I Love Lucy is a mix of Pottery Barn Poor and Reality Is Unrealistic- they're definitely well off, but you'll see celebrities half-joke now and then that just because you're on tv doesn't mean you're rich. More than one actor or singer has gone into "civilian" work because it can pay better outside the A-and-upper-B-list. (See Vanilla Ice making more in real estate than from his rap/experimental music- even accounting for the various opinions on his discography, he's still got some celebrity cache- but that doesn't automatically equal money.)
