Legally Ousted Leader should be added to this list too. Everyone working on the project has agreed to a 20 year separation between the present and the event. I believe we should run with their idea.
Should It Was His Sled also be included here? If so, then how many weeks/months/years?
Should Ensemble Dark Horse be on here as well?
A lot of YMMV pages for upcoming works add characters that appeared briefly in the trailers and instantly became fan-favorites, even if there's a likeliness their popularity will wane after the film is released.
Question: what if the work was released early in some other location?
Missing Link was released a week early in the UK for instance.
Hide / Show RepliesDepends on the length of and reason for the waiting period.
A week's difference is negligible compared to a six-month waiting period. In a case like that, I'd say just wait the extra week.
In the case of tropes like Complete Monster where the purpose is specifically to allow more tropers the chance to experience the work and reach a consensus, I'd ask around the relevant cleanup thread. If lots of people want to weigh in but can't because the work hasn't come out in their area, maybe hold off until it has.
TL;DR, consider the spirit of the law and, when in doubt, ask on the relevant cleanup thread.
Edited by HighCrateLately the Woobie Cleanup has a set rule of 2 weeks as well.
IPP Wick Check created. Hide / Show RepliesShould we just use the same reason as Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard?:
- The Woobie: Due to frequent misuse; the waiting period allows for more people to experience the work so that consensus may be reached on newer examples. Cleanup thread here.
I think Self-Made Orphan, Offing the Offspring, and Cain and Abel should be added here too. I know these tropes lead to gossip and grossness about real life crimes, but historical examples are worthy enough to be mentioned in the pages for educational purposes.
