Now that we can add certain YMMV tropes what would be a good way to word a Creator's Pet entry for Velma? Regarding Velma herself of course.

Pet only applies to minor characters getting unfair focus/favoritism. Main characters are exempt as they're expected to get such.

Understood. Thanks for the clarity.

Doesn't the fact that the protagonist of a comedy is obviously horrible make it likely that Velma is meant to be an Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist, despite the article's claim that she's the designated hero and Unintentionally Unsympathetic?

On a related note, the possibility that the show didn't mean to dunk on opposite extremes of parenting never occurred to me. What makes anyone think that that was an accident? This further ties in to the idea that Fred is the Designated Monkey; I watched the show thinking that its obvious message was people like Velma are in the wrong for thinking that rich white males were inherently privileged when Fred is clearly a victim of society much like what they complain about.

These further make me question the presence of other author intent related statements I didn't have an opinion of, like "We are supposed to sympathize with Diya for Aman moving on with Sophie while she was missing and their relationship is treated like an affair."

Are we really? What about the show indicates that?

I need help. I'm trying to think of a trope that fits the term of when the people working on the show got something so blatantly wrong.

For example, they essentially said Fred was the white guy who likes to takes credit for everything, when that only happened one.

What would be the proper term for that? I'm also trying to find that interview/article in question.

Would this version of Fred and Norville fall into Base-Breaking Character? I hardly find anyone thinking they are great characters but i have seen a lot of discussions/reviews where they are called as two of the few redeemable qualities of the show, as well as a lot of discussions/reviews were they are two of the most criticized aspects of the show.

Likewise, is too soon to consider this version of Velma The Scrappy?

The "brain in the jar" yarn - like any good Frankenstein story - works only if the surgeon can make it credible. That is as true in comedy as it is in horror. Mel Brooks could have told you that. Edna Perdue was a veteran neurosurgeon with twenty years experience. Victoria a CEO and Diya a writer. No. The way Velma was structured the killer had to be white, but, since all white males in Velma are incompetent, the killer had to be female. That left the writers no where else to go but to Victoria.

Would it fall under Common Knowledge the concept that the shows poor ratings and reviews on imdb happened before it's release? While it's true there was a crowd to do that, imdb doesn't let you rate things before they actually come out, and user reviews can't be posted until after the show actually comes out, where critics had given it somewhat positive reviews before audience reception dropped it down? While it's true there was a group that aimed to do this, the ratings would have balanced out by now in a much more positive direction if it really was much better than what initial reviews suggested.

Or would that be seen as too intentionally inflammatory?

If imdb doesn't let you rate shows that haven't debuted, then claiming the negative reviews are from before it debuted is clearly false. I don't see a problem so long as it's worded carefully

All is not lost. Not yet.

I find it kinda unlikely... honestly the show's general quality (or lack thereof) is absolutely dominating discussions about it. I, for one, have watched several videos on the show and this is the first I'm hearing about that.
