I don't go to this fandom, but if a character has Ambiguous Gender and the work doesn't establish particular pronouns to use, I would default to they/them.

There is a weird type of Most Definitely Not Transmisia where someone gets a bug up their butt about they/them being "grammatically incorrect" for referring to a single person, so that concerns me.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

Yeah, I kind of wondered about that as well. Well, it's been widely considered grammatical for over a hundred years now, and appears in most dictionaries, so they don't have much to go on if that's the case they're trying to make.

I'm mostly just wondering if there's anything in-story here that I haven't read. And also hoping for some kind of mod ruling to avoid edit warring.

From rikalous on the forum thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13627234070A82737700&page=1#comment-6

The narrator uses "they" to refer to Glamorax in issue 46. Granted, this happens when Glamorax is in the middle of shifting to a new identity with a new gender and so could be taken as a plural they, but the overarching spirit thing that keeps going through these identity shifts is later referred to as "it," so it looks to me like Glamorax is in fact a they.

That sounds fair. It doesn't sound like there's anything saying Glamorax specifically doesn't use they/them, which was my only concern. I'll give this thread another few days, though, see if any other readers/editors who know the story in question want to add anything.

Bump. I'll probably go ahead and change the pronouns back this weekend, if that sounds like the best course of action.

We get a lot of pronoun questions in ATT. I'm starting to wonder if we should direct people to a thread to discuss Pronoun Trouble for characters...

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

First though such questions should be referred to the discussion page.

I've gotten conflicting advice on that. I used to use Discussion pages quite a bit, but then got various complaints from people saying they didn't get a chance to respond because "no one reads the discussion pages". I did link this thread on the History page in this case, but I'll add another post on Discussion.

^^ That seems like it could be useful. Gets more interested tropers looking at any given case, as opposed to some queries getting pushed further down the front page.

This reminds me of my first ATT query when I asked whether being a verbal autistic person counts as a disability when it comes to Disabled Character, Disabled Actor. It actually lead to the renaming of a Useful Notes page, but didn't conclude my question.
