name, she joins the crowd in their hatred of him as an attempt to cope the sudden change. It's not fun being Ronnie Anne.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Her relationship in this story is the exact opposite of canon: in canon, Ronnie Anne initially bullied Lincoln because she liked him, only to become a close friend of his after they went on a double date with Lori and Bobby. In this story, she and Lincoln start as friends, but after the Indexing reveals him to be a Harem King, she grows to hate him to the point she cuts ties with him, becoming The Bully towards him once they start going to the academy.
  • Aggressive Categorism: While not the first one to call Lincoln a pervert or think he's one, she's the first person to make her hatred about it very clear.
  • Barbaric Bully: She doesn't pull any punches on her first day at the academy; not only does she put the "hell" in Dodge Ball Is Hell, but she even creates a school club specifically designed to pester Lincoln.
  • Bewitched Amphibians: Invoked. Ronnie Anne warns Lincoln she'll do this to him if he lays a hand on Sid.
  • Believing Their Own Lies: She's in so over her head regarding Lincoln's supposed perverted nature that she seems to honestly believe her current actions (pummel him with dodgeballs, bully him constantly, create a club specifically to attack him) is her doing the world a favor.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Yells this at Lincoln when he tries to explain himself. This, alongside the Death Glare she shows prior, makes it clear she's not quite fond of him anymore.
  • Blatant Lies: When Sid brings up the idea that starting the Anti-Harem Club to attack Lincoln is going too far, Ronnie Anne denies it has anything to do with Lincoln. One Look Behind You from Sid later, Ronnie Anne sees a poster she made that's all about saying Lincoln must not be allowed to have a harem at all costs.
  • The Bully: Becomes this by the time the academy begins, though she mostly targets Lincoln.
  • Bully Brutality: She doesn't pull any punches once the academy starts: one single game of dodgeball's all that's needed to make Lincoln feel sore all over his body, and the day's not even done yet.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Inverted. Ronnie Anne was Lincoln's rough-around-the-edges childhood friend until his Indexing revealed his Archetype, upon which she Took a Level in Jerkass and became The Bully to him.
  • Childhood Friends: Was this with Lincoln, though the "friends" part doesn't quite apply anymore after his Indexing.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Was hoping to get this with Lincoln, but again, his Indexing caused her to take a complete 180 and become the first of many bullies to him.
  • Cute Witch: Her Indexing revealed her Archetype to be a Witch, and although she definitely looks cute, her personality is a little rough around the edges, especially when it involves Lincoln.
  • Death Glare: Shoots one at Lincoln when she sees him again after he gets accepted into the academy. This, couple with the Big "SHUT UP!" soon after, makes it clear she's not as friendly as before.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: It's one thing to hate Lincoln over his perceived perversion. It's another thing to not only pummel him with dodgeballs, but also create a club specifically designed to attack him.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: She goes ham on Lincoln as soon as the academy begins, but nobody bats an eye or even does something about it. The fact that even Sid, Ronnie Anne's best friend, and Mrs. Johnson, whose job is to watch after the kids, don't do much if anything about it is just egregious.
  • Foil:
    • To Chandler. In short, Ronnie Anne used to be Lincoln's friends before his Indexing, turning her into The Bully, while Chandler was a bully to Lincoln before, but has mellowed out since.
    • Also one to Stella, oddly enough. They both have Archetypes with dark connotations, but while Stella is a Loud Ham who treats her Archetype with utmost seriousness, Ronnie Anne is more subdued and doesn't get a bad rap for her Archetype. They also hold hatred towards a particular person; Girl Jordan for Stella, Lincoln for Ronnie Anne, but while Stella and Girl Jordan were complete strangers until the start of the school year, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne knew each other long beforehand.
  • Generation Xerox: Claims her grandmother was a Witch as well.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: She insists on her Archetype being called "Bruja", which is just the Spanish way of saying "Witch."
