  • Ho Yay: Apollo/Clay, for being best friends and Apollo really toned up over his death.
    • Also, Aura Blackquill's love for Metis Cykes is barely subtext. To elaborate a bit:
      • The robots they jointly created previously referred them both as Mama.
      • Much of Aura's malice and obvious dislike towards Athena is because she's genuinely convinced that Athena killed Metis. It's also somewhat implied that she saw Athena as competition for Metis. And how her younger brother Simon is Taking the Heat really doesn't help.
      • Apollo's remark that Metis appears to have loved the robots they created as much as her own daughter Athena...and Aura.
      • And, of course, Aura's outburst in court, by which point it's more or less text. Heck, by that point, the only who didn't get it was the Judge.
Aura: Shut up, Simon! You know exactly how I felt about her! Her respect as a co-worker wasn't all that I wanted!
Judge: Hmmm... Then what did you want from her?
Phoenix: ...Did you really just go there, Your Honor?!
Apollo and Clay are friends, but since Clay hasn't appeared in person there are no Ho Yay moments between them. Them just being friends isn't enough, the fact of their friendship in no way suggests anything erotic or romantc, let's not get crazy. Aura on the other hand doesn't qualify in opposite direction, she practically outright states that she's in love with Metis, no subtext, no interpretation. So sorry, in both cases Not That Trope.

Going to potentially disagree on the first one. Characters can have Ho Yay even if they don't physically interact on-screen. Now, I haven't played the game and have no idea what "toned up" means so I'm down for cutting it until someone gives some context that's in English, but I'm not averse to it on principle.

Sounds like you're right on the second one, though. That's just Homoerotic Subtext.

They can but in this case the entry prety much states they have Ho Yay because they're friends, that's why i said "let's not get crazy". Friendship and Ho Yay isn't the same thing.

The problem is, Ho Yay is kind of... by its definition getting crazy and seeing what isn't there. Most cases of Ho Yay (and shipping in general) is people interpreting "normal human interaction" as "OMG THEY ARE IN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE."

Like I said, the entry is barely English and has to go. But if we start asking the shippers to not go crazy, we're trying to fight the storm.

So, before the guys who actually do check if C Ms are such or not, does Aristotle Means qualify? On one hand, he follows his philosophy to the end, and does want to pass it on to his students, genuinely thinking the world works better that way. I think...

On the other hand, that policy of his of the end justifying the means, well, he ends up applying it even when the end is "save my own ass" and the means are "murder and hide the body", so he's clearly kind of an evil bastard there. Still, it's not a hypocritical bastardy, more of taking his philosophy and applying unhealthy egotism to it.

Is CM short for Complete Monster? If so then he clearly doesn't qualify for failing heinous standard. one murder and one frame is pretty standard for AA universe, he doesn't stand out in any way.

Is the Phantom actually the record holder for the most amount of victims in the entire series of Ace Attorney? For final villains, he holds 2 confirmed intended kills, direct or indirect [Metis Cykes and Clay Terran; there's no confirmation that he murdered Bobby Fulbright]; Manfred von Karma holds 2 [Gregory Edgeworth and Robert Hammond], Damon Gant holds 2 [Neil Marshall and Bruce Goodman], Matt Engarde holds 1 [Juan Corrida], Dahlia Hawthorne holds 3 [Valerie Hawthorne, Terry Fawles and Doug Swallow], Godot holds 1 [Misty Fey/Elise Deauxnim], Kristoph Gavin holds 2 [Zak Gramarye/Shadi Smith and Drew Misham], Shih-na/Calisto Yew holds 3 [Deid Mann, Byrne Faraday and Mack Rell], Quercus Alba holds 3 [Cece Yew, Manny Coachen and Ka-Shi Nou], and Sōta Sarushiro holds 1 [Teikun Ō imposter]. However, if any killer is a candidate (not counting assassins, since we have no record of how many they have killed), Joe Darke is a clear winner, with 5 confirmed murders.
