openRegenerating ammo+automatic portable reloading machine Videogame
In the doom mod "Hideous Destructor" the BFG (when either it's internal or removable battery has about 35% cap left), is capable of charging batteries from "botis fields" (basically hell energy, it's everywhere and afaik it only matters here context wise).
This essentially means you can (gradually) infinitely charge batteries, granted all the ones you have are not completely dead.
And one more since I'm here, there's a "reloading machine", it combines one 7.62 casing with four 4.26mm rounds to create a single 7.62 round
openstarting off as the best Videogame
"thats right your the absolute greatest in the entire fucking world" the important business man said AS SOON AS I START THE GAME SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING.
there a name for this?
openInvincibility breaching attack Videogame
An attack that can still hurt or even One-Hit KO you even with invulnerablity. E.G In Video Game/Hexen there were exactly 2 things that could kill you even with the icon of the defender or god mode on: Falling Damage and getting skewered by one of the giant wooden spikes that sometimes come out of the ground Though thankfully the latter were rare enough you had to either just be really unlucky or deliberately stand there waiting for one to impale you.
opengame starts with a boss fight Videogame
Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Usually a Warm-Up Boss for obvious reasons. Example: Chaos 0 on Sonic Adventure.
openFalse timed mission Videogame
Is there a trope for when a videogame claims you have a time limit on doing something but doesn't actually keep track or punish you for being too slow? Example: at the end of Heretic once you complete the final level of the original game (E3m 8) the ending narration says you escaped just before the dome collapsed due to D'sparil dying. However, you can, in reality, wait as long as you want after killing him before using the exit teleporter and nothing will happen.
openHidden Path Maze Videogame
The Maze that relies on rooms where you have to use exits in a specific order or you're booted to the beginning. Bonus points if the rooms are very hard to distinguish from each other, if not actually identical.
openbad guy unexpectedly isn't killed Videogame
Is there a trope for where in a game where you otherwise kill all the enemies you face one of them unexpectedly escapes or doesn't die for some reason. Example: Turok 2 is a First-Person Shooter where you normally kill everything, however, the Mother boss manages to escape after getting her arms blown off (and, strangely, never shows up again)
openJohn Johnkovsk Videogame
When the creators make up a word, or name, that is not Russian, but made to sound like
openUnique Ally Videogame
If there can be a Unique Enemy in games, then why not a Unique Ally too?
openRecyled tune, different instruments Videogame
This is mostly a video game thing, but it's when a song is used in different places but has different instrumentation. It's not Variable Mix, which blends musical effects with actions, but not omnipresent enough of a tune to count for Theme-and-Variations Soundtrack. It's like a group of bosses all have the same battle tune, but each one has it played with different instruments and this tune does not appear outside of these boss fights.
Edited by 8BrickMarioopenMultiplayer with different stations Videogame
A form of cooperative multiplayer where each player mans a unique station. The goal usually is to keep things running while striving for the main objective.
openCant save past the ending Videogame
Once you finish the game and the credits roll it takes you to the main menu, when you load your file, you start from your last save point like nothing happened
openNo Ties Allowed / No Draws Allowed Videogame
I think I saw this one a long time ago, but this is for instances in games where draws/ties are highly improbable or outright impossible due to whatever tie breakers are in place. Do we still have a trope like this?
Edited by HashiriyaR32openStalker Mook Videogame
Do we have a trope for a high-powered Mook that stalks the player throughout the game? Something like the Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, for example.
openMulti-Visit Dungeon (answered) Videogame
A dungeon which has to be visited at least twice, as part of the main story, to fight a Bonus Boss, or because you now have the means to explore previously unapproachable areas.
I'm considering putting this through TLP if it doesn't exist.
Edited by LermisopenGame secret/solution/ etc you can only find through luck Videogame
What's the trope for some secret (or worse, something necessary to complete the game) that you could realistically only discover through dumb luck (aside from just looking it up)? Example: In Sonic CD the robotisizer in Wacky Workbench act 1 can only be found by standing on these things that look like crushers but are actually transport tubes of some sort. However, there's no way of knowing the "crushers" aren't really dangerous (indeed, typically crushers in the games cause a One-Hit KO even if you have rings), let alone that they can take you to the robotisizer (which you have to destroy all of to get the Golden Ending) the only way you could find this out is if you accidently didn't get out of the way in time and got transported instead of crushed
openGame warns you if you kill an important person Videogame
Is there a trope for when a game warns you if you kill some plot-critical character rather than just giving a Non Standard Gameover? Example: IN Elder Scrolls III Morrowind if you kill some character crucial to the main quest you'll get a warning about how the "prophecy" has been broken and the main quest is now unwinnable, presumably so you can reload if you didn't mean to do that.
Platform that you can’t actually stand on.