  • Hypocrite: She gives Lincoln crap for his unfortunately named, but still mysterious Archetype, and yet her best friend Sid has an Archetype even darker than him (and unlike Harem King, everybody knows what an Assassin does) and yet not only does she not give her even a little bit of shade, but she protects her when some people throw her looks.
  • Insistent Terminology: Ronnie Anne prefers to refer to her Archetype as Bruja, and not Witch.
  • Insult of Endearment: "Lame-O" was originally a nickname she gave to Lincoln, but after his Indexing, she uses it like a proper insult instead.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: She was about to tell Lincoln that she had feelings for him at the Indexing before the bells chimed. Little did they know that would be the last time they'd be on friendly terms...
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Unless you're Lincoln (In which case see below), Ronnie Anne acts rough around the edges, but is a genuinely loyal friend who'll stick by your side and defend you when people shoot you distrustful eyes.
  • Jerkass to One: Ronnie Anne has a reputation for being a tough cookie, but she treats everybody with neutrality... except for Lincoln. In his case, she's a straight up bully.
  • Jerk Justifications: Simply put, if somebody tries to call her out on her petty behavior, she'll always find a way to rationalize it.
  • Kids Are Cruel: While just about everyone in the classroom throws shade at Lincoln, she's the only one who physically abuses him of her own free will ( Sid does hurt Lincoln during one of the Archetyplets, but she was literally given a job to do so.).
  • Kick the Dog: Beating Lincoln up in dodgeball and being an all-around jerk to him was already pretty bad. But then she not only creates the Anti-Harem Club, but when Lincoln (for his own reasons), can't respond to his accusations, she rubs its' alleged purpose right on his face.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Played for Drama. Ronnie Anne is one of the many people who isn't in the known about Genre Shift, but the "drama" bit comes from the fact she's definitely one of the few who'd benefit from learning about it: most of her issues with Lincoln stem from the fact she thinks he's just a pervert, which Genre Shift at least implies isn't the case. However, since Lincoln has his own reasons not to tell anybody, she's kept in the dark, thus extending her feud against him.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: She was known as the toughest girl prior to entering the academy, but this was done purely through physical power. The first time she discovers she can do magic, is when she discovers her Archetype, meaning her knowledge on magic is rather limited currently.
  • Odd Friendship: You wouldn't think that a Witch, a female spellcaster, and an Assassin, who are mostly known for killing people, would share a friendly relationship, let alone be best friends. And yet this is the exact way you can describe her relationship with Sid.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Good luck finding anybody besides her family who calls her Ronalda.
  • Penny Among Diamonds: Everybody else in the academy is either from a famous family, like Lincoln, or from a rich family, like Chandler. Ronnie Anne's from neither: her family is relatively obscure and poor, to the point they had to pool all their resources just for the chance to get Ronnie Anne in the academy.
  • Rebel Relaxation: This is the pose she assumes when she meets Lincoln and Lisa after the board's decision.
  • Stunned Silence: Her reaction after hearing Lincoln's Armor-Piercing Response. Notably, this is the first time she gets backtalked by Lincoln, who until then had decided to grin and bear it to not get himself into further trouble.
  • Tsundere: Her interaction with Lincoln prior to the Indexing has shades of this: she calls him Lame-O and the narration makes it a point that she was quite rough, but there's a hint of playfulness when they meet again. The playfulness, and sweetness in general, vanished afterwards.
  • They Just Dont Get It: No matter what anybody says or what she sees, Ronnie Anne not only refuses to see Lincoln as anything other than a pervert, but as a public menace.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: While she was upset after Lincoln's Archetype was revealed, she didn't really bother him. Come the beginning of the academy, and she willingly bullies him.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She and Lincoln were good friends before the Indexing happened. After that, she grows a deep hatred to him, eventually becoming The Bully towards him when they meet again in the academy.
  • Wicked Witch: Downplayed. She's a member of the "Witch" Archetype, and she acts as The Bully to Lincoln, but she's fairly neutral towards everybody else.

