Oh, it's absolutely them. The rampant typos give them away immediately.

Were their edits undone after the last few socks were made? I think the mods usually give such permission for serial ban evaders.

Confirmed to be a ban evader and sacked.

Question: Any chance William Shakesman is yet another sockpuppet? Their serial-tweaking isn't as bad, but it's still there, and they edit a lot of Sopranos pages.

Hmm... it's very likely, but I could be wrong.

What is "serial tweaking"?

A Serial Tweaker goes back and edits the same article over and over because you don't use the preview button. I'm guilty of it myself, but usually not more than two or three times. It clogs up the edit history with small junk edits that could be accomplished in a single go, which isn't great when we want to keep track of edits.

v They're not banned for serial-tweaking, but for poor grammar and later for constant ban evading which is an automatic ban. I imagine you'd have to be a very bad serial tweaker - like, at least five tweaks per session - for it to really be a huge problem.

Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

I'm not sure why that's against the rules. Considering I quite often end up making two or three edits to fix mistakes and "oh, I just thought of a better way of putting this" it's a bit troubling to find out that that's apparently a ban-worthy offense.

^ Fair.

Serial Tweaking isn't against the rules but it can be an issue if done often enough. Trolls use it to hide their vandalous edits behind a page of 15 minor/null edits, and it can clog up the history.

Also, to answer the OP's question as to how they keep coming back: "Chris Keller" may not actually be IP banned, or even if they are, honestly, it's ridiculously easy to get around an IP ban. They might be using a VPN, or Tor browser.

That might explain it. I don't think I've ever seen a ban evader so stubborn before. That said, I don't know if this is actually Chris Keller, only suspicious.

They’re just gonna keep finding ways to come back again, huh?

It's a normal thing. Just report it if it comes up, really.

I've seen a few particularly stubborn ban evaders here and there. The important thing to remember is that serial ban evaders, as a rule, possess neither subtlety nor pattern recognition. They will inevitably do what got them in trouble to begin with shortly, if not immediately, upon evasion. If you know an evader's habits, such as this one's naming conventions and page editing habits, it's not difficult to spot.

In order for a ban evader to be subtle, they'd have to not do the things that would get anyone banned in the first place. That's usually not possible because if they could avoid doing those things, they would have been released in the appeals thread.

I like to call this the Stupid Asshole Paradox. If they were smart enough to get away with stuff, then they'd be smart enough to understand why they shouldn't be doing it in the first place.

To put it another way, you can always count on a crazy person to be crazy. That makes them predictable, and that makes them easy to defeat.

Yep. The frequent ban-evading by a single troper is a big issue, but this isn't the way to face it.

(Don't) take me home.

Yeah, may be time to lock this specific thread once a mod takes action. Repeat evasions can have their own thread if/when it ends up needed.
