I think we should add "But hey, that's just a trope. A TV Trope. Thanks for reading" somewhere in the article. Maybe not those exact words (I know that sounds really forced), but still something to that effect.

What ideals reflect who Mat Pat is based on clues he has left in his videos?

  • FT (Film Theory): Luke (Skywalker) SHOULDN'T Destroy The Death Star
  • GT (Game Theory): Why Mario (Is/Is Not) Mental, Parts 1 and 2
  • GT: Bowser's BROKEN HOME in Super Mario
  • GT: Toad's DEADLY SECRET (Super Mario)

For Mat Pat, I feel that he prefers to see the forces of both the Galactic Empire and Koopa Kingdom as a collective Draco in Leather Pants and simply Designated Villains stacked against the clearly seen forces of good represented by the Rebel Alliance and Mushroom Kingdom that are depicted by him as Designated Heroes and his collective Ron the Death Eater.

For him, the Empire and the Koopas represent order, perfection, safety, fidelity and security through any means possible - whereas the Rebellion and Mushroomers, though however chaotic they may be, represent freedom, independence, the power to feel, question and resist oppression which I personally live by as a Neutral Good.

At least, that is my take on this sort of thing.

Feel free to add more instances in replies below or offer up your takes on such matters.

From the note in Critical Research Failure: This was followed up by Scott pointing out that Mat, himself, had screwed up while researching for the video; he missed one particularly notable detail, specifically the fact that the game takes place in 1983, and thus the accident at the end of the game can't be the Bite of '87.

Is this really needed? We don't know for sure what Scott meant. All he really did say was that Mat Pat missed a crucial detail. Personally I found it to be the point that the kid could still have nightmares as the amglyda (located in the temporal lobe) is what controls fear and not the frontal lobe. But we should just stick to the facts instead of assuming.

The fanfic of the same name stole this page's older, less redundant name!

I was wrong about the "fanfic stole the video's name" thing. But it's still redundant.

Can examples of videos by other contributors be added to this page and its subpages? I'm specifically wondering about Gaijin Goomba's "Culture Shock" videos uploaded on the Game theorists channel instead of his own, like the Majora's Mask trilogy...

Why do the Game Theories, one a fanfiction and another a web series where someone tries to find the answer to video game to real life physics, have to share a page? THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER!

Title collision, basically. There is a fix planned for this but it will take several months at least.
