What's access to the YMMV page still doing there? I thought YMMV pages weren't allowed for creators anymore. Unless they changed it back, of course.
The page type is set to "work" rather than "creator" so the YMMV tab shows up. Provided it's focused on YMMV items from works by the creator rather than the creator themself/itself, which this one seems to be, it shouldn't be a problem.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. As some of you know, I've been in the discussion over the Admins here locking (and severely cutting) the Sonichu page. Even though Chris-chan has gotten me to shake my head in disgust—a true sign that you have really failed as a human being—I sided with the Admins. That's because I agree whole heartingly over their desire to keep most of the bile and vitriol away from the site.
And you don't have to hear it from me, there is a lot of bile and vitriol flying around with it regards of CWC. Chris-chan and his tormentors deserve each other, really.
This is not Wikipedia, I'll give you that, but this is not Encyclopedia Dramatica either. TV Tropes is not, and should never become, a burn page. It's here mostly to list the many tropes a Television Show, Book, Movie, or even a crappy web comic like the crap I made in the past, and describe each trope in depth. That's where the draw is, and that's why people waste their lives away reading this site. And if someone actually progresses as a human being, if not by talent, TV Tropes is not beyond putting that in there. Hell, they'd do the same to CWC if—HORRORS!—he suddenly woke up to be a normal fully functioning adult man who finds a well-paying job, moves out of his parents, and actually socialized like a normal human being at evenings. (After taking a shower, of course)
I'm not saying that you have the right to dislike, or even hate, something. It's a free country. I'm saying that there are places on the internet to vent your dislikes and hatred. TV Tropes is not that place. The Internet _has_ a Hate Machine, but the Internet is not _the_ Hate Machine. I call for the civility to realise the difference.
Edited by DavidFoxfire Hide / Show RepliesDude, you need a vacation from the internet. I mean, you really, really need to find a way to calm down about this. I mean, you're thinking way, way, way too hard about all this stuff. In fact, I would have said you're downright butthurt about all this if I didn't know better and understand you've manned up a lot in the past year or two.
Focus on your story for now. It might help you to get your mind off this "internet hate machine business" thing for now. Who knows, maybe I'll look at a copy of your novel to see how much you've improved since I last heard of you like...3 or 4 years ago? Wow, has it really been that long? Huh. Tempis Fugit, eh?
Edited by Raidouthe21st We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)I hate to show my 'affliction' here, but where does the comment about what an admin does here have to do with me. You might have a valid point, but it just doesn't follow in my head.
Maybe it's that need for a vacation from the internet talking. I dunno.
Needed: Proofreaders and Copy Editors. Chris-chan trolls need not apply.
I have a couple of books in beta stages, meaning it's ready for previews and those who want to run through any texts and help with the grammar and spelling mistakes. I am only interested in serious proofeaders here. I know I'm taking the risk of some asshole taking a file that isn't meant to be made public yet and post it on some other Wiki, only to mock at it from behind my back. (Being pirated isn't a problem, it's being regarded only as a lulcow.) But I'm willing to wager that some of you tropers actually want to help me be a successful writer. If you are that kind of person, send me an E-Mail at davidfoxfire@foxfirestudios.net . You will be given credit and acknologement for your assistance, which will be greatly appreciated.
Hide / Show RepliesOf course. You'll be listed in the Acknologements as one of my proofreaders :)
"Chris-chan trolls need not apply."
Dat just racist, dawg...
Well, you wanna tell people what the book is about at least?
Edited by Raidouthe21st We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Not to you. You just broke Goodwin's law IMHO.
The others? It's the remake of the origin story for Scarlet PI, in novel form.
...I was just kidding. Sheesh, you take the internet too seriously, bro.
Edited by Raidouthe21st We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)David, I know This Is Not Wikipedia, and I'm far, far from an authority here, but it seems a bit... uncouth to be making major edits to your own page, doesn't it? Even self-flagellating as they are... to be honest, your self-flagellation is one of the things people mock about you nowadays.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger. Hide / Show RepliesWell, just to be on the record, I did not delete anything, just added some extra wisecracks and added the link to that interview. But I'd have to admit it that it was uncouth. But hell, like what you just said, it's "my own" page, which in my mind is insane if I didn't even type a character of text on that page.
That is what got me irate over ED, because it got me the impression that the flaming pile of doggie doo that's on their page on me is what I actually am, exposed genitalia and all. And that they just pin that on me and say "This is you stop whining" as if they know more about me than I know myself. That dynamic has been a burr in the side of many other victims of ED, including myself.
At least here in the Tropes, I could say that I actually contributed. Even if it is a bit self-flagellating.
Edited by DavidFoxfireIt's generally considered bad form to edit a page that deals with you as a creator/author/artist (as opposed to a personal userpage) or your own work. It's just etiquette, and applies to anyone.
Insert smarmy line here.It wouldn't be so much of a problem if assholes don't come around and call it "my" TV Tropes page or "my" ED Page, when I can't be allowed to contrubute to it or even have it removed from Google Searches. That's the main rubbing point.
Side Note: There should be a guide on how to remove 'burn pages' such as ED pages from web searches. Since they just go "Hurr Hurr Hurr Stop Being Butthurt You Fag" when you ask them to remove it.
I've noticed that parts one and three of the Mobius Chronicles Mi S Ting have disappeared now that the plug has been pulled on Geocities. Does anyone happen to have the images saved somewhere?
I draw this comic-like thing sometimes. Hide / Show RepliesI might, gimmie some time to rustle them up.
Insert smarmy line here.Hey, Dave, you think you'll be writing any new works any time soon? Or have you retired from that?
Hide / Show RepliesI have several projects in the works as we speak. I'm working on the second draft of BAM book 02, and Scarlet PI's first Series Book has been thrown back a bit so I can work on some scenes some more. Please bear with me so I can get these things through. (Provided I can pry my ass off this site :P
Please note that David Gonterman is also a Troper who actually edits some of the pages, as well as this discussion page, as well as have an article on him here. (Just so that newer readers will know) (Take That!, Encyclopedia Dramatica !)
Hide / Show RepliesHe also evidently likes referring to himself in the third person. (And you aren't supposed to use Take That! like that. Or is it just that you're not supposed to pothole it whenever you badmouth someone/thing?)
Apparantly I also do stuff at times that intentionally make you facepalm just for yucks.
I'm about to move the main page to the Creator/ namespace. Just so everyone knows.