     Sid Chang

Archetype: Assassin

Ronnie Anne's best friend, and her voice of reason.

Her Archetype is "Assassin."

  • The Conscience: Serves as this for Ronnie Anne; whenever she's about to go overboard, Sid being around is guaranteed to rein her in.
  • Distaff Counterpart: As a girl with a dark Archetype who is seen with distrust, she's more or less a female version of Lincoln.
  • The Glomp: How she greets Ronnie Anne once they meet at the academy. The narration is also kind enough to let us know Ronnie Anne's used to this.
  • Genki Girl: Subverted: the sheer energy she shows when meeting Ronnie Anne at the academy is the result of a sugar high.
  • Hitman with a Heart: Despite her Archetype being what it is, she's a very nice person.
  • Nice Girl: Disturbing Archetype aside, Sid's just a straight up sweetheart, being both The Conscience to Ronnie Anne as well as one of the few people who doesn't give Lincoln crap for his Archetype.

     Stella

Archetype: Dark Lord

An eccentric girl in Lincoln's class. He attempts to bond with her due to both having Archetypes with bad reputations, but the attempt fails.

Her Archetype is "Dark Lord", which gives her the powers and look of a demon lord, the latter represented by her horns and tail.

  • Adaptational Personality Change: Stella in canon was a fairly calm girl who was pretty on the ball when necessary. This Stella, on the other hand, pretty much exists in her own little world, and is a bundle of energy waiting to explode.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Stella and Lincoln are good friends in canon, but they start out as pretty much strangers in this story, which is only further cemented when Genre Shift fails to trigger when Lincoln tries to use it on Stella. They do start becoming friends later, however, as she ends up joining with Lincoln's club.
  • Archenemy: Fancies herself as this to Girl Jordan, but the Hero herself sees her more as a nuisance and entertainment than anything.
  • Commonality Connection: Subverted. Lincoln, in an attempt to use Genre Shift, tries to bond with her based on the overwhelming dislike both of their Archetypes get, but Genre Shift fails to trigger.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Besides the horns and devil's tail, Stella looks like a normal human.
  • Hero Worship: After Lincoln and Luan defeat Diablo, Stella is ecstatic about it because, as aspiring "Dark Lord", otherwise she would have had to eventually go The Starscream route on him herself if he wasn't beaten.
  • Horned Humanoid: She has a pair of horns on her head, and unlike her setup, they're pointed out to be real.
  • Large Ham: Let's just say she's a very bombastic girl. Heck, when she introduces herself, she does with a thunderous voice!
  • Playing with Fire: She can generate fireballs, though how strong they are is unknown, since Ms. Johnson dispels it before she gets a chance to use it.
  • Unknown Rival: She's the rival, in this case. She considers Girl Jordan her archnemesis for having the Hero Archetype, but Jordan barely pays attention to her.

Other Students

     Clyde Mc Bride

Archetype: Spectator

Lincoln Loud's best friend in the entire world...or so he thinks.

  • Captain Oblivious: He doesn't realize nobody knows he exists.
  • Faceless Masses: His Archetype embodies the kind of bystander that's so minor that they only exist as part of the scenery.
  • Handwave: His lack of presence in the story was explained in chapter two of the side story as his Archetype causing him to be so forgettable that nobody even notices he exists.
  • Out of Focus: In the show, he was Lincoln's best friend. Here he didn't get any lines until chapter two of the side story.
  • Unperson: This is the power of his Archetype. it makes him 'so' ordinary and forgettable that it's rendered him invisible and intangible to everybody around him. Nobody, not even his dads realize he even exists.

     Otto

Archetype: Unknown

     Polly Pain

Archetype: Unknown

     Renee Alistair

Archetype: Superhero

     Siege

     Zach Gurdle

Archetype: Unknown

Other

     Haqq and Kudra

A pair of crystal balls utilized during the Indexing; the way it works is that an Archetype puts a hand on each crystal ball, they glow, and then they reveal their power Archetype.

  • Crystal Ball: Self-explanatory.
  • Power Glows: They glow while an Archetype touches them.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: They only appear in the very first chapter, and aren't referred to after, but it's them Indexing Lincoln that reveals his Archetype, and causes the entire plot to unfold.
