Not a bit. I've seen bacon sandwiches that were more kosher than that.

Yeah, page titles need to be the work's canonical title, plus a disambig if necessary. Nothing else.

If there are no objections, I'd like to move the content to the proper namespace and cut the old one. I know people don't like leaving inbound links, but considering Wastelander is not an official title by any stretch of the imagination, does it really deserve to stay as a redirect?

Should we do something similar for Jak II: Renegade? Renegade is the localized title in Europe, but the original American title is just Jak II.

Renegade is at least a canonical title.

The question of what to do when the US and EU titles differ has come up recently, but I don't recall any consensus being formed.

Also maybe change Jak X to Jak X: Combat Racing, which is the original American title.

EDIT: Just saw the above post.

I had no idea the Wastelander subtitle was fabricated by the fandom.

WCG: In my experience, I have observed that whichever English name is first-ever given to the work (regardless of the region where the work uses it) wins. I'm not sure if this has been applied to all works, however.

^ The rule is "most recent", not "first". The exact opposite.

However, in dueling-translation cases where there is no "most recent", the American name is often both the first revealed and more well-known, so it tends to win out.

I personally think it's weird to use the non-American name for an American-created work.

Conversely and related, we don't call the first Harry Potter book/movie by its American name.

I say move Jak II but keep Jak II: Renegade as a redirect. If we're moving Jak II and Jak 3 to remove the subtitles, I don't think Jak X should be moved to include it. Also, if Jak 3: Wastelander is cut, be sure to link to Jak 3 in the cut reason.

The difference is that with Jak X, the subtitle is actually part of the original American title.

The page has now been moved. The last step is updating the wicks to point to the new page.

I'll take care of it when I have a chance. I would still like an official word on what to do with the title of the others, as, once again, Jak II and Jak X: Combat Racing are the original American titles, while Jak II: Renegade and Jak X are the localized European titles.

^ I'd say that for the other Jak games, we either use both subtitles or neither subtitle. (This also means each region gets one title.)

I was asked to chime in here. I don't have any bias on this one. The applicable rules are that official names beat fan names, and redirects are for searching. If there are multiple official titles for the same game in different markets, pick one to use and redirect from the other. It really doesn't matter which.

Understood. Thank you!

Maybe we should just cast votes. Personally, I vote to change both titles to the original American ones.

^ I'll go with the "neither subtitle" option, but keep in mind that this discussion technically isn't a vote. It's not crownered or anything like that.
